The charming book cover caught my attention and urged me to go through the pages of Magic in Mauve. I bet no one will regret the time invested to read this story. The nature of the plot is unique, and this is something that I never read before. In addition, it gives points to ponder.
Princess Zorina, on her 12th birthday, met her secret love Tahir. Both of them held their hearts for a long time. Once they grew up, their feeling could not be forbidden even by the ruler Shah. Alison, an Irish girl is becoming a well-known fashion designer in Paris by achieving her childhood dream into reality together with Damien. Monique was supposed to get married to Sidney, a businessman, and getting ready for her wedding. The story narrates around the beautiful Mauve skirt that Monique prepared for her wedding. The author did an amazing job by intertwining the destinies of three young ladies using a magical skirt.
The characters are so well drawn, and the words are fresh and full of life. Even though the letters are printed in black, the reader’s mind painted in vivid colors using a well-articulated string of words. The language is simple yet poetic enough to take the reader on an emotional rollercoaster while maintaining the consistency in between three different scenes in a single book.
Even though the book is lighthearted and appealing, behind the main plot, Gerikh conveys a powerful message. Her unspoken words are worth to mention. This book keenly reflects the emotional levels of females, feelings, feminism, and their pure expectations from a relationship. The author draws empathy to the characters of the story which represent the modern woman of different cultures. The untold story is amazing, and I recommend this book to anyone who is searching for a leisurely read. 5 STARS PLUS.
Magic in Mauve is a heartwarming story of three women whose life has been unexpectedly blossomed into happiness. Monique is a fashion reporter who designed and stitched a mauve skirt for her wedding. When her wedding was unexpectedly called off, she donated it. This skirt changed hands and bought fortune to whomsoever wear it. She follows the trail in an attempt to retrieve it unraveling the magical stories of women who are touched by the magic of mauve.
The story begins by narrating three different parallel plots centering around three women in entirely different circumstances. I was ardently following the story to know how their lives will get intervenes and when. But this turn was very surprising for me. They all are connected by Paris, the holy city of fashion, ironically.
The skirt may or may not possess magic. But it will certainly give confidence to whoever wears it. This confidence is the root cause for change their lives. They finally face their fears and all other things fall into place. This is such a beautiful story about women who are finding happiness in their lives by their own will.
I liked the concept of this story. The author has beautifully blended empowering ideas and penned down a magical story around it. The story is fast-paced and has elements of a thriller, always keeping me at the edge of the seat to know what happens next. Really loved the narration.
Meet Monique, a fashion reporter whose grandmother passed on to her, a true love of design and sewing. She pours her heart and soul into creating a beautiful skirt for her upcoming wedding, but when her fiancé postpones the big day, she decides, with a broken heart to give it to Goodwill. This sets in motion a chain of events that manages to bridge the cultural, physical, and emotional divide of three different women. The question is, will the supposed magic of the skirt free Princess Zorina to be with the forbidden, but true love of her life? And will it help the incredibly talented Alison, a fashion designer from Ireland, realise her full potential?
The author has a rare gift of managing to evoke in the reader, a feeling of hope, joy, and empowerment. The masterful use of descriptions transports you into another world, and the well-developed characters ensured I did not want to put it down at all! Although you may not necessarily have anything in common with any of them, the way the author has rounded their personalities ensures that you see elements of yourself in the book, which is not always easy to achieve.
Overall, I found the book an absolute delight! A story that warms you to the core, and is quite impossible to not read in one or two sittings. I highly recommend it!
Magic in Mauve is a beautiful, warm and refreshing story. Just the kind I love. It revolves around the lives of three women, Monique, Zorina and Alison and advances as their lives get intertwined with each other. All courtesy: The Skirt. Filled with magic, wonder and enchantment this book is perfect to transport you to a different world and uplift your spirit in these tough times. The writing is absolutely easy and intriguing. It has such a flow that once you pick up the book you cannot stop. You get lost in the magic instantly and keeping seeking answers. The narrative is engaging and descriptions are vivid. The character development has been done intricately and they show an immense growth through out the book. I very much enjoyed reading this book and completed it in just two sittings. Will recommend it to everyone looking for a light, entertaining read during this lockdown.
