Timberlyn is determined to get answers when she returns for her sophomore year at Ravenwood Academy for the Exceptionally Gifted.
After a brutal attack at the end of her freshman year leaves her questioning her very nature, she sets out to find the truth about Ravenwood and the students who walk the academy’s halls. One thing’s for sure—nothing at Ravenwood is as it seems.
When she arrives on campus, she learns that she has a new roommate who’s supposedly just like her, and a new class that promises answers to her questions. And then there’s the more personal question of whether or not she can trust Alarick Wolf. She gets the answer to that question soon enough, but no one else seems eager to share their secrets. That’s never stopped her before, and it’s not stopping her now.
Timberlyn knows there is more to the story than she’s getting. Delilah haunts her dreams, and even though her friends tell her to leave well enough alone, that’s not Timberlyn’s style. Nothing can stop her from finding the truth—about Delilah, about the school, and about herself.
Nothing can stop her, that is, except the truth itself.
Soo this little book just landed in my lap a couple days ago…and I finished it yesterday…It’s due for release on the 16th November I believe, so just a little longer for fans of this series to wait. So don't forget to go preorder it! 🙂
I will apologise in advance my brain keeps dozing off and thinking that it doesn’t need to function…which in all honesty makes it extremely hard to write, it keeps nodding off and I just left like huh what happened?
Wake up brain! So if my review is lacking, blame it on my brain…and if you feel like I left anything out just comment below asking me anything you want to know more about.
Like the first book I thoroughly enjoyed myself reading this. I loved how the story plot got thicker and expanded and I’m honestly very curious where the next book will lead! Lena definitely (man I just took way too long trying to spell that word lol 🤦🏻♀️) but yes back to important things, Lena really knows how to write her books! She knows just how much information to drop, while still leaving the mystery alive and to leave you trying to piece it all together.
But aside from the story building which was amazing, I also really loved the intensity and watching as the characters grew as well. Without that in a story, I feel it loses something vital. Like the thing that makes it tick.
So I was happy to see this in the majority of characters. For some reason Svana and Viktor lost their appeal to me in this one…but I also loved that they showed up without question at the end, which is important as well. Just something about them wasn’t working for me. I felt like they should’ve tried harder to be more involved even with how the Wolf boys claimed Timberlyn as theirs. But I understand why they couldn’t, but still. I felt the friendship they built in book one was really tested here, especially with Timberlyn learning the truth and all that about them. So for me friendship building didn’t really happen for me…I just would’ve loved to see more of their friendship being strengthened instead of it mainly just being at the end of the book. But I can move past that. Coz they did come through in the end.
I really loved returning to see more of Timberlyn’s sassy ways and how she never just let things happen just because. She fought for the things she wanted and stood her ground when peeps tried to push her around. I need some classes from this chick
Also me, coz this chick does not like confrontation lols. #Runaway
So a little about this story…we are back at the start of a new year and Timberlyn is returning back to Ravenwood with a family that's still a little clingy after the ‘animal attack’…but our girl isn’t one to runaway from her problems and she knows she has to go back. Upon returning she is determined to find her answers…and she learns a lot. Some of the answers come easier then others but not everything is that easy. There is a lot going on that She isn’t aware of and even the Wolf boys aren’t.
You see when she was bitten by the Big Bad Mr Wolf you remember that? How could you forget! One thing you learn early on, is that Timberlyn is nothing like what they expected. First off she still smells completely human.
Which shouldn’t be possible and yet here she stands. I cannot really say a lot because even the blurb itself doesn’t cover much…and if I start telling you the plot of the book BOOM mystery field gone!
But I will say I loved how the bonds between Alarick and Timberlyn grow and even between the other Wolf brothers. And I also like how protective Alarick becomes and a teensy bit, okay, um a lot possessive of Timberlyn. We knew he couldn’t stay away forever. Timberlyn is too awesome and her ways are just too charming to you.
The one thing I will say though is that to me the way Timberlyn acted, kept making me forget her age (I think she was only meant to be fifteen), which is all well and good but with some of the things that were happening I was like hmm I think I would’ve preferred her to be a little bit older.
