Crescent Cove

Fireman Daddy

Rate this book
I got my happily-ever-after…except it wasn’t.

My HEA ended when my formerly star quarterback husband slept with—no, not our old head cheerleader. Someone else. Hello, this isn’t a Lifetime movie.

So, I left New York City and went home to small town Crescent Cove. I’d inherited a bar that was apparently the watering hole for local firemen. Super hot firemen, namely one in particular.

Okay, so maybe this is a Lifetime movie.

Especially since the fire code chief—and my ex’s high school friend—keeps hassling me about getting the bar up to code, when all I want to do is get the place fixed up so I can go back to the city.

Don’t I?

But Jake is making me remember why I love my hometown. And it turns out he isn’t only good at preventing fires, he’s even better at starting them.

And the one between us may just burn forever…

Author’s note: Jake isn’t a daddy yet, but if he has his way, he’ll be knocking up Erica faster than you can say five-alarm blaze. Fireman Daddy is a 18K novella with no cliffhanger and a happily-ever-after.

4 Erica and Jake Stars

Cute short story that reads quickly and is very light. I know it's hard to cram so much information in so few pages but Ms Quinn did a great job of incorporating everything the reader needed to enjoy this!

A nice little Bite

Erica has inherited Sharkey's bar after his passing which brings her back to her hometown of Crescent Cove and it's not where she wants to be....well until she sees Jake again that is.

Jake has been in love with Erica since high school but she was dating his best friend and then married him, even though Danny wasn't the right guy for her Jake didn't make his feelings known.

Now that Erica is back and available Jake is going to make sure she knows how he feels.

This was a great little "bite" in the Crescent Cove Series, great story, great chemistry, and perfect for a quick afternoon read.

Happy Reading!!!

Erica moved away from Crescent Cove to pursue her life in the big city, now divorced but with a great job she receives news that she's inherited a bar. Going home was supposed to be temporary until she meets Jake, former friend and once best friend of her ex, he's now fire chief of Crescent cove and the man responsible for her delays ....in more ways than one!

****
Ok this was cute with just the right amount of steam, problem is it's a novella basing the couple's current feelings on their past. Now Jake I can believe, in his pov he mentions many times that he's always loved her but I'm not quite as sure of Erica. She dated and was married to his friend and he was a friend she turned to often.....but that's about all I got on her side of things. I think there needed to be a bit more fleshing out of the relationship so that we could see Erica fall in love. Plus she was a little bitchy sometimes so I wasn't 100% team Erica. Jake was adorable

I'm a fan of this series in general and while this one didn't quite work for me I'm always delighted to return to Crescent Cove.

Better epilogue needed 😭

No cheating
Erica was married to Jake's best friend but hadn't been with anyone else
Jake dated but he didn't seem to be a manwhore and it's said it's been a while for him

Jake and Erica's story is one story that will be read again and again. With alternating pov, agnst, dirty, hot, romantic and a HEA.

I received an ARC from the author to read and reveiw with my honest opinion.

Cute, hot, and fast

Cute insta-love story about a career-girl returning to her home town and finding love with a former friend. There’s very little plot or character development but it’s a nice, fast read and the sex scene was hot. Note this is not a DD/LG book despite the title. 😉

A Crescent Cove Bite that gave me all the hot and steamy love I am accustomed to when I delve into Crescent Cove. Erica and Jake…..oh man what a pair with a history. To love someone for so long and then for the stars to align and for their time to have finally come is perfection.

A strong sassy female in Erica who knows what she wants and has gone after it with a fervor that gave her all the success. And Jake who has also worked his way to be Chief of Crescent Cove’s Fire Department. Put these two together and all the sparks fly and create an attraction that is so damn hot, that you can’t help but pine over this novella. And to know that they both had feeling for each other when they were younger, but couldn’t do anything about it makes it that much more hot!!!

I am telling you that Taryn Quinn is making me want to move to Crescent Cove and find me a baby daddy of my own because the men in this town are fierce lovers, they are fiercely loyal and hot damn are they nice to imagine in my head. There is wit, there is love, there is sass, there is passion. It checkmarks all that I love about Taryn Quinn.

Give me more Crescent Cove because I never want to leave!!!! Bravo Taryn Quinn!!!

The couple: Jake and Erica

Romance trope: second chance
Series: Crescent Cove
Length: 84 pages

Plot: Erica is back in town to deal with a property that her former boss left to her. She runs into her ex-husband's high school best friend and sparks fly. But she's not sure she even wants to stay in town.

