My husband is a monster. My home is riddled with lies. I thought I could bear the torment for my daughter's sake.
Until I met him.
In one night, Matthew Zola showed me everything I never knew I was missing. Passion. Pleasure. Deep, dark, earth-shattering love.
Matthew thinks I'm the perfect woman. But we're only as good as the secrets we keep. And my biggest one—the one he doesn't know—could cost him everything.
Should I risk everything to buy back my freedom? Or remain in shackles to protect the man I love?

When not writing, she is hanging out with her family, playing soccer with the rest of the thirty-plus crowd in Seattle, or going on dates with her husband. In her spare time, she likes to go running or practice the piano, but never seems to do either one of these things as much as she should.
After reading The Scarlet Night and The Other Man by Nicole French, I figured I was solidly in #TeamZola territory. Then, I read the next installment in the Rose Gold series, The Perfect Woman, and now I have a massive girl crush on Nina DeVries Gardner.
The Perfect Woman gives us plenty of the steam and push/pull we’ve come to love from Nina and Zola. More importantly, this story is Nina’s story. We learn more about Nina’s past and why she’s made the choices she’s made to lead her to the end of this book (and the beginning of the next book in the series, The Honest Affair). I can’t express adequately my admiration for Nina, her strength, her fierce love for her daughter, Olivia, and her ability to persevere when it seems everyone and everything is against her. I’m rooting for her to stand on her own! I can’t wait to see how Nina and Zola find their happily ever after (I hope!) in the next book.
If you’ve read Nicole’s other series, you know that her character development is on point, and you’ll get to catch up with some of our favorites, including Skylar and Brandon and Eric and Jane. You’re also going to have a few new villains to mentally curse as you’re reading (no spoilers, but trust me, at the end of this book, you’re going to want two in particular to get what’s coming to them)!
This book deserves more than 5 stars, and it needs to be devoured immediately! You won’t regret it!
There are no right words to say how epic this story is, except for its EPIC!!! This picks up from The Other Man and it is as mind blowing as that was, even more. This time we get to learn more about Nina and how she came to be the woman she is. It’s a story of a young woman’s survival in a wealthy family who don’t exactly show kindness to their family members. Nina is a force to be reckoned with, especially when it comes to her daughter. She will do anything to protect her, even from her own husband. And don’t even get me started on that man! Nina endures so much that you can’t help but want to hug her and give her love.
When she initially met Matthew, it started out as pure lust, but she knew in her heart it was so much more. But they both knew it could never work out. Or could it? Matthew is the type of character that makes you swoon, your heart melt, lust after and completely fall in love with. He wants Nina with such a passion that as you read, you can feel both their emotions deep in your soul. They make you cry and they make you laugh and they make you believe in love.
This book has so much going on, your head will spin. You will be shocked, surprised and blown away by what happens. I wish I could give this book so much more than five stars as it deserves many more than that. I need to know what happens with Matthew and Nina so much so, that I will be on pins and needles until the final book. If you haven’t figured it out by now, I highly recommend this book! It’s pure brilliance!
Couldn’t Love this book More! Finally we get to really know who Nina Astor De Vries Gardner is and how she came to be in the awful marriage and amazing affair that we’ve already read about. The details and thought processes do not disappoint. Of course we continue to get to know Zola better as well, but this is really Nina’s book. As these two continue to fall more in (ill fated) love, there are hints and clues and details revealed that further the investigation into Nina’s husband Calvin...but nothing is sorted just yet so there is a lot to anticipate in Book 3. Old friends and frenemies are included in the story which bring some relationships back where they should be and pull some further apart. The well written love scenes add some spice and heat to this nuanced and detailed plot. This may be my favorite of all Nicole’s books so far...
ZOLA! I literally read this book in two days! Would have been sooner but, ya know mom duties. This book was everything I was hoping and expecting! To see the way Nina become how she is was great! I live that we got to see why she is the way she is. I love the heat and chemistry from the two of these characters! It keeps you turning the pages and never wanting it to stop! The ending has me dying!!! Just when you think you can trust what’s happening and then BOOM! Nicole lays us out flat with the last 2 words! Way to go Nicole. You hit it out of the park once again!!
