My sister has it emblazoned on a t-shirt. But I'm not convinced until her curvy best friend walks into my gym, looking for a personal trainer.
Haley's got my attention with her lush lips and shy eyes. I want to wear her thick thighs like ear muffs, and if that's wrong, I don't wanna be right. When my heart pounds at her nearness, I know the truth immediately...
I'm a thigh guy.
She wants to feel more comfortable in her skin. I know exactly how to make that happen. And it has nothing to do with lifting weights.
I'm going to show her what it's like to be utterly adored. Worshipped. I plan to kiss every sumptuous curve, every hill and valley until I make Haley mine forever.
Ohmygod this is sooooo fucking cute I can’t even. This has to be probably my favorite curvy girl short story that I’ve read so far. Both characters were great but Brooks was sooooo cute it had me swooning a little bit.
Haley is a curvy girl with some thiiiiick thighs. Her friend Kimmi, a fellow fluffier girl, sends her to her brother Brooks’ gym - she had him dedicate a time for the curvier girls to work out without any “meatheads” around. Haley shows up and she’s the only one there. The moment Brooks sees her it’s like it’s love at first sight for him.
Haley is super self-conscious about her body and Brooks really helps her appreciate herself for exactly who she is. The cute shit he says... it made me tear up a little bit. I can identify with all the stuff she feels and to have a hot as fuck guy tell me things like that? Man, I’d probably combust right then and there. I couldn’t stop smiling all throughout this damn book.
The story he told about his grandparents and then the way he proposed to Haley? Ugh, my heart.
Yeah it was super insta-love and cheesy like that but it just really got to me for some reason. And Haley’s weight/body issues were mentioned all throughout the book instead of just mentioned once and forgotten. It was the focus of the book which I am SO happy that I finally found a curvy girl book I feel satisfied with!!!
(okay, off my hype train now...)
So yeah, I am super looking forward to the next books in this series and I just hope they make me feel as good as this one did.
Stars: 5 Length: Lunch Break Read POV: Dual Series: The Chub Club Book 1 (Stand Alone) Ending: HEA Re-read? Yes
"Love at first sight. Another thing my friends didn’t believe in. But I knew it could be real. My grandparents taught me that one. Married on day three and fifty years later they were still in love. It was decided. Haley was mine. She didn’t know it yet, but if I had my say, she was about to find out."
This book got five stars from me for one reason and one reason only... BROOKS. I absolutely adore him. He can be my new book boyfriend. He is absolutely swoon worthy. He is a man who is romantic and has his priorities straight. Where can I purchase one of him please?
Haley was okay, she was kinda blah. I think I would be a much better match for Brooks. That's all I'm saying lol. Do I like the name The Chub Club? No, I find it cringy. It could have been names so many other things!
I’m always going to pick up a book about a plus-size heroine. Throw in insta love and I’m sold! I really enjoyed Brook and Haley’s romance. It was super cute and I love that he wanted to show her to love her body and never once made her feel less than beautiful. This was a quick read cute read and I can’t wait to read about the rest of the Chub Club.
Romance genre: insta-love Series: The Chub Club Length: 81 pages
Plot: Brooks owns a gym and his sister has convinced him that opening for an extra hour for plus-sized girls would be a good idea, so that they can exercise without the regular gym folk looking at them. He's not as convinced, especially since only one person shows up: Haley. But when he meets her, it's suddenly okay, because he knows she's The One. She's embarrassed to be there, though. She's chubby and insecure, and Brooks is very fit. Gorgeously fit. But he knows what he's doing. He makes her feel valued. He shows her how beautiful and perfect she is to him.
Character development: I loved this story. The part where she catches his phone is hilarious - I could definitely picture it in my mind (which is down to good writing). Brooks was such a sweet character and Haley is a sort of everywoman.
A sweet and steamy instalove story. I really liked Haley and Brooks. They were so cute together. Their story is very fast paced by the second day of them together they make a big decision, so if you're not into instalove stories don't get this novella. If you love the instant connection some characters show in books, you will love this one.
