Dating someone who lives next door is a disaster waiting to happen. Cameron knows better than to agree to date the sexy new alien that’s moved into his apartment building. Just because George is confident and persistent doesn’t mean it would be a good idea. It also doesn’t mean that George understands what Cameron is really looking for in a partner…a Dom who can push him right to the edge.
Aliens landing and asking for asylum was supposed to be the plot of a sci-fi movie, not a sexy romance that’s hotter than anything on cable. But maybe the Dom of his dreams won’t come in the package Cameron always expected. Maybe Mr. Right has tentacles.
47k words Story Contains: MM sexual Content, BDSM elements, spankings, and edging.
Author’s Note: While the heat level in this story is higher than some of my books, and there are tentacles involved, it is very much a sweet romance at heart.
I was ecstatic when I heard about this book. 🙂 I love tentacles, I love aliens and I love fluffy. Plus, M.A. Innes is one of my favorite authors when it comes to kinky and funky but the expectations fell very short. 🤦♀️ The writing is too repetitive that I just couldn’t get into it. Sorry but not sorry that I DNFed it. 🤷♀️
Interesting read, but could have gone more in-depth.
I would say this is definitely one of the more out there plots I have read. I like the storyline, that it is two guys and inclusion of BDSM and how important consent is.
However, while I immensely enjoyed them, I would have preferred less sex scenes and more of actual character development.
A To Z Book Title Challenge: M This book has been on my TBR and in my ku library for what feels like forever.
Had I not needed to complete this for my reading challenge, I would have DNF’d it around 60%. I did think about starting a new one but I had so little left to read that I just sucked it up.
Look, I LOVE tentacle books and I’ve read a lot of them this year but this one was just not for me. There’s no need for a tentacle book to be over 150 pages unless there’s some kind of plot line and this being 240+ pages with nothing but BDSM sex was incredibly boring. Sure, the first few tentacle scenes were hot but they were so repetitive that I skimmed the majority of them. I also felt nothing towards this couple and honestly if I have to read the words “My Cameron” again anytime soon I might lose my shit. George says that phrase so many times, sometimes in the same sentence over and over again. I felt like I was trapped back in ‘Fifty Shades Of Grey” having to read the words “inner goddess” non-stop, praying to a god I didn’t believe in, that Ana would get run over so it would stop being so cringy. Sadly, that never happened ☹️ but at least ‘My Cameron’ isn’t a long drawn out trilogy. 😂
This is now the 2nd tentacle story I’ve hated by this author so if I ever give them another whirl, I’ll make sure to steer clear of this topic. I’m really not hard to please when it comes to tentacles so the fact I’ve disliked more than one is a tad odd 🤷🏻♀️
I know I can count on M.A. Innes for smoking hot sex scenes. There's guaranteed to be a powerful connection between the main characters. And their plot-lines are always creative and well developed... but ohmigod, My Cameron is spectacular.
From the moment George and Cameron meet (it’s an incredibly erotic shower scene… just sayin’) these two characters connect on such a unique level, and Innes explores every last bit of it. The insight into Cameron’s understanding of George’s unique abilities, and the way Cameron and George communicate is extremely special.
I don’t want to go on and on, but please trust me when I say again, you’ve gotta read this book!
Cameron is a plumber who is in high demand ever since aliens with tentacles have arrived on earth. The aliens use the sewer under the city as a type of metro? It sounds like a dirty way to travel, but oh well. These aliens get lost all the time and attempt to come up drain pipes that aren't their own.
Cameron has been hired to place grates in showers and install protections for toilets. Because who wants a tentacle saying hello when you're on the toilet?
Unique and sweet idea, but very poorly executed. I had zero idea what these aliens looked like, besides a chest and tentacles? Kinky tentacle sexy times but ruined by the fact that I had too many questions to enjoy the story. So. Much. Sex. It became tiresome.
I wanted to like this so much! It’s a cute premise and the first 30% was well executed. But this really should have been a novella and only half as long. I finished but was pretty bored by the end. And yet there were threads left hanging. Where does his job fit into this new lifestyle? What about his friend / boss? Are they like officially together forever now, and will they move in? With so many words I wanted more plot.