Damn Nicole French you've done it again! This is book 2 following from The Other Man. This trilogy follows Nina De Vries and Matthew Zola.
It's best you grab book 1 before diving into this baby! I do additionally reccomend you read all the trilogies before this book because we get to see beloved characters like Brandon, Skylar, Eric and Jane which makes this all the more exciting to read!
This book picks up from where we finished. Without spoiling, we're in Nina's point of view with perks into Matthew's, the case against her husband's illegal allegations is open and in the run.
We get to see a deeper look into Nina's past and present life. We get to feel a stronger connection to her while also seeing her internal struggle to stay away from a man she loves.
As every book is when I read from Nicole French, I am pulled into a whirlpool of words with no escape. I read this book within a day and it was the biggest delight, despite me needing book 3 right now!
She is an author I would wait years for if I needed to, in order to get the next book. Her words take you on a deep emotional journey that is worth seeing through.
The strong never drags but floats along gently as you get struck with heartache and pain and love.
The ending struck me the most. It was so painful to read and I felt teh struggle of both Matthew and Nina. They're soul mates but because of Matthew taking care of the case to lock up her husband, and Nina needing to protect herself and her child, there doesn't seem to be a way out for them.
You need to read this book if you are ready for an emotional rollercoaster. The struggle of two characters not being able to be together. Plus a bonus of action and angst, it's everything you need!
Thank you, an ARC was provided in exchange for an honest review.
OMG this book is AMAZING!!!!!!! I can't wait for the third one.
Book two in Nina and Matthew's story. It starts right were the first one ends but we get Nina's POV, also we get her background and how she came to be the wife of Calvin Gardner. My heart breaks for Nina, she's a sweetheart and was deal such a terrible hand when all she wants is to be happy. I'm sorry for disliking her in the previous books she came on.
Matthew is our handsome prosecutor whose madly in love with Nina but they can't be together because the odds are not in their favor... Yet. He's adorable and protects her fiercely as much as he can.
I can't wait for the final book. There's such and intricate web of scenarios presented here, I'm amazed once again by Nicole's details about legal stuff, beautiful description of places you feel like you're actually there. And also I can't wait for Nina and Matthew yo get the happy ending they so badly deserve.
If I could give this book, this series 10 stars I would. Nicole French weaves a tale of deception, greed, lust and finally love. I will admit on more than one occasion I wanted to choke Nina's jerk of a husband and maybe just maybe I wanted to slap Mathew for the way he sometimes thought. But I feel everything Nina and Mathew felt and I could not stop reading... that is how good Ms French writes her characters and her stories.... I will patiently (not) wait for the next book to release to see if they get their happily ever after. Amazing job Nicole French simply amazing!
The Perfect Woman is an emotional roller coaster than will have you feeling all the feels as we dive deeper into the world of Nina De Vries Gardner! Things will be revealed and as we start to unravel her dark truths we see that her life has never been her own!
I fell in love with Nina in book 1! I feel so drawn to her character! She’s Meek and though to some she may be shallow or lack a backbone but in book 2 we discover that Nina is stronger than she thinks! Yes we do get another cliff hanger but the fight of Nina’s life is just about to begin!
The book isn’t all Nina but majority of book 2 focuses on her and the inner workings of her life! In book 1 we got to know Zola and the beginning of their love but in book 2 you’ll get more of the background story and it’s this novel that will take us into the epic conclusion of the Rose Gold trilogy!
Don’t fear though our gorgeous Zola is still very much a part of this story! Their chemistry is still hotter than ever and sky rockets off the charts! Any time they are together you feel their need for one another and the scenes with these two will have you melting with a need of your own (insert wink emoji)!
So if you haven’t started this beautiful trilogy begin now because this are really heating up and starting to get good!
OMG 😲 If you're looking for a book world to immerse yourself in, look no further my friend! This author is so consistent and precise, you just FEEL like you're on the streets of N.Y. with Zola and his Doll. I won't lie, the amount of times I let out an exasperated with over something Nina said it did was embarrassing. She frustrated me to no end in this book. She's not perfect but you can see her intentions aren't as self serving as they would appear from the outside. Zola is onto something calling her Doll, in many ways she is, or at least was, a broken one at that. She's getting it though, layer by layer, break through by break through she's starting to heal. I sincerely hope they can get all their stars aligned in the next book, and if Calvin and Caitlyn don't get what's coming to them my poor Kindle might be worse for wear after being thrown at a wall or something.
