Labels such as ‘icon’ or ‘legend’ are rarely attached to one individual to the degree that they are to Bruce Lee. He only made a handful of films, yet four and a half decades after his untimely death at the age of 32, the Little Dragon’s influence on culture is as strong as ever.
Named among Time magazine’s 100 most influential people of the 20th century, Lee wasn’t just an actor and martial artist, but a director, inventor, husband, father and philosopher. His martial art, jeet kune do, is still practised around the world, while UFC champions credit him with inspiring the growing sport of mixed martial arts. His films kick-started a global kung fu boom and retain the power to awe today, while his thoughts – collected in a series of books from Lee’s own notes – still inspire.
Bruce The Life of a Legend is a unique oral biography that combines the memories of Lee’s original students, close friends, co-stars and colleagues – those who knew him best – to provide a candid view on the action movie star adored by millions, capturing the essence of a complex man in a way no straightforward narrative ever could. Further, for the first time ever in print, legendary professional boxing, bodybuilding and MMA champions and personalities from the motion picture industry pay homage to Lee, giving a blend of unique perspectives on a man who changed the face of their respective sports.
I read the book “BRUCE LEE THE LIFE OF A LEGEND” I believe that this book is life-changing because this person lived a very inspiring life and it definitely ended way to short. He achieved a lot regardless of his time here and that is very inspiring It does not contain any bad information and is a very informative biography of his life and what he achieved, The book is about 400 pages long.
This book changed me in a significant way because it made me see different perspectives from different people to the same person, and how tough a person can be on the outside but have a very warm heart on the inside, as well as his fighting style in general. So I would recommend it to anyone interested in hearing about different types of not necessarily sparing but fighting it's hard to say what it is, but Bruce Lee called it "Jeet Kune Do." I'd even recommend it to someone just interested in learning more about Bruce Lee himself. The history of Bruce Lee is genuinely incredible because he started learning martial arts at just 13 and stuck with it even when having to move to the U.S at 18 years old. I think what he accomplished was truly remarkable, given he, unfortunately, died in his early 30s. But what I personally find cool also is that he was not only a martial arts teacher, but he acted in several different things as well, which shows his adaptability to other things. The author also very obviously admired Lee as well, considering even the title says "THE LIFE OF A LEGEND." so I think the author was very inspired by his story. Major questions depicted in this book were mainly involved in his unique way of combat because no one had ever seen anything like it. Also, I noticed a lot of questions about what his personality was like, and people usually answered them with very positive feedback. What I saw throughout the whole entire book was that the author sort of set up the pages almost like an interview. He would write different sections with close people in Lee's life and ask very fascinating questions from combat to movies to personality. He would then write the answer write below the question in the person's response. At some point, he also provided us with pictures of different events that took place in Lee's life. I believe that anyone who read’s this book will be pretty satisfied because even though it’s not necessarily a textbook giving straight-up information, you are still getting tons of cool and interesting facts about this amazing person’s incredible life. To anyone who is thinking about reading this book please go for it. You will not be disappointed by the structure or the amount of facts in this biography because there is plenty.