Prepare yourself for some good binge reading as this stuff is good and you know how the initial thing was just finding mates? by the end alliances are being made and a very interesting turn of events develops right at that pesky end lol. But its not a huge cliffy, just one that makes you want more and ends it like…
If you were lovers of Ravenwood Academy Year One you are in for a treat and won’t be disappointed. I’m so curious to find out more like there’s some things I just NEED the answers to. There’s a certain name I want to drop but I cant. I wont.
But I’ll leave you with this quote.
“They have to be here, I told myself. It wouldn’t be Ravenwood without them. And though I shouldn’t have wanted to see them again, I did. I’d spent an entire summer waiting for answers, and let’s just say patience was not one of my virtues.”
Thank you Lena for another amazing book to read. I can’t wait until the next one in this series is released. C’mon already is it out yet?
ONE INCREDIBLE TREAT!!! Fantastic! Lena Mae jumps right over gold and hits platinum, drilling through mayhem, shenanigans and chaos that fuses this jewel together one jagged piece at a time. A barrage of daunting circumstances and a bevy of inadvertent contingencies propel those conflicting emotions to life smoothly. Show stopping drama, hidden secrets, intrigue, danger and suspense spirals keeping you riveted on a razors edge. Turmoil and distress along with perplexing situations that propels this bad boy into a tailspin with staggering results. Jumping hoops, hurdling trials and tribulations that tests our characters in ways they never saw coming. The chemistry builds as each layer is peeled back exposing a growing bond and amplifying affections that catapult this jewel to life flawlessly. The characters are authentic and realistic with on point personalities and depth that blew this baby wide open and exposed in all it's glory. The scenes are so colorfully described it gives the illusion you were right there in the middle of ground zero with them. Remarkable job Lena Mae, thanks for sharing this bad boy with us.
The 2nd in this series has more crooks and turns than a fun house at the carnival - only problem is it ain't fun to read so stopped at ch 6 - no more of this book, series or author.
Our MC Timberland seems to have learned from her mistakes from the previous book... Except she didn't! We love a stubborn MC. If at first you don't succeed and all of that. In this book, we completely ignore the ending of the last book and flat-out start with the beginning of the new school year. We will revisit the end of last term sometime later.
Our friend Timmy, as I like to call her, is now a werewolf because she was bitten by Mr. Wolf... or is she? She is... or is she...? That's kind of the conflict we face at the beginning of the book in a more simplified manner. Because, as we all know, she is special. They always are, that's what makes things interesting! So since she's special, she didn't get the craziness Brooklyn had to go through when she was forcibly changed and she hasn't even changed into a wolf like everyone else seems to have to, so we don't actually know if the bite took... except that's impossible, which means she IS a wolf... right?
Now that we have that covered, we have the weird vibe that Timmy has with her wolf boy and the fact that her friend Victor totally has a crush on her, as we know from the previous book. Jacob? Edward? Is that you? Except she's a wolf, so Edward is immediately disqualified... or is he? Since we don't actually know if she's a wolf... that's yet to be decided. Will Jacob get the girl this time? Oh, right, sorry. Will Wolf Boy get Timmy from the well? Sorry lol I can't help it. Will Alarick, sexy Wolf extraordinaire, get with Timmy? Maybe, but there's more at stake here. She wasn't turned into a maybe-wolf for the heck of it. The future of Wold Kind is resting on her shoulders! Unless it isn't. We actually don't know if the wolves need to keep turning girls against their will or if she's the key. We just don't know all of the facts yet, and neither does anyone else.
Did you think i forgot about the insta friends? Not at all!! Because these super loyal friends are back! Well... most of them. Our girl Delilah got offed by the wolves at the end of the previous book, so... the OTHER loyal friends are back! And we replaced our girl Delilah with Ally (the girl MC kinda saved on the previous book!) But now that Timmy is a wolf she can't be friends with her friends the Vampires for obvious reasons that no one will disclose to us because it's obvious... or something. But Timmy isn't a wolf so they CAN be friends, but then can't because she kinda is a wolf even if she isn't a wolf...? It's complicated and no one gets it, least of all Ally and Timmy who are new to the supernatural. As I have read PLENTY of books about this, I know that Vamps and Wolves hate each other because they just DO. So now that that's cleared, we can move on to the most important thing of all....