HOLY. CANNOLI. Dead. I’m dead!!! And I’ll be even more dead tomorrow because it is 3am and I am just going to sleep because I could not put this down!!!! Zola and Nina are...so much of everything and more in the good way!!! Such complex characters yet I feel like I know them on a personal level. Like I, too, was hanging out around the fire with Zola and Nina, Eric and Jane, and Brandon and Skylar. Oh yeah, that’s right, did I mention that Brandon and Skylar make a grand appearance in this book and we get to hang out with them again?? **cue swoony squeal!!** Ok, back to Zola and Nina, we are left with a cliffhanger but have no fear because it is going to be well worth the wait!! Don’t get me wrong, I am impatiently patiently awaiting it and not near as calm as I seem now but I just know that Mrs. French has never let me down before and I don’t expect she will now. (No pressure, Nicole!! :-* haha)
I was SO excited waiting for this book to come out that I read it so fast and now I'm sad I have to wait for Book 3. But man oh man, this book was worth the wait! It was perfection! Nicole can write like no other and she really out did herself!
I love Matthew Zola, but I am totally in love, girl crazy adoration with Nina Astor De Vries Gardner. Here we get her back story, her upbringing, how she became married to that low life bottom feeder Calvin Gardner and events leading up to the night she met Matthew. My heart bleeds for all she has gone through, and all she has lost just trying to protect those she loves.
There are clandestine meetings and hookups, a secret society, human and drug trafficking, domestic abuse, but permeating through it all, a deep and abiding love. That is the glue that kept my head stuck in this book right up to the end. Well, that and keeping up with a sly little witch we met in the previous book, The Other Man, Caitlyn Calvert.
This is my favorite book, so far, from Nicole. And that's saying a lot. I love every book and especially her couples. They are all so broken and just need to find that special person who completes them. I am so looking forward to the last book, especially with the way we were left at the end of this book! I wish I could give this review more than Five Stars!
Nicole French’s The Other Woman is truly a stellar piece of work. It is the second book of the Rose Gold Trilogy and it takes us through Nina’s life and boy do we learn a lot about money NOT being able to buy happiness! It carries on after The Other Man so these books should be read in order and this book is Nina’s perspective of the time. Nina Loves Matthew Zola(and really who wouldn’t)as much as he loves her but the two can never be together. He is her dream man and everything she could ever imagine a perfect partner could be. Only problem is he is the prosecuting attorney determined to put her horrible putrid husband in jail! The strife, drama, love and heartache in these pages lead you to understand Nina and Matthews feelings of a love never to be. The story is perfectly perfect with a huge shocking ending making everyone yearn for the last book in this series to be available. We get to see characters from Nicole’s previous series that all tie into this storyline and it is really lovely to visit with them during this time. I truly bow down to Nicole French’s amazing writing skills and I can’t wait for the finale of this amazing series. You did it again Nicole. Hats off to you!!!
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
I have been waiting for the continuation of Matthew and Nina’s story for what feels like forever and this was worth the wait.
The Perfect Woman is full of more twists and turns, more suspense, more heat. This story will keep you guessing from the very beginning and stay that until the very end with a jaw dropping cliffhanger.
I loved that this was really Nina’s story. I loved getting to know more about her past and how she ended up where she did and with her horrible husband. There was the perfect mixture of flashbacks mixed in the present time. Plus, the periodic chapters through Matthew’s POV. This just made me like Nina even more as a character, her love for her daughter is fierce and this explains why.
I can’t wait to see where Matthew and Nina’s story goes in The Honest Affair. The Perfect Woman is a MUST READ and a great continuation of Matthew and Nina’s story.
Omg!! Jaw dropping intense read! This was just absolutely amazing! You couldn’t have asked for a better mix of passion, suspense and mystery in this incredible book! Just when you think you’ve figured out the plot of Matthew and Nina- nicole throws in a massive curveball! This is one addictive, intricate reads that you’ll beg for more! And that jerk Calvin- all I have to say is that I desperately NEED to see the ending of this series!
