Okay, so I fell in LOVE with Marlee Rae’s style so you know I immediately started the second book. Marlee has a way of captivating you from the first page so it’s not surprising that Slick was a hit for me too. Malcolm “Slick” Montgomery is a playboy known for taking care of everything and everyone in is life. Imagine his struggle when on vacation, he meets Tia “Tweet” Phillips, a younger woman on her independent streak who wants wants NOTHING from anyone. Including a relationship. Sis is about her paper. Malcom and Tia hit it off instantly. The chemistry is so thick, everyone knew they would hook up. Malcom doesn’t make it easy on her either. This man is relentless and INTENSE! I had to clutch my pearls reading because his character leaps from the page. So imagine his reaction when HE gets ghosted LOL!! I loved how we had Black skiers in this story. It’s so dope. This story deeply resonates with me because it shows a couple in different phases of their lives learning the importance of compromise and understanding. Also, the communication is TOP TIER. Malcom and Tia are both confident and straightforward so they aren’t shy to speak. It’s the way they communicate and understood each other’s needs that impress me. I didn’t read the series before this, so I wasn’t aware of Tia’s need to redeem herself from her past. So I get her need to do things alone and prove to her family that she is focused. But boo, let that man help you!!! Malcom was NOT allowing that though LOL! This story showed that love isn’t easy. It shows that takes hard work, communication and lots of compromise to make it work. I loved every second of it. Another positive for me was the family dynamics. Seeing Malcoms biological and adopted family blend was truly a blessing. This story is romantic, hilarious, and relatable. I wouldn’t call this an uncomplicated love story because Malcom and Tia did wild out at some point and it was messy but it all came together perfectly. Read this story, savor it. It’s just that good.

I take care of what?

Slick and Tweet or Malcolm and Tori(whatever you call them)...what a fun ride! Black Ski Week will never be the same for these two because from the moment Slick saw Tweet fall he started falling for her. Tweet had no plans to settle down as she was moving to a new city and starting a new business, but Slick had her nose wide open!!! Back in the DMV, Tweet/Tori is navigating a new city, new business, the pit falls of owning a business, and ducking and dodging Slick/Malcolm. Well Brother Malcolm is not having that, and if he has to show up at her place of business and show her his "trumpet buzzing" technique than that's what he'll have to do.

This couple has an almost 10 year age difference. Tori is younger and feels Malcolm's intensity and need to want to take care of $#!+ is sometimes too much. He's always taking care of his siblings so that's what he's accustomed to. This has them arguing, but doesn't pull them apart... they handle it. They have these amazing families that support them always and they are HILARIOUS. Bliss is suffering from some mental health issues but his timing is impeccable, and when Tori and Malcolm have their major argument it is Bliss who is the voice of reason. I need more of the DMV/STL crew! If you haven't read Marlee Dad's Slick or Wet books...DO IT!

We Are Family

Good stuff😊…Tia & Malcolm demonstrated conflict isn’t the enemy but rather the beginning coexistence in harmony‼️ “Slick (The Love Movement series)” was another great read, with even more interesting family context for new & reoccurring characters. Despite, another alpha male principal character. Malcolm wasn’t obnoxious rather he was confident & generous. Therefore, his abrasive personality is/was mailable. Hmmm 😮‍💨🤔, you never know (even in fictional circles) what stigmas & obstacles people cope with daily. This story in particular was endearing to me. Meanwhile, who knew the Phillip siblings hobby was skiing. And on the powder circuit 🤭🎿 you’d fall into destiny⁉️ ..that’s ingenious plot development ‼️Nevertheless, ten books read to date (of Ms. Rae’s catalog), it hasn’t been a dull, boring and or uneventful moment indulging into her adventures regardless of whether characters are individual/couple’s/family’s social, demographics, educational, economical and or financial status. Their anthem is resolute, “we are family”🥰‼️Cool🤩

Control in the right hands is important and rewarding

Malcolm and Tia 😊. The pacing and storyline were on point. It really endeared me to Bliss. Somehow, I managed to read the series out of order.

But anyhow, I am impressed by the storyline and development of characters. Tia and Malcolm dealt with their relationship in a manner I could respect. The families coming together and geling was phenomenal.

You'll laugh and get misty eyed as you go on this journey.