Did I like the book? Absolutely. Total YA vibes, a very clearly one-sided love triangle, parents who pretend to care just enough to be a complication to the MCs plans, but not enough to keep their daughter safe, eccentric grandmother who has answers but doesn't actually have answers, a school for the supernatural that takes in humans for nefarious reasons, a problem that needs solving and an MC stubborn and crazy enough to try to solve it at the cost of, not just her life but also that of her friends who had no intention of getting involved until she showed up, even though they knew about it.l before she showed up to stir trouble. Every sheep is a hero when they have someone to lead them to the slaughter after all.
What's not to like? I joke, but I'm actually enjoying myself.
This is the second novel in the Ravenwood Academy trilogy of young adult paranormal mystery by Lena Mae Hill. The series should be read in order. It’s fun and exciting, so I do recommend it to fans of this genre.
The characters are interesting, and I’m enjoying getting to know them better and watching them grow. Our main character, 15-year-old Timberlyn, can sometimes be impulsive and melodramatic, but that makes sense for her age. She is learning about her own values and the kind of person she wants to be, and I love that she is willing to stand up for herself and her friends. Timberlyn’s classmates have their own quirks and flaws, and everyone seems to have secrets.
I liked that the romance is a slow burn, although I wish that Alarick wasn’t so possessive and jealous. The story is interesting, with interspecies tensions and conflicting goals straining relationships. So much happens so quickly toward the end, it felt a bit disjointed to me.
This quick read easily held my interest, and I look forward to finding out what happens next!
I really enjoyed the narration by Vanessa Moyen. Her performance was well paced and easy to understand, and I love her character voices. I think this is a great choice for listening.
I was provided a free review copy of this audiobook by the author via StoryOrigin; I volunteered to provide an honest review.
What a twisted web the author has woven, completely sucking me into her trap and making me want more! This is the second book in the series and they need to be read in order so make sure to start with Year One. I have no idea how there was so much going on in an audiobook that was only 5.5 hours long, but there was so much that happened over the course of one school year. The story was full of action and all kinds of supernatural creatures, as well as having all the high school drama you could wish for and a touch of romance. The ending was a huge cliff hanger, making me want the next book so I can see how this current crisis will ever be resolved. This is the perfect read for anyone who loves werewolves, vampires, paranormal romance and supernatural mysteries.
My one hang up on the story is that I wish the characters were older. The main character is barely fifteen and has sex and lusts after guys, there is a lot of dark subject matter discussed and tons of nudity, as well is very independent and acts/thinks just like an adult. I think this plot would be best in a college setting (making it NA) instead of the super young teen it is really about.
The second installment continues where book 1 ended. We were able to see what Timberlyn had to endure after the ending of the first book and how her parents behaved. I thought it was interesting to see how her parents acted. I feel like we may possibly find out more later. I wasn’t a big fan or Timberlyn in the first book. I found her to be a bit immature but in this installment I really loved how she matured and stood up for what is right. So I definitely liked her in this installment. We see more of Alaric and they guys in this installment and it was interesting to see. I really like him in this book. I love how this series is paranormal and it also has mystery woven into it. There was certainly some plot twists thrown in there. Eager to find out what happens in the next installment! I listened to the audiobook narrated by Vanessa Moyen. She does a fabulous job narrating the book. It literally takes you away to another world. I received a free copy of this audiobook, and I’m reviewing it voluntarily. I would recommend this series if you enjoy the world of supernatural, mystery, and academy books. It’s definitely worth checking out!
Year One was a big mystery with a hint of romance. Year Two is a a love story with a bit of mystery. Timberlyn and Alerick spend quite a bit of time exploring what is between them. There are a lot of relationship shifts in this book. And other shifts too. The huge cliff hanger at the end of Year One - oh yeah, that gets addressed to and only leads to more questions.
The second half of this book delves into those questions and just when you think you are figuring out what is is going on throws you for another loop. The danger and intensity really ramps up by the end. I thought I knew what was coming and did get some of it right, but there were a few things I did not see coming at all.
Whenever the characters ages are mentioned it is jarring to me. Timberlyn is supposed to be 15 in this book. They behave more like college aged students than high school students.
This is book 2 in the Ravenwood Academy series and does end with a cliffhanger. This is a series that needs to be read in order as the books build on each other. Fast, exciting reads.