Wow this is amazing epic story.. this story has a push pull affect that is very dark and steamy. This has a very intense emotion from the story and a very high interest of lies and need for power. Their just isn’t enough words to describe this intense story only you will have to read your self to get the high you need from this story..
I loved this second installment, you really get to see who Nina is and what drives her. The tension is incredible and the ending! Your going to want to read this one and immediately preorder the 3rd book! Nicole has done it again!
This book is the second book in the Rose Gold Series and it is just as good as book one. This story carries on from the first book and I would recommend that you read that one first so you can let the story flow. This story has secrets, lies, love and angst and you will be hooked. This is and amazing series and I cant wait to read more of this authors books.
Book #1 The Other Man Book #2 The Perfect Woman
Nina is a beautiful, strong woman and has had to make tough choices in her life and she has has things quite tough and even though her life has been hard she is still an amazing person. Nina will do anything to protect the people she loves and she loves her daughter so much and I really feel for her and all what is happening.
We first met Matthew in book one and he is such a loyal, genuine guy that you cant help but love him. He's very protective and the love he feels for her is so strong and real that I was rooting for them both. But he has a job to do and it seems to be in the way completely. Can these two be together after everything and the love they feel so deeply?
I loved how this author has written these characters in the first book and that in this book we get to see more deeply into who they are. This author makes the reader really feel for everything that they are going through and really makes you want a happy ending for them both, but its not looking good for them. The chemistry is still sizzling hot between them both and
I love how this book we find out much more about Nina and her life and why she has had such a struggle. This book will have you emotions on a roller coaster at times and your heart will ache. This story flows and it has twists and turns, drama and love and the reader will defiantly not see that ending coming. This book will keep you turning the pages until the very end and you will really enjoy reading it. I highly recommend that you read the first book in this series first so the story flows together.
A continuation of Matthew & Nina's complicated and forbidden story that left me rooting and wishing they get to have their HEA.
Getting to see more of Nina's past and present life helped putting these puzzle pieces together to her and Matthew's "life". Nina reiterated what many of us have known-money may but many things but it does not buy happiness. As Matthew tries his hardest to prove that Nina's husband, Calvin Gardner, has committed the crimes he is investigating he realizes that he has crossed the lines. And even though he knows it's wrong on so many levels he can't have enough of Nina.
There are many secrets, lies, mystery and most of all-forbidden love that I was willing to overlook it all for their happiness. I'm getting the feeling that there will be so much more of that in the coming book and I can't wait. Get cozy & ready to read until you get to that ending!! Kara~4.5 Stars
Nina and Matthew's story just keeps getting better and more twisted as the series continues. As much as the sheets heat up between Nina and Matthew, Calvin's true self emerges and I find myself in Nina's corner wanting to support her. The angst between Nina and Matthew is at an all time high. My disdain for Calvin grows and as the real story unfolds, I find myself addicted to the outcome. The solid image of the upper class hides rooms full of mirrors waiting to be be smashed. I am so glad that Nina is finally taking the reins to fulfill her own destiny. This story had me on the edge of every emotion, sigh.
"Together, we had no names. We ceased to be two separate people. Lost, yet found. Wild, yet tamed. That word again swelled. Together we were home." ~Nina
My jaw is still hanging while I am writing this review. I was addicted to The Perfect Woman. Once again Nicole French and crushed my heart and is very slowly piecing it back together. It will not be whole again until the next book! She holds my heart in her hands..well at least her characters do.
Nina holds all the cards in this book. We get to live in her dark world and it is tormenting. I wanted to make all things right. I loved her resilience and her soul. The Perfect Woman is a book about a woman that knows her self worth. I love that I have no idea how the next book will play out and I cannot wait to find out! This book is GOLD!
This series continues to get better and better with each book. I love getting glimpses of past characters they tie the series together wonderfully. Matthew and Nina are and epic pair and I am praying for a happy ending with all the fireworks and hopefully a little Zola Baby!!!!
