Great short story, intro to the Dan Kolter Series of books. Reminds me of Indian Jones in many ways. Dan Kolter is an archeologist and the story is deep into all the mysteries and secrets of the past. They are protected by a secret order and the power of their secrets gets people killed.
Takes place in Colorado and somewhere secret in the mountains. Very interesting.
Excellent story!
Review by Mike Slavin author of award-winning Kill Crime (action-packed thriller on Amazon to buy or KU) www.mikeslavinauthor.com
Granger threatened Dr. Dan Kotler (anthropologist/FBI's Historic Crimes division advisor) several times. Granger reached into his coat pocket & gave Dr. Kotler a small rectangular 6” x 2” wooden box with the Bolnisi Soni cross (Mrgvlovani writing) on it. Next, Granger kidnapped him.
Colorado Springs, Co. Granger took Dr. Kotler to a cave. The caverns were magnificent with streams. There were great arches of stone that rose to the ceiling. Granger pointed out the Temple of the Knights of Jani. Precious jewels beyond one’s dreams. There lay the Longinus (Spear of Destiny).
I did not receive any type of compensation for reading & reviewing this book. While I receive free books from publishers & authors, I am under no obligation to write a positive review. Only an honest one.
An awesome book cover, great font & writing style. A very professionally written historical fictional anthropological thriller (short story) book. It was quite easy for me to read/follow from start/finish & never a dull moment. There were no grammar/typo errors, nor any repetitive or out of line sequence sentences. Lots of exciting scenarios, with several twists/turns & a great set of unique characters to keep track of. This could also make another great anthropological thriller movie, an animated cartoon, or better yet a mini TV series. To be continued. There is no doubt in my mind this is an extremely easy rating of 5 stars.

I got this one for free for signing up for his newsletter and it was very good. After reading it through and the afterword I can say that I feel this author has really found his niche. I look forward to trying some of their other books including some of their sci-fi as it sounds like what I would enjoy too. While this was just a short story in the series and did not introduce me to all the characters from the series it was an excellent starting point to introduce me to the world they created. This was a complete story with a lot of future possibilities. A worthy read.
The Temple was sealed for a reason. Followers were becoming corrupt. Ancient artifacts needed protecting, not exploiting. Does The Spear of Christ really exist within, or is it simply one more in a growing list of others? I guess it all hinges on what you believe.
I received a free copy of The Jani Sigil through BookFunnel, and have chosen to leave a review.
This is a short, tightly written story. It's believable, has great characters and plenty of action. There are references to previous books in the series, but you don't need to have read the rest of the series to enjoy this book, but you might want to if this is typical of Mr. Tomlinson's writing.
Loved this story. It’s different, exciting, has surprises and keeps you guessing what comes next. If you enjoy a good book take this one home. Be sure and read Kevin’s Note At The End after you finish the story. I enjoyed reading this and found it quite interesting.
A fast-paced thriller, with very interesting characters and situations. I admit, this is my first Tumlinson novel, but it will not be my last. I’ll be searching the rest of his catalog tomorrow and adding substantially to my digital library.
This is a short story prequel to another novel by the author, Kevin Tumlinson. I reread it in preparation to reading the follow up novel, The Spanish Papers.
The first Dan Kotler story I've read, but it stands well by itself. Great characters, interesting premise, and lots of action. I plan to read the rest of the series.
Excellent way to set up the Spanish Papers. Truly love reading the Dan Kotler series and how they weave history, mystery and suspense throughout the pages. Highly recommend the series to any and everyone.
Great short story. Fast paced archeological adventure with the super brilliant Dan Kotler trying to solve a mystery involving ancient artifacts of power and renegade Knights of — well, you get the picture. Buy it; you’ll like it!