Commentary: Erica was prickly enough that it definitely worked in her favor that Jake already knew her. I'll be honest though - I didn't feel a great connection between the two characters. He was pining for her throughout high school and loved her even 15 years later, and I believed him in his internal dialogue. But at the end of a short story, she said "I love you, I always have" and there was no proof of that. Just her thinking, "maybe I did like him after all." It didn't ring true. Maybe in a longer story, it would have worked better - more time to see their friendship through flashbacks.

Connected to other book in the series: Daddy Undercover (Erica's sister Gina is the heroine in this book)

Erica is back in the town she left years ago, she inherited a bar she used to work in as a teenager. She gets to see Jake, a friend from her past, and her ex-husbands best friend..,welll best friend from high school, they don’t really keep in touch now. Erica is the girl that got away, Jake had a crush on her for years. They were around each other a hot second, before he lost his control to keep away from her. And then we get some dirty talking pool table shenanigans. Loved it.

Short, steamy, baby making, and true love…sign me up. Safe read, with a sweet hea.

FIREMAN DADDY by Taryn Quinn is a contemporary, adult, erotic, romance novella in the authors’ Crescent Cove series. This is fire fighter Jacob Mills, and marketing specialist Erica Ramos’ story line. FIREMAN DADDY can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous instalments is revealed where necessary.

Told from dual first person perspectives ( Jake and Erica) FIREMAN DADDY follows the friends to lovers relationship between fire fighter Jacob Mills, and marketing specialist Erica Ramos. Manhattanite and marketing specialist Erica Ramos hadn’t been home to Crescent Cove in years but when she inherited a small bar in need of repairs Erica knew she had no choice but to face her past. Enter Erica’s ex-husband’s one-time best friend, fire fighter and building inspector Jacob Mills. What ensues is the quick building lust to love relationship between Jake and Erica, and the potential fall-out as Erica is only in Crescent Cove for a short time.

Erica Ramos is a successful marketing specialist in Manhattan but never expected to inherit a run down bar in her home town of Crescent Cove,a bar where all the local fire fighters gather. Meeting her ex-husband’s best friend was never on the agenda but everything and everyone had changed over the years including the man that would steal her heart. Jacob Mills has always been in love with his best friend’s ex wife from the time they were only in their teens. With Erica’s visit to Crescent Cove, Jacob is desperate to reconnect, and in doing so sets his sights on his own happily ever after.

FIREMAN DADDY is a fast paced novella with a stubborn heroine, a flirty hero, and a bar in desperate need of repairs. The premise is flirty and entertaining; the romance is provocative and passionate; the heroine is strong-willed and stubborn; the hero is flirty and fun. FIREMAN DADDY is the perfect read for a sunny afternoon.

Erica's come home. But only temporarily, to assess the bar she's inherited, then either renovate it for sale, or sell it outright. But when her childhood friend is the first person she runs into, (her hot, fire chief former friend) at her new bar no less, she might have to rethink the temporary part of her plans.

Whew, this short in the Crescent Cove series is H O T!! Luckily Jake is a firefighter, because his and Erica's chemistry was seriously fire. I love how Erica came around to the realization that she belonged there, not in the city, and I really love how easily she and Jake fell for each other. This is a sweet little entry in the Crescent Cove world, and it's got me really wanting more of the quirky residents of this adorable little town.

Genre/Tropes: Character-Driven, Novella
POV: 1st, Dual
Series: Crescent Cove Bite, Book 1
STEAM LEVEL: 🔥🔥
——————

A character-driven novella with just enough steam and heart to leave me happy and satisfied after the very quick ending (cough, no puns intended there 🤣). But really, Jake and Erica’s story was a sweet little romance. Jake had always been in love with his best friend’s girl and once Erica finally left the cheating prick, she realized she’s always been in love with Jake.

It had humor, dirty talk, some spicy times, and an epilogue that left me giddy. I loved the sense of community in the small lake town and how protective everyone is of it. I loved the small bit of angst and how mature Erica handled things, even though she did throw a tantrum that had me giggling.

Jake was swoon-worthy. That man was crazy about Erica and he wasn’t afraid to show it. His reaction at the end was so endearing! But his dirty mouth stole the show!

