This is an adorable book, written in an old-fashioned, thoughtful style, with lots of quotes from gossipy old letters, and colorful descriptions of the Master's work.

Very detailed. Well thought out.

A bit stuffy, but caring. Mr. Simmonds obviously cares very much about his readers opinion of the great artist. Buy it!

Part I is done. Moving on to another book and will come pack to Part II. I tend to think that this is a book written for students of art at the collegiate level. But the book also tells a good story of life during the Renaissance in Italy.