This Book starts as Timberlyne returns to Ravenwood after a summer at home with her parents. Despite being bitten by a werewolf, she has not yet turned into a werewolf, and indeed, no one knows what kind of supernatural creature she is, but since she was not killed or turned, she cannot be a pure human. She confirms that her friends Viktor and Svana are indeed vampires, and Amy was turned to save her life after being bitten in the previous book. Delilah is dead, killed by the wolves. The mutual attraction between Timberlyne and Alarick increases dramatically. Nature takes its course, despite Timberlyne's desire to the contrary. New friends are made, old ones left out. Many secrets are shared and discovered; more of Timberlyne's history is revealed. There is much more romance and sexual tension in this book, though in addition an incredible amount of exciting action as the werewolves, humans, and vampires interact, sometimes violently. Be advised, the ending is another cliffhanger.
Audio book review Book 2 in the series . This picks up where book 1 ended. It’s the start of a new school year . Lena Mae wrote a story that will take you along for a wild ride. The characters are well written , strong , with well detailed scenes. . I love the wolf brothers, en thought they are mixed up. Timberlyn wants answers Of what is really going on at Riverside. Timberlyn finally finds out what is going on with the special students and why the Academy is inviting non special students. Timberlyn was bitten by Mr Wolf and the rest of the Wolfs wants to see if Timberlyn will turn into a wolf , if she does she might be the chosen one . Timberlyn hides what she can do , she wants to destroy what Mr Wolf future plans are , will she , Mr Wolf might be one up on her . He sets a trap for Timberlyn. Grab it and find out
Vanessa Moyen Performance was strong, , her tone for each character was great. Her voice is strong
What a great read / listen. Narration was great and I have to say that I really enjoyed this story line a bit better than book / year 1. I will say that while this could possibly be a stand alone I highly recommend reading book 1 to get the necessary background needed to fall in love and get the most from this book. Timberlyne is back at Ravenwood after being home with her parents for the summer and she can't wait to get some much needed answers. Will these answers be what Timberlyne needs to find herself or will it be her undoing? The book ends with yet another cliffhanger so I am on pins and needles awaiting the next in this series. Love the characters that Hill gives us in this read - strong and courageous and trying to stay true to who you really are. GREAT READ!
This book was given to me for free at my request and I provided this voluntary review. *this review is based on the audio version of this read
I received a free audio copy of this book directly from the author for an honest review.
This book is most definitely full of twists and turns and you honestly never really know who you can actually trust. For a 15 year old Timberlyn is a very well rounded character and not your usual ‘omg stop being a twit teenager and be sensible!’ Yes she will jump into dangerous situations but she doesn’t do it without thinking it through first a nice change. The world building is interesting and pretty unique for an academy book. The plot is most definitely fast paced maybe a little too fast paced at times for my liking as I don’t always know what’s going on but that’s pretty much the point I think sometimes! The end of book 2 will definitely have you burning for more answers. If it’s anything like the beginning of book 2 you might be waiting a while for the answer of the cliffhanger urrrgh! Evil 😈🤣
This starts where the first left off. Definitely read in order.
Timberlyn has been bitten and Alarick hasn't left her side. He's sure she's his mate and she's pretty besotted with him too. At this time, she's brought into the "cool kid" group, though it isn't what she expected. Brooklyn is her roommate and pretty nasty to her, even though they are both victims.
Amy didn't survive her bite, but Victor saved her by turning her into a vampire.
Lots of teen angst (in a good way) and more investigations. Timberlyn has to play along, but she's not down with the pack potentially killing innocent human girls just to find potential mates. Mr. Wolf is a creep still, and causing problems.
This also ends in a total cliffhanger, like the last book.
This was a great read! I really enjoyed the story. This one picks up a few months after the last one leaves off but we do learn the important parts that we need to know. We get to learn more about what is going on with the Wolf Boys. There are quite a few twists in this story. It does end on a cliffhanger again and I can't wait for the next book. There are plenty of twist and turns to hold your attention the entire way through. It will keep you guessing and waiting for the next twist that is going to come. I am very excited to find out what happens next. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.