This book is so beautiful and full of well, magic! Nonna Gerikh does such a beautiful job bringing the feeling of wonderment back into a time where things don’t always feel that way. The characters are so vivid and exciting, I couldn’t read it fast enough. I needed to know where they all ended up! This book reads extremely visually. it’s like watching a movie; One that gives you a warm, nostalgic feeling of happiness and trust in the journey of life. Thank you, Nonna for this beautiful creation. Can’t wait for the film to be made!
Magic in Mauve by Nonona Gerikh is a book that appeared in my inbox as if by magic. It is a similar take on The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants with a more feminine flair since the traveling clothing item in question is a frilly mauve skirt that makes its way to a number of women around the world including a Middle Eastern princess. The book is a quick read that doesn't spend a lot of time delving into the lives of each woman who was touched by the "magical" skirt, which makes it a light-hearted book for a rainy afternoon. I would recommend this to someone who is looking for a quick fix of female empowerment and doesn't want to think too hard.
Magic in Mauve has four and a half-ish protagonists, but its real starring role goes to the mauve skirt that brings them all together. The skirt is crafted by a woman named Monique, who dreams of her magical wedding and honeymoon as she lovingly chooses the fabric and assembles it on her sewing machine. Her dream of marriage doesn't exactly go as planned when she realizes that her fiancé is not the man she thought he was, but the skirt brings her something unexpected when she donates it to goodwill. She realizes that perhaps the love she wanted through her marriage could be obtained in other ways, such as forming a sisterhood with the young women whose lives were touched by the magic of the mauve skirt. The most unique character in this book is Zorina, a princess from the Middle East who, like many princesses, struggles with an arranged marriage. I am no expert on Middle Eastern culture, but I got the impression that the author did not do much research before writing this character. Zorina comes off more like a fairy tale princess than a real one. While I have no problem with that personally, I did think that it detracted from the more realistic setting of the rest of the book book. From a pure entertainment perspective, though, I thoroughly enjoyed the trials and tribulations that Zorina faced by attempting to break tradition and be with her true love, Tahir.
The main thing this book lacks is a good conflict. The closest character it has to a villain is Monique's fiancé, Sidney, but the only truly bad thing he does is give her a reason to call off their wedding and send the mauve skirt on its journey. This book is filled with too much optimism and fluff to give its characters any real struggles. Therefore, it holds more value for someone who is looking for an uplifting story than for someone who wants a deeply moving tale of suspense and turbulence. The other two women the book focuses on are Holly, an ambitious nurse, and Alison, an aspiring fashion designer in Paris, both of whom are very one-note but likable enough to finish the book.
At its core, Magic in Mauve is a story about how all women want to feel beautiful and loved no matter where they come from or what stage they are at in their lives. It is a simple book with a simple message that makes for a quick and pleasant read. I like that it highlights the fact that not all love stories have a happy ending and that sometimes love can be found in unexpected places. I would recommend Magic in Mauve to teenage girls or young adults who are feeling lonely in their lives and desire a push in the right direction.

Review:
👉Talking about the title of the book, the title of the book is really so interesting to read.
👉The cover is appealing and attractive as well.Writing style of the author is quite appreciable .
👉Three different stories, three different lives intertwined together by destiny. There are three women who are best in their fields and have completely different lives until Paris stitches their story into one. On one hand, Monique stitched a skirt for herself which was believed to have magical properties. This skirt steers the story. However, she donated it after the wedding didn’t go through.
👉The skirt passes from one woman to another and whoever touches it their life turns into gold. Monique rushes to search the skirt. Side by side, Zorina is engrossed in her forbidden love life whereas Alison is busy saving both her love and career. These three different stories go on until they intersect in Paris.
👉The baseline was the skirt and the magic engraved in it. However, whether the skirt really is magical or not is for you to find out.

👉The book is recommended to the adult readers. You are definitely going to enjoy the storyline and the scenarios of the book.
As a huge lover of fashion, Paris and magical realism, I was sure that I was going to love Magic in Mauve right from the very start – and how right I was! This was such a lovely, cosy read that I devoured in just a couple of sittings, and would have done so even quicker had other life requirements not gotten in the way. If you too enjoy your novels based in a contemporary setting but with threads of magical realism running throughout, very much akin to Cecelia Ahern or Carrie Hope Fletcher’s work, then I highly recommend you give this offering from Nonna Gerikh a read. Both light-hearted, magical and fun but still touching upon some serious topics such as feminism, friendship and relationships, this is a truly heart-warming story about finding and creating your own happiness, a message I think we all need to hear at times.