This series is amazing! I am really enjoying and loving this series more and more as each book comes out. This second book (third if you count the prequel) does not disappoint, as we learn more about each character, I can't help but fall more in love with all the characters and each storyline. This story is well-written, there's a lot of character development and I can't wait for book 3!
The Perfect Woman by Nicole French is an epic romance where mystery, drama, passion and love everything come alive together through the extraordinary writing of Nicole French. I love how this story is larger than life. I love how this forbidden romance is taking me on a mesmerising journey through time and space.
I feel you need to read this story without knowing anything except basic about the storyline. Charismatic prosecutor and DA Matthew Zola is investigating a very significant and complicated case. And Cavin Gardner, the husband of Nina De Vries Gardner is one of the suspect. But Matthew and Nina's story started before all of these. Two desperately and hopelessly in love people are fighting for the impossible and probably setting themselves for failure. They shouldn't be together for so many reasons. But they have this heartaching and soul deep connection that just refuses to go away.
The Perfect Woman is the second part of the Trilogy. The author went back and forth in timeline to build up and explain the whys of Nina's life. She is a caged princess. She is a pawn in everyone's game. She is trying hard but the more she try, the more she gets trapped in the web of lies, deception, fear and betrayal. She was groomed as the perfect socialite without any real value herself. But Nina never completely accepted it. She wanted to be free, independent and self sufficient. My heart breaks for her pain and losses. I am so proud of her tenacity, strength and resilience. Because any woman with lesser fire would have broken completely under the inhuman pressure. But she is fighting for her daughter's happiness even in darkness.
And Matthew Zola is the guy who has awaken the rebel and ravenous Nina. He pushed her to be angry. He forced and forced unless she saw a perfect woman worthy of every happiness. Zola worships her and adores her and breaks her only to put her together in a better way. This man made my heart and soul ache so intensely. He is not from Nina's rich and powerful society. But his need for justice and ability to fight against the biggest odds was such a turn on. Unrequited love is my poison and Nicole French didn't hold back with the angst at all. It hurt so good! You will want with every fibre of your soul for them to be together even when your rational mind knows it's not possible. And that's the beauty of this story. The chemistry is beautiful, volatile, explosive, all consuming and devastatingly tragic. The story line was fast paced and intricate. And I was on my guard so that I didn't miss any details. I was biting nails and clutching my heart and did throw my kindle a few times.
The Perfect Woman by Nicole French was a masterpiece. The emotions were overwhelmingly beautiful. The story line with endless twists and turns kept me engaged from the first page to the last one. This is one of a kind love story that can only be made by brilliance of Nicole French.
Just simply amazing how this series is unfolding. I could barely keep my eyes open reading. The characters, the writing, like you can see it all happening. You discover so much more on Nina's life and what all she's been through and still going through. How fiercely protective she is of her daughter Olivia. I love how this book was mostly on her. You'll get some of Matthew's pov's on here too. This book opens up so much more though. How you also get to revisit some of her characters from other series in it is a plus. But I didn't think I could possibly love her books more but how wrong I am. They keep getting better. Such an intense read, their love affair and the case that's trying to crack open and causing all kinds of torments and eye opening facts. Nina is a strong woman and I think she's my favorite character yet. I really hope they both find some peace and end up together like they deserve. After reading this book and getting more into Nina's story, it explains so much more about her now. So if you haven't read The Rose Gold series starting with The Scarlett Night, & The Other Man, then your missing out. So good. (Trying not to leave any spoilers.) Love it!
It's taken me days to figure out what I wanted to write for my review of The Perfect Woman because Nicole French did a phenomenal job of writing this story. We continue the story of Zola and Nina's epic romance, however we get more of Nina's history in this book than before.
There is so much angst that you feel because of Nina's past as it gets unraveled, and you still don't have all the facts because you're left with questions.
Nina's husband, Calvin Gardner, is a character I have hated for the beginning and this book only fuels my hatred of this greedy, gold-digging, piece of trash.
This book is one that you will want to read in one sitting. I read it in one night at work, thankfully for a quiet night shift because I could not put this down. I would have thrown a tantrum at work if I had to stop reading. If I could rate this book at a 10/10 stars I would in a heartbeat because that's how epic Nina and Zola's romance is, they deserve it.