Only bought this book so I could get resolution to the cliffhanger ending of the first book (well played author). Still wouldn’t want young teenagers reading this book with the sexual material. There’s a lot of talk of nakedness due to shifting between human and werewolf, Pervy older men lusting after underage girls, sexual encounters in boarding school dorm rooms - descriptions I wouldn’t call explicit but honestly more detailed than they needed to be particularly for the younger side of the intended YA audience. I did become invested enough in the story to want to read the final book and see if my predictions about the ending were right.
Ok - I only started reading to see if this continues where book 1 finished and ended up reading well into the night. Any book that does that deserves at least 4 stars. Timberlyn did frustrate me at times in this book but she is 15 - though in paranormal world age is irrelevant. There were some holes in the storyline but that can be forgiven for the really good world building and strong characterisation. I really had to stop myself from going onto book 3 to get some sleep. This was a much needed change of reading pace for me.
This book was meh... The book was well written and easy to listen to. The plot kept my interest and I found myself really wanting to know what happens to Timberlyn and Alarick and if they will get their happily ever after. The cliff hangers are so hard to handle that I found myself wanting to get the 3rd book to find out what happens. This book is a solid 3.5 stars! I would recommend for a light fast read, especially if you just read something heavy or a long series and need something light, fun and not too heavy or thought provoking.
Wolf Cursed: Ravenwood Academy: Year Two was another great read by Lena Mae Hill. Timberlyn is returning to Ravenwood Academy for her sophomore year. She's determined to get answers about the school and students. She has a new roommate who is supposedly just like her. She is still questioning if she can trust Alarich Wolf. Timberlyn continues to question everything because she doesn't get the answers she believes. This was a great read and I can't wait to read more in this series.
What is going to happen to Timberland? I can’t wait to find out.
Timberland is trying to figure out who and what she is. She knows she can shift into a wolf but still smells like a human. So what’s going on? She is trying to help and save so many people.
Can she keep her friends from killing each other? Can they even stay friends? Do any of them really know what’s going on? So many questions..... can’t wait to get to the next book.
When I started reading, I enjoyed it. But the further I got, the less interested I became. It’s a good book but, it didn’t feel quite right. Yes there was suspense and mystery, yes the story was well made, but I just wasn’t for me. It was missing something. The more I read, the clearer it became. It was missing adventure, the story didn’t move forward. It was as if it was always at the same place but with slight changes. I just stopped reading in the middle.
Omg, I don't really know what to say but WOW! This book was very well written. The excitement, the thrill, the courage, the Suspense, and the danger. This is a must read/ listen. BUT YET AGAIN LENA HILL LEAVES US WITH A FREAKING CLIFFHANGER. GIRL YOUR KILL ME HERE.😳😳🤦♀️🥺🥺 I can't wait to get my hands on the next book. Lena you are becoming one of my favorite authors.
Wolf Cursed: Ravenwood Academy: Year Two: Wolf Moon (Ravenwood Academy, #2), my second read/listen from author Lena Mae Hill, an author I'd wanted to read for some time and never got around to it. 5-hours 27-minute/285-page listen. I was given an Audible copy of this book and I'm voluntarily reading & reviewing it because every great book needs reviews. The gifting of this audiobook did not affect my opinion of it. Narrator Vanessa Moyen's narration, my first time listening to her, adds to the book's enjoyment. I look forward to reading more from this author and I definitely need to read Wolf Song: Ravenwood Academy: Year Three: Wolf Moon (Ravenwood Academy, #3)! (RIP Marley January 20, 2014 - July 24, 2018).
My review is based on the audiobook. This book does a great job continuing the story. We get some answers and character growth but are still left wanting more. The narrator is wonderful bringimg the story to life. Im invested in these characters and am looking forward to the next book
Audio Review: Wolf Cursed (Ravenwood Academy: Year Two) is just as riveting as book one. Oddles of suspense and romance swirling through the pages. Well detailed world building descriptions and settings. The writing style is vivid and intriguing. Absolutely loved it. Looking forward to listening to the next audio in this series when available.
Narrator Vanessa Moyen is the perfect choice to narrate this series. In my opinion her inflection fits the characters perfectly Her tone is age appropriate and distinctive between characters. I loved her performance and cant wait for more.
Ohhhj yeah she is so freaking awesome I love werewolf books I'm kinda upset that this ended this way on a cliff hanger I'm also glad the third book is out love it