Thick Thighs Save Lives....and cellphones!! This story was exactly what I needed at the exact time I needed it. It's love at first sight for Brooks and Haley although it took a little while for Haley to believe in it. I absolutely LOVED everything about this story but I think my very favorite part is how hard Brooks worked to make Haley comfortable in her own skin. He made her feel like she was perfect just the way she was and that she didn't need to change anything. A fairly smooth and easy road on the way to their Happily Ever After. Although it's kind of a happy for now rather than a happily ever after.
I consider this a completely safe story. There is no cheating, abuse or om/ow drama, no others after meeting and there is no mention of a previous relationship other than in an abstract kinda way. I can't wait to read the next book in the series!
Cute, very quick read. BBW romance about a shy girl and sweet hunk. Haley and Brooks were set up by Brooks' little sister under the guise of a workout session. The ladies had formed The Chub Club in order to embrace their curves and be more confident. Kimmie's brother owns a gym and she convinced him to close for an hour in order to allow some fluffy clients to come in. As soon as Brooks sees Haley he is smitten and then their romance blossoms from their.
There is insta-love on both sides and they act on it pretty quickly.
This series is safe and cute. Instalove and adorable men who cry. What I didn’t like about it is the chub club name. As a bbw myself it felt like degrading. Yeah I’ve joked about my thunder thighs but every time they made jokes or talked about the girls being big. It felt wrong. And the epilogues weren’t long enough
A good insta love story. It was short a sweet. Just what I needed. Also this is my first reading this author. I’m hoping some of her other books are longer and a deeper. But I am going to finish this series.
So I bought this after seeing an ad for the third in the series on my Facebook Page. It was a very quick read. It had some good things about it, had promise. It didn’t blow me away, so I don’t know that I’ll read on in the series. Yeah it was only 99 cents, but usually I prefer to get the first book in a series free, especially when it is an author I haven’t read before and am not sure of.
Zero stars. This is awful, basic, badly written and so short it took like 30 minutes to read. Also, seriously sick of so called authors who don't bother to learn how to use basic punctuation. Every single sentence in this extremely short story was riddled with punctuation problems, punctuation that should not be there, including sentences broken up by full stops that should not be there. There were missing punctuation marks, including on the heroine's name, when it says, 'Haley eyes went wide', should clearly be 'Haley's eyes went wide'.
If you can't afford an editor then at least use a free programme on a local library computer like Word, it highlights wrong punctuation and grammar for you. Or do a damn Google search for the rules of writing, if your publishing a damn story an expecting people to read it. Such lazy writing!
I wouldn't normally be so irritable but Amazon is now flooded by badly written books / short stories, published by lazy, uncaring, so called authors. If you are going to publish a book, and expect people to spend their time and money on what you've written, then the least you can do is actually write the flipping thing properly, instead of wasting readers time and agitating them this rubbish.
To give an all round review, not only was the writing ability shown by these supposed authors ve4y basic, even the story was very basic. The heroine said she had been in the gym with the hero for over an hour, yet the scene was literally him walking her around the room, a brief couple of seconds of dialogue about his sister and her mother, them standing in front of a mirror with him asking her a question, her answering it, then his friend showing up, him going upstairs with that friend for a couple of minutes and that's it!
They did no exercises, used no equipment, talked about nothing else and yet, that was supposed to be them spending over an hour together. Awful. Very basic. It's so short, not even close to an hour of reading, let alone the several hours any decent book should be 6o build a story and give characters depth.
I guess the authors thought because this was 'free' on kindle unlimted that they would just throw out a basic, badly writing piece of nothing and readers should be happy, since they're getting to read it for free. But we pay £8 a month for KU and this isn't worth paying a penny for it.
Any author worth their salt should surely want everything they produce, even a short story, to be decent, but not these authors, not if this is anything to go by. Basic. Short. Badly written. A waste of the less than an hour it took to read it. Zero stars.
A potato chip read. Nice, likeable, but without much substance to it.
