Siblings Fritz and Franny have their sights set on the tastiest ice cream treat in this early reader!
When competitive fox siblings Fritz and Franny hear the ice cream truck on their street, they both imagine making the sweetest treat with different flavors and toppings. But there's just one problem: Their mom says they can only have one scoop each! Maybe Fritz and Franny need to ask Fred -- their adorable dog -- which flavor is best?
Fritz and Franny can't decide what to get from the ice cream truck. They spend so much time trying to outdo each other's visions of the perfect cone, they might have run out of time for any. The only flavor left is Marshmallow Pickle Ripple. That can't be anything but disgusting, right?
A funny story about dreaming up crazy ice cream cones and discovering that unknown foods can surprise you. I like that the speech bubbles for each different character are outlined in different colors to help readers new to a graphic novel format understand who is saying what. Hand this to beginning readers who enjoy silly stories and ice cream.
I received an electronic ARC from Scholastic, Inc. Terrific beginning reader for mid-elementary level. The fox twins are playing and engaging in their usual rivalry when the ice cream truck comes by. They get so caught up in trying to outdo each other that they miss getting to order. They run after the truck but the only flavor Mr. Bear has left is Marshmallow Pickle Ripple. Gathering their courage, they both decide to try it and discover it tastes good. The illustrations are colorful and bring the story to life.
The ice cream truck is here and Fritz and Frannie can't wait to get some! However, they aren't able to order until there's only one, gross sounding flavor left!
These two foxes are such siblings. The way Frannie always mimics Fritz but takes what he says and ups it one step higher, made me chuckle as to how true that can be among siblings or others within the family. But they encourage one another too, which in this case was they got each other to try what sounds like a nasty flavor of ice cream. And to their pleasant surprise, it's not as bad as they thought it'd be.
Once again, Fritz and Franny are trying to one up each other in this third installment to the Fox Tails series. Mr. Bear, the ice cream man, is in their neighborhood and upon instructions from their mom that they can only have one scoop, they have to decide which flavor they want. Their constant "I'm going to make mine better than yours" mantra ends up leaving them ice cream-less for a short period of time. Leave it to Fred, their cute little dog, to help them make their decision. =)
I love the fun early chapter books for emergent readers!! The sibling disagreements between the 2 foxes will be something many readers can identify with!
When Mr. Bear sells all his ice cream and only has one flavor left, Fritz and Franny have only one choice: Marshmallow Pickle Ripple. But Fred sure seems to like it...