I really liked this story. It was entertaining and enjoyable with a few exceptions. The characters were easy to relate to and likable. At times I was very frustrated with everyone as I could totally understand Erica's feelings. She wanted to have some control and everyone around her seemed to just run her over with their decisions about what she should do and how. Jake was a sweetheart. He was protective and possessive but also caring and kind. Erica seemed unhappy with how things were going but also excited that her plans were starting to be achieved. She was focused, determined, and a little lost (I think!). Jake was patient but Erica needed more communication instead of action from him. I loved their happy ever after. I recommend reading this book.

I also listened to the audiobook of this and enjoyed the narrators very much. I would also recommend listening to this book if you get a chance.

This was book 1 in the "Crescent Cove" series. This was a short quick read. Erica Ramos comes home to the Cove she inherits a bar. Jake is the Chief of Crescent Cove’s Fire Department he has been in love with Erica sends they were kids and when she comes back to town he takes his chances. This book had some really hot sex scenes in it. While fixing up the bar they get closer and when Jake is hurt on the job Erica realizes that she is in love with him although she tries to keep her distance. This was a good read by an author that I have read before. This book was well written with no errors in grammar or spelling. I am looking forward to reading the next book in this series.

There Is No Place Like Home -
This is a beautifully written tale about grabbing hold and not letting go, after missing out the first time round. This interesting storyline was set in a small town, with supportive friends and family, that will leave you wanting to live there. I couldn’t stop reading this book after I started and kept eagerly turning the pages. I will happily recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a good love story.

I received a copy of this book free and I am voluntarily leaving a review.

It’s a cute story and I like Erica’s character. I think this could’ve been pretty good had it been longer. I just don’t think I enjoy these romance novellas because they really jump into things without any sort of development, and it’s kind of extremely weird and unnatural.

What I Thought: This just wasn’t really my thing. I bought this during a spree of buying romance books that were free / on offer, and the website I was using gave a very brief, two-line description. Something about that description made me buy it, obviously, but it was months ago, and it wasn’t really the book I was expecting. I didn’t realise this was part of a baby-themed romance series
The chemistry was good and the sex was well written, but for me, whilst I like unplanned pregnancy as a trope, but I wasn’t really keen on how it was done in this book. The whole thing felt really heavy and intense, and very rushed
I sort of enjoyed it enough to finish it, and I certainly didn’t hate it, but it wasn’t the novella for me, and I won’t be seeking more from this author or the series.
Would I Recommend It?: Yes, if you’re into instalove / instalust and unplanned pregnancy, and want something very quick and steamy to read.
Would I Read Something By The Author Again?: No.

Back in the day Erica (Freckles), and Danny were dating, but as most people know, Erica, the little Spanish, Italian spitfire herself had a short fuse. So, when Danny, and she would fight, even if it was in the middle of a signal light she would hop out of his car. She’d start walking, and call their mutual friend Jacob. He was more so, Danny’s friend than hers. Yet, Danny and Jacob, had known each other since kindergarten. Danny never stayed in touch once he left.

Looking back now she did have a bit of a curious image, and romantic fascination. She can see now post divorce that, Danny was more friend at the time, and carrying the same goal to leave town, and make something of themselves. When really he was using her to, make a career for himself until, she was no longer useful then, trades her in.

When she inherits an old bar back home, from the old man that gives her, her very first job at sixteen, that wasn’t babysitting she is dumbfounded. When she goes back, she sees it had fallen into such disrepair. The fire marshal there to inspect, is none other than, Jacob (Jake). She finds herself, feeling emotions, she hasn’t in years, seeing and hearing, his voice. Him touching her when, he catches her tripping over debris, really shorts out her circuits, actually both of them. Their chemistry is off the charts.

Was Free on Amazon when I received it.

It's not insta-love if the characters have known each other forever, right? When the lovely ladies that write as Taryn Quinn show up with another Crescent Cove book, readers know that they are in for it. In for what, you ask? In for plenty of sass and steam, and all of the requisite baby-making goodness that we know is coming our way when we stop by this lovely little town.

It took me all of two lines to know that while FIREMAN DADDY, Jake's and Erica's book, is a short and spicy read, that this 'bite' would both satisfy, yet leave me wanting more. The authors consistently write characters that are yin and yang, that go together so perfectly that it's a wonder it takes them so long to realize it themselves, and Jake and Erica are no different. Sizzle and spark, from start to finish, and I loved the two of them together.

My only complaint? More, ladies, more, of these two. More of them, and more, more, more of Crescent Cove, because I would happily stay there forever. If you're a romance fan and haven't read these books, you really should. I'll bet that you find your happy place in this special place, and that you'll want to come back time and again. ❤️