Unbeknownst to either of them, Kimmie has set up her brother Brooks (H) and her friend Haley (h) under the guise of personal training sessions. Brooks is smitten, but Haley lacks confidence because of her weight - especially around someone as fit as Brooks. Will he be able to show her what he sees in her?
Brooks is very cute - not one of my adorkable favorite leads, but still a great H. He's super patient with Haley and determined to show her her worth. Haley was a little flat, but I did like how she was trying to make the effort to accept herself, be healthy in her own skin, and also address her body issues - how she tended to judge both herself and Brooks by their appearances. Low drama insta-love on both sides.
Well edited and easily readable - only caught 1 typo.
Alternating 1st person POV. No cheating, no OW/OM drama, no love triangle nonsense. Just two people with communication and confidence challenges opening up to each other. Fast, light, happy, fluffy, but not as memorable as some. An enjoyable afternoon escape. HEA with no cliffhangers and short-term epilogue. Hints dropped for additional stories in the series.
Would I read more in this series? Sure, especially if other KU/free Kindle finds.
Hailey and Brooks have a whirlwind romance set up by his kid sister, Kimmi. This has been orchestrated under, the pretense of getting, time at the gym. Since, Kimmi is the head, of the Chub Club. That they will be is allowed, the last hour of the day, one day a week, to work out there. All this is without her brother’s, regular clients, present.
The women just didn’t feel like they could work out comfortably. Having the men present, not all, but some, who would make fun of them, would only kill their spirit. Brooks waits, no one shows up, he is about to call it, a failed attempt when, Kimmi calls.
Telling him, her bestie is on her way, for a private lesson. Brooks is ready to blow up at her when, the bell above the door chimes, and there stands, Hailey. She walks in, and he sees his voluptuous future, standing in front of him.
Brooks is a romantic. Hearing stories of his grandparent's, first meeting has always made him, a believer. So, he knew, Hailey is it. Hailey, on the other hand, feels sparks, when she sees, Brooks, too. Two types. One, of lust. The other, of shear thought of murder, towards Kimmi. Mainly, for thinking, she could ever feel comfortable, taking lessons, from a sexy man, like Brooks.
This is one of those instalove quickie stories. One to make you feel good and remember those old stories of love. And those os love at first sight and true love.
This was definitely one of the better instaloves I've read. I mean, Brooks was so sweet and romantic, Haley was very much relatable — well, except for jumping into a relationship with a guy she barely knows, but this is instalove, after all — and both were really cute together, even if their names combined sound like a country music duo. Also, the impression I got of Haley during the book's one and only love scene was that she was not a virgin beforehand, so there's that. However, it felt like there were a couple of things missing overall. For one thing, the one love scene we got, while hot and sweet, was over with just a bit too soon for my taste. Like, the author just skipped over some of the juicier bits and went straight to the grand finale, leaving me wholly, ahem, unsatisfied. For another, while Brooks and Haley did have good chemistry, I feel like a bit more time could've been devoted to the hero's actual pursuit of Haley. The chase was done before it had really started getting going, again leaving me with little satisfaction.
But again, this was one of the better ones, though make of that what you will, as I'm not sure what that says about my standards.
I enjoyed reading Thick Thighs Save Lives: A Bite-sized BBW Romance(The Chub Club Book 1). All about Haley McCool a young woman in her mid-twenties who owns her own Marketing firm online and works from home & Brooks Bigby in his thirties who owns his own gym called Big B Fitness. Haley goes to the gym, because she needs to trim down and be happy. Her BFF Kimmi arranged with her brother Brooks to open the gym @ 4pm and cater to her Chub Club friends. Haley came in joined the gym during Chub Club time. Read about Haley & Brooks and see where things fall out during her gym adventure!! If you enjoy reading about big beautiful women, then. Read story. The author wrote a unique story, that I enjoyed reading!!
Nothing like a funny, cute, sexy insta-love story between a certifiable Adonis of a man with a heart of gold, and a beautiful fluffy woman who loves hedgehogs. And what’s best, they both believe in soulmates.
