It has covered a wide range of services offered by Google Cloud Platform. The discussion are detailed. Along with explanations of GCP services, Dan has discussed how to choose right technical tool for different business scenarios. Readers would suppose to be benefited by understanding how does the design decisions has been made. I would suggest this book to the software engineers who would like to groom themselves as an architect. In other words, this book will help you to think like an architect - the basic principles.
So good to be able to read a guide for the exam instead of watching videos.
Even though it's a book about Google services to pass an exam, there's an overview of a lot of good basic knowledge in the book, which is one of the reasons I think that cloud certification is often one of the highest returning investments an engineer can make.
I really liked it. Have been studying a while for the exam and this is the first source with a very clear and simple explanation of networking solution. Would like some more relevant/harder questions to the exam, but I guess Whizlabs will take care of that part.
The book is great to get a high level overview of what a proper cloud architect is expected to do. Outside of just preparing for the exam, I learned good tips and details on activities related to cloud migration, carve outs and other enterprise level activities an architect is facing.
As part of the certification, it is nice to have a lot of sample questions. While this is in no way a guarantee to validate the exam, it does its job of preparing you to it
This book is now legacy, due to the updated exam. It is well written and works well with the Coursera Google Cloud Certification: Cloud Architect courses. The book and courses together enabled a passing grade on the certification test to become a Google Cloud Certified - Professional Cloud Architect. All together it took about 4 months, but could be completed faster if more time was dedicated.
If you are looking for resource for GCP certification, I would recommend.
Overall, a good high-level description of GCP services. A couple of things that would've made it better: 1. Since the CPA exam contains questions from 1 of the 4 business cases, it would help if they were organized in a chapter with a description of the architectural choices. 2. Reduce verbose sentences. 3. Provide a table summary of the differences between services 4. Include Practice Exams in the book