Love takes care of what it Loves ☺️

I truly enjoyed this story. Malcolm and Tia were perfect for each other. I laughed and there were a few times when I fought off a tear or two while readying Malcolm’s back story.

This is another beautiful story about Love,Family secrets, the importance of communication and devotion. And I think I kinda grew a special place in my heart for Bliss AKA Titus☺️😂

Great read❤️

This was a good read. A lot of details which made it long. The characters as usual are well written. I had mixed feelings about Slick and the age difference. He came off as too controlling but the author was good at the backstory telling why. The family dynamics were great and I am looking forward to the next book.

Malcolm and Tia

He is hot, she is spicy. That sounds super corny right???? But nothing about this journey is corny. Malcolm and Tia were sexy, fun, sophisticated, it was just a good sweet boy meets girl. This was a good read.

Slick Lips

Will have to get my husband to "buzz" me. I'm also in a relationship with an older man twelve years my senior. There was a lot to adjust to like in this story and I'm happy that they were able to love, comprise, and grow.

Real Slick

That Malcolm is the biggest bully but always in a loving way. Tia was truly surprised as to how quick she fell for the big bully. Their love story is quite unusual with the events of Malcolm’s life. Good read.

Happy Reading‼️

On the slopes

I am really enjoying these series. Black scuba divers, black folks on skies. Ready for the final installation and I like that it's tied into your previous series. Great follow up I love it.

I liked this story a lot, and thought it started out really well. That opening scene where the author is comparing taking on the slopes to admiring, caressing, and loving a woman's curves was written so beautifully. The imagery was absolutely amazing. I loved the smoothness and charisma of Malcolm's character, and I liked that Tia was open and fun. Both of these characters were confident, sexy, and smart, and their flirting with each other was so cute and super hot!

Malcolm's family went to him for everything, but still treated him like he wasn't 42 and a successful criminal attorney. When he and Tia had that big disagreement he got scolded like a child from just about everybody. And then people calling Tia "little girl" or "young thang" as an insult was ridiculous and tired. She was in her 30s. They acted like Malcolm being in his 40s was robbing the cradle. Puh-leeze. 🙄

While I admired Tia for realizing that she depended on her family too much in the past and was now trying to do things for herself, she went a little too crazy with it. I understood that she was trying to stand on her own, but I wanted to shake her sometimes for that "I gotta do this without help" being on a never-ending loop. However, I did enjoy the alpha side of Malcolm. He refused to let Tia feel like she had to do it all alone. He wanted to be her man in every sense of the word and "take care of $#@!! LOL!

I loved this story! It was real, relatable, and freaking hilarious! The supporting characters were just as enjoyable as Malcolm and Tia, aka Slick and Tweet.

I love how the author showed black love in its true, sometimes messy form. There were no pretenses in this story. Malcolm was a player, but he wasn't a fool either. He knew a good woman when he saw one and didn't let his family or Tia, who was initially resistant to his charms, deter him from pursuing her in the only way he knew how. You wanna talk about an alpha??? And Tia was truly relatable as the younger, albeit mature, millenial who had her mind on business, not love. But, she was no fool either. Truly good men are few and far between, and she snatched her man up because the vultures were sho nuff circling!

Good writing, engaging characters, and a couple you truly root for. Winner!!!

Not at all what I expec

With a title like Slick I wasn't sure what to expect from this book, I was not disappointed. This story was so so romantic. Malcolm aka Slick new that Tia was meant for hin quite quickly and set out to make her his. Tia wanted to be focused on her new business but couldn't deny her attraction and feelings for Malcolm. These two have a romantic, sexy and funny relationship that included a few ups and downs. The chemisty between them was intense from the beginning.
This is a must read for those familiar to Marlee's work or for those if looking for a new author. if you have read Marlee's other 3 books from her Something About Love series there are references to a few characters from that series to catch up on also.

I was drawn to this book by the title. That was my nickname in college. Spelled Slik. I was told I had a slick mouth. That's the case for both Malcolm and Tia in this story. I laughed so much at their bantering. The couple met on the ski slopes. And yes, Black folks ski. Their families added to the fun. I loved both sets. His was a bit more rabble-rouser than her family. None the less, it's worth the fun of each encounter. The love Malcolm had for Tia was Earthquake worthy. You will enjoy this tale...