**Grumpy noises** I need this next book NOW. Not tomorrow, not next week, now! I cannot believe the way that ended. I think I might have broke my kindle. I wanted to punch Matthew and shake Nina and scream and a couple other people for being grade A narcissistic jerks. Look I get it. I see where both of them are coming from but seriously this book has given me no peace. I just want a little satisfaction. Just one thing to go right. But nope. That isn't what Mrs. French wanted for us. No, I believe that she is just taking joy in making me lose my mind. I know there has to be some happiness and resolution in the next book right? Please? I just want everything to work out. I want the bad guys to lose. Ugh this is going to be a long couple of months.
Nicole French is a goddess with a pen! The Perfect Woman is absolutely a phenomenal story that kept me up reading until the early morning. It's a dual POV story that's sexy, sweet and angsty. I love the characters and the way the story has flowed...and I'm going out of my mind waiting for the conclusion to Zola and Nina's epic romance!!!
This series has me hooked! Flash a romantic suspense/crime drama in my face and I’m intrigued. Throw in the elements of forbidden + billionaire and I’ll bite all day long. And I’m so glad I did. This series has blown me away.
The Perfect Woman is the 2nd book in Nicole’s Rose Gold trilogy. It’s not a standalone and I highly recommend reading the prequel novella, The Scarlet Night, in addition to book 1, The Other Man.
Matthew Zola is Brooklyn’s smoking hot assistant district attorney. He’s loyal and fiercely determined to uphold justice and ensure the bad guys get what they deserve.
Nina Astor De Vries Gardner is the married heiress to one of New York’s oldest and richest families. Her life is an illusion of everything anyone would envy - designer clothes, luxurious homes. But she’s lonely and trapped in a loveless marriage to Calvin Gardner, a slimy opportunist.
I’m obsessed with Nina and Zola. The angst and chemistry between the two of 🔥🔥🔥! There are so many twists and you find yourself riding the emotion highs and lows that go along with the desperation of these two to be together.
The series is amazing - it’s incredible. The books are long and there is a lot of plot/storytelling so I can see some readers potentially getting bored through it. But it’s so worth it to stick through it - there’s a reason for it!
𝐓𝐫𝐢𝐠𝐠𝐞𝐫 𝐖𝐚𝐫𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠: There are a few triggers that I want to highlight: if you are extremely sensitive to stories with cheating or themes of domestic violence/human trafficking then this probably isn’t a series you want to start. The domestic violence/human trafficking isn’t discussed in graphic detail but it is important to the storyline.
THE PERFECT WOMAN, Nicole French's second instalment in the Rose Gold Series, has left me speechless, thoughtless and begging for the next book, The Honest Affair. Beginning where The Other Man leaves off, this book will take you on a journey of epic proportions. This is Nina Astor's story, one that explains how she became the woman she now is - fierce, loyal, protective, and burdened by the man she married.
Nina has been through so much in her life to lead her where she is now. She deserves love and happiness, things she only finds when she is with Matthew Zola, a man who wants and desires Nina with a passion like no other. Is their illicit affair doomed? Will their love be able to withstand everything that is going on around them? Can they heal each other's broken heart?
Once again Ms French has thrown everything into her story: drug and human trafficking, abuse, secret societies. Twist and turns are to be found on almost every page, leading to a story that will keep you completely mesmerised. It is a story that had me sitting on the very edge of my seat and chewing on my fingernails in constant anticipation.
I cannot wait for the final instalment to discover what Ms French has in store next for Nina and Matthew.
Book two of the series and although we continue to learn more about Zola this for me is really Nina's book. We find out more details about her life and specifically how she ended up in that horrendous marriage. I really love that what started as a passionate night has morphed into a passionate love story. We learn more about the investigation into the husband from hell Calvin and just how far Nina will go to protect her beloved daughter.
The writing is flawless and although there are several strands to the story I never felt like I lost my way. I love the way the chemsitry and love scenes are written you do feel like a voyeur spying on their stolen private moments. Nothing is straight forward when Nicole delivers surprises and twists with a WTH ending.