I said in my last review of an MAI book of how pleased I was that along with the smoking hot sex we got a nice side of social commentary. This time around, it's smoking hot TENTACLE SEX (Yay!) with a heaping helping of anthropology steeped in cultural relativism...and I am positively delighted.
A small part of it reminded me of the Claimings series with how the aliens derived pleasure not with their appendages or reproductive organs but through their emotional attachments and I loved that aspect of xenobiology. That said, as much as I liked this whole story, the commentary about how scientists were uncomfortable with discussing or researching same sex pairings or matings - leaving them to independent and secret study - seemed a bit forced. Yes, I could definitely see Earth politicians squirming in discomfort when these guys mentioned an interest in our porn...but there is absolutely no way that someone from the Kinsey or Gottman Institutes wouldn't have jumped on this opportunity.
re-read 10/11/20 to get ready to read the beginnings of Trip's story -- still perfect!!!
Love love love love love this story! I had already read the beginnings of this on the author's FB page, but where she goes from here is absolutely amazing. This is the sweetest BDSM I've ever read, along with being the mostly deliciously filthy. I NEED more of George and Cameron in my life!
**I just realized this is book #3,000 on my Read shelf, and it couldn't have happened to a better book! Yay, so glad it's by Shaw Montgomery/M.A. Innes!**
DNF 51% Sounded good in theory but the writing was just not up to this authors usual par. This was repetitive, confusing and did not excite me at all. And I felt like had no clue about either character. I skimmed to see if it improved but it was just more of the same. YMMV. 2 stars because I can’t bear to give this author 1.
I am a HUGE fan of alien-human MM romances, and this one has shot up my list to one of my top-favorite books in that category! This is about Cameron, an ordinary guy who longs for a Dom to control him, and his new alien neighbor George, an intelligent tentacled alien who is part of the new race who recently landed on Earth. There's so much fun stuff in this book as Cameron has a dry humor that I love as he processes how he sees George and the way his world has changed as a result of the aliens. There were lots of cool bits about George's world and why his race chose Earth to land on. But my favorite part of the story was George and Cameron's D/s relationship and the huge amount of control Cameron gives over to George and how thoroughly George cares for and pleasures Cameron! All I can say is--wow! Overall it was such a nice mix of kinky sex, George's caretaking, and learning about George and his people and his old world, and MA Innes blended it all together in that perfect mix of hers, along with the sweetness all her books are imbued with. And I'm really hoping Trip gets his own story, because I'd love more books in this universe! And another one with the scared but totally turned on twink who serves them their meal at the restaurant (loved him!).
DNF at 40%. “My Cameron” was repeated so many times I couldn’t focus on anything else. When I looked up how many times it’s said…. 217 times is absolutely outrageous. It’s one thing when it’s a sweet endearment but this was just… too much. And not actually describing what George looks like… is he a tentacle alien with a human head…? A “chest” was described but it wasn’t said he has human arms or legs… just tentacles. So the picture in my head was so ridiculous I couldn’t get into the sexy time.
"I volunteer as tribute!” I want a George of my own😉😊🤦🏻🤣

Well, I asked for tentacles, and I sure got them. Unfortunately, that's really all there is to this one.
Lots and lots of sex. Instalove. 0 stakes, it was a bit boring tbh.
I feel like an ass because in my review of the last book I read from this author, Randall & Hudson, I complained that the plot was unnecessary, but this one desperately needed some plot.
The first sex scene was great. I really liked the second one too, but after that it felt repetitive.
And do the MCs have anything at all in common? I don’t buy it.
I usually like the fuzzy subspace this author writes, but this is a bit much. Cameron becomes completely incapable of even stringing together a sentence, no wonder they never seem to get to know each other.
I also can’t work out what the aliens look like. How do they wear pants? Where do their tentacles come out from?? I'm confused.
This was interesting. I would have liked to know more about George's people, but maybe that will be revealed in book 2. It's not surprising the US government isn't interested in researching same sex interspecies couples. Are other countries as boneheaded, I wonder?
I'll have to order the second book and see what I can learn. 😄
A very steamy pun intended for bathroom scenes read.
Tentacles plus D/S component in a relationship basically summarise the book. Lol. It amuses me on how the author managed to make our aliens so.. dominant and controlling despite not aiming to control the earth. again Lol. I had fun reading this, it was light hearted. I do feel a bit uncomfortable at how quickly the human MC submit himself but then those tentacles were just that amazing and sexy. It's great to see how they work out at the end.