Awwww…
This book is really nothing serious. No drama, no third act break-up, or plot twists to muddle through. It is extremely fairytale-like. But when you just want to get through a light but quite sexy book, this will just do.
And personally, well I needed this short 13 chapters with an epilogue most unrealistic love story to get me over a reading dry-spell. Sigh… I love a cute contemporary fairytale.
Most people who are a little heavy are nervous to go to a gym for a host of reasons. Haley is no different. She is regretting going to her friend's brother gym. She is nervous and uncomfortable from the moment she walks in. Add in that she starts to insta lust after Brooks.
Brooks is a man who owns the gym but he is a genuinely good guy. He wants to help people feel good about themselves and agrees to his sisters suggestion. The instant attraction he feels for Haley is out of this world and he will do whatever he can to make her feel amazing inside and out.
This is a cute insta-love romance. The story is a very quick one that could be enjoyed before bed or even during a lunch hour. It is a quick escape from reality.
Brooks is a gym owner and his sister sends her friend Haley over so Brooks could become her personal trainer. It is written in a dual POV format. You get to see how unsure Haley is over this gorgeous guy who seemingly wants her. From Brooks' POV, you get to see how much he wants to build her confidence up as she is stunning in his eyes.
This is a sexy read so I can only recommend this book to anyone over the age of 18.
It was ok. Could have been better. I guess I’m just not into what went down. Day 1- *met * asked her on a date, she said no * she regretted it, got his number and text him * they “flirt” and he comes over * they “make love” Day 2- * woke up late and asked her on a date( he spent the night) * 7pm they leave for the date at his house * they don’t eat dinner * he pops the question and asks her to marry him.
Like literally, you’ve know this person 24hours and you wanna get married? Like WTF?
Brooks knew when he saw Haley, she as the one, just like his grandfather did when he met is grandma at the Fountain, what a wonderful story of how met and fell in love. Brooks is not only romantic, but Chivalry isn't dead when it comes to Brooks, he loves Big and made Haley feel that she is the most beautiful woman inside and out. This such a Beautiful, steamy, story of love. Now married and expecting twins, wishing them all the best. Where are the real men out there like him? Is it a fantasy?
I could really connect with Haley... not because I want to work out or anything... CP kinda prevents most exercises. But because of how she perceives herself when it comes to attractiveness. I'm a big girl myself, and in the past, I have self-sabotaged relationships because I didn't think I was 'worthy enough' to have an attractive man because I myself wasn't thin/pretty/attractive.
So, I could really connect with Haley's feelings on a personal level.
Looking forward to reading the rest of the series!!
Brooks and Hailey meet at his gym where she is going to work out to hopefully make her self happy. She is a plus size woman and wants to work out to make her feel better about her body. Brooks first sees her and the sparks fly. He wasn't expecting her and she wasn't expecting him. When he asked her out and she says no, will she change her mind? Will he be able to show her how he really feels? Can they both come to terms with how fast their relationship is going? A sweet, romantic, fast burn read. I was pulled right in and I can't wait to read the next.
A fun, quick instalove romance read about Social Media Manager, Haley who is a plus size curvy beauty who is persuaded by her best friend to go for a one on one session with her personal trainer brother and gym owner, Brooks. It's instant mutual attraction and their story touches on Haley's body insecurity compared to Brooks's very fit body. But Brooks is very sweet and sincere and genuinely likes her for exactly who she is. This book is told from a dual point of view and it was an enjoyable bite sized read.
His sister talked him into closing his gym for plus size ladies working out without Meatheads judging them. Then she walks in and he found his future. He knew that he had work to do show that she's fantastic and he flirted. She said no to a date but gotten his number from his sister to txt him. They had their date, told her about his grandparents and propose 3 days later like his granddad.
I really enjoyed reading this story. Looking forward to the next book in the series. I liked the real, the unexpected, and the fact that they both believed in soul mates. This book did talk about some serious issues, openly and honestly, which I appreciated. Loved the ending. It was perfect for this book.