Revolving around the lives of three women, Monique, Zorina and Alison, and the magical ways in which a skirt brings them together, this very much gave me The Sisterhood of the Travelling Pants vibes but with an even more magical twist! I absolutely loved getting to know this colourful cast of women throughout the book, and each of their individual storylines were equally as intriguing and compelling. The character development throughout was wonderfully handled, and the ways in which their lives intersected was again fantastically written. I should note here that I listened to the audiobook, narrated by Carolyn Jania, and she did a fantastic job of telling the story in a way that felt both engaging and relaxing. I really enjoyed her narrative style, and would definitely look out for more audiobooks from her in the future.
This is definitely a new comfort read for me, and I have a feeling that I’ll be returning to Magic in Mauve when I’m in need of a little magic myself. Whimsical, uplifting and honestly such a joy to read, I’m already looking forward to reading more from Nonna Gerikh and cannot recommend this one highly enough – wonderful!
Spinning and emanating the blissful light of the color mauve the book is gorgeous to look at and at the center of the pretty story are three women, Monique, Alison & Zorina. A story that literally spirals around the three ladies owning a parallel perspective, we see the author shifting from one point of view to the other in an effortless fashion. Talking about fashion, it just might be the hallowed ground for the book as the romances, the emotions, the fates, and everything else is touched by fashion at least once through the lifetime of this book's pages.
A professional fashion journalist and having inherited the skill of a sewing, Monique whips up a wonderful mauve skirt. A gift from herself to herself on the auspicious occasion of her wedding day. Circumstances get awry when her wedding is postponed by her fiance, so out in the flow of the damns, Monique goes on to donate that lovely piece of clothing that she brewed for herself. Strangely here is where the journey starts. The journey of the three women as well as that of the skirt.
The skirt travels around touching people and hopping boats to be with different owners. Miraculously the skirt somehow or the other improves the situation of its mistress. Is this magic or just a mere coincidence. We know not, but on the other hand, we see a quest to regain the skirt by its former owner. The prose is written in a slightly pink contour, I had picked it up thinking about the old Disney romances that had me thrilled as well as warmed. Well, this is something of the kind but not exactly the same as the vibes it emanates. The story has a wonderful quality but I might as well say quality wonderful or not? You should decide for yourself.
Three different stories, three different lives intertwined together by destiny. The baseline was the skirt and the magic engraved in it. However, whether the skirt really is magical or not is for you to find out. The author has excellently penned down this amazing story. It’s a short but fantastic read. It’ll keep you until the end especially, it’s interesting to see that how one skirt revolutionizes everybody’s life. I highly recommend it. MUST BUY.
Not to exaggerate, but this book made me enchanted and obsessed from the first chapter. Magic in Mauve by Nonna Gerikh unveils before the reader like a fairy tale. This book is an excellent page-turner that will steal the mind of the reader without making an additional effort. The story of three ladies, mainly princess Zorina’s journey to meet her true love Tahir is delightfully written with beautiful language. This highlights the cultural influence over a lady’s life. While one part of the world entertaining their life to the climax, the other part is struggling and risking their lives to chase their dreams. Unlike the other books, this book holds a genuine theme with an ideal writing pattern that can capture the reader tightly. I am pretty sure the readers will not put it down till the end. Highly recommended!
Magic in Mauve (just feel this title on your lips!) is a lovely, relaxing, and a bit nostalgic read for one or two home-alone nights. Events in this book flow so very smoothly, leaving you with a touch of a heartache, remembering people who helped you becoming who you are, but are no longer here. Yet, an uplifting happy ending for everyone is imminent, as the book title suggests. I’m glad that masterful artistic book cover caught my eye at Barnes & Nobles, and I had to purchase it followings reading just first few pages. I hope you enjoy reading Magic in Mauve as I did.
Perfect book for summer or any season, really. The book has good flow, and characters are relatable although some are from different era and background, which actually makes it more interesting. It's a refreshing and inspirational story which brings hope and awakens dream. Would love very much to see the movie version of the book one day. I would recommend this book to anyone needing positive vibes.
Nonna Gerikh is an artist that paints with words a vivid picture with twists of divine design that pulls you into the lives of the characters. Had me captivated with suspense and curiosity to know what comes next in this charming tale that takes you on a ride of personal growth and self-awareness of the value of love that flirts with humor and irony. A fast read. Hope Nonna will produce a sequel.