I’m so sorry but this didn’t work for me. It was a bit humorous at times, though I don’t think that was the intent of the book. And I didn’t understand the relationship between the two leads.
It was intriguing to navigate this foreign world and interrelation ( how their relationship was partly based on hormonal influence and parlty love and trust created along their blooming relationship.
But it was too repetitive to some degree that It was almost unbearable to continue reading.
Some quotes I liked
Boundary issues
“I am not giving up my job or the time that’s necessary to live as a functioning member of society.”
I second this haha
"Porn as an educational medium. That was fabulous."
I gave up on this really early on. Don't particularly like books that start off with sex within the first few pages. Especially creepy shower sex with tentacles coming out of the shower drain. Then there's the fact that I don't really like Cameron and since the book is from his perspective that's a problem. Thank goodness for KU, so I can return this no harm no foul.
BDSM tentacle erotica. Extremely hot tentacle erotica. There was a cute little love story behind it.
My only real issue was that I'd have liked George to be more physically described, I had trouble imagining what he looked like. The characters weren't super well developed, but I wasn't here for their sparkling personalities so it wasn't a problem to me.
“How could anyone compare to a Dom who could nearly read my mind, could hold me down so completely, and basically had a dick that shot lightning?”
Kinky tentacle alien romance goodness! This was such a sweet but spicy story! George is an alien and is very interested in his neighbor Cameron. He has never been around a human that smelled as good as Cameron does so he is determined to date him. Cameron is a plumber that has been too busy to date especially since the aliens came to earth. When his sexy alien neighbor “accidentally” slips a tentacle into his shower while he is bathing, Cameron decides to agree to a date. Little does he know what he has gotten himself into! I really enjoyed how they both had such different cultures and had to learn what the norms were for each others species. It was so intriguing and definitely made it very obvious that this was not a normal relationship. I would recommend this book to someone who loves reading about overprotective aliens, BDSM, mm love, and bonded mates.
A couple of years ago I didn't know sweet tentacle romances were my cup of tea, but they just seem to be. This is cute and sexy and honestly a bit strange.
I'm not a big fan of BDSM but it's not really negative to me either if it's done in the trusting and tender way like here. But this story seems to be a whole exploration of D/S relationship with an alien twist. While I find the cultural differences interesting, I would have preferred this to be a sci-fi tale with an alien romance, and the D/S stuff just a part of it. So I think the emphasis of the story was a bit off for me.
So I have conflicted feelings about this book having many things I really liked, but overall still I didn't exactly love this (which I might have done with a different approach). Because of the promise this book showed, I am interested in reading the second one in the series, but if they're all very similar, this wont be a winning recipe for me.
Basically stated, this is a extremely erotic book about the growing relationship between Cameron, a human, and George, an alien that resembles rather large octopus.
With elements of Dom/sub, hurt/comfort and lots of cuddles from George's 8 tentacles, I found this story to be surprising in many ways. First, it was extremely well written. Second, NO editing errors! Third, the interaction between Cameron and George is skillfully plotted and immensely enjoyable. Their "adaptation" to each other is highly possessive, humorous, heartwarming and loving.
I can safely say that I would happily enjoy having a new neighbor like George over for a few evenings of "eight-legged" fun!
Tentacles! Lighthearted, sweet, and entertaining, this was a quirky scifi romance about a race of friendly, territorial, dominant aliens who ally with, and settle on, Earth. This book is everything that’s great about scifi romance: you can make up whatever absurd, ridiculous rules you want, and as long as you stay within the world building, it’s all good. I love it. Lol. There are some large holes in the how/what/why’s of these aliens - I’m hoping we’ll get more information in future books, but I still really enjoyed what was here and recommend.
Who would have thought a tentacle alien bdsm book could be sweet. I really liked the differences between the aliens and humans and appreciated how they fit in. This book was kinky but fun.
Tentacled aliens come to Earth after their sun dies. Cameron is the human, George is the alien. Insta-Dom kinda situation. The dynamic was interesting, lots of hormones and restraint by tentacle. The aliens prefer a 24/7 BDSM-esque mating and get off on giving pleasure. The physical descriptions were really vague though so I had trouble understanding what was going on or what George looked like.
