When makeup artist Ellie Carter’s bridezilla client browbeats her into being an eleventh-hour bridesmaid, she’s dumbstruck to discover that her ex-husband is one of the groomsmen. Five years earlier, following a string of tragedies that struck people dear to her, her infant daughter’s death convinced her that her curse was real. She left her husband to keep him safe, but broke her own heart in the process. Now that fate has put Cody back in her path, she’s terrified about what might happen.
Cody Harris has always regretted letting Ellie slip through his fingers despite their unbearable loss and the way that bad things seem to plague the people she loves. When she walks down the aisle and back into his life, he’s determined to convince her that his only fear is of the hole that will remain in his life if she refuses to give them a second chance.
With so much at stake, can Ellie's heart overcome the battle in her head?

I hate when people let a spouse go because they think they'll be better off without them. It stinks. That is what this heroine did. He went on to pass school became a lawyer and moved on for the most part. He had girlfriends, short strong of girls is actually what he thought, but she never moved on. They lost a child and she thought she was cursed so she divorced him. She sees him at a wedding and they still love each other. It was a short story and I shouldn't have bought it. Not worth the money. They get back together and of course an epilogue baby. Just meh.
As a big Jamie Beck fan, I hate to give this book 2 stars but alas. I think the biggest issue for me is that I just am not a fan of novellas, the story feels way too rushed for my liking and makes the relationships less believable. That being said, if this book was longer I think I really could have gotten behind the storyline as it was a unique one as far as anything that I have read.
Beautifully written second chance story about a young couple. Oh, after losing their newborn child, decide to divorce.Elle decided to divorce Cody because she was cursed. In her mind, anyone with whom she had affection with meant a terrible fate. A professional make up artist, she inadvertently winds up as one of the bridesmaids. Where is she was hired by the bride. When one of the bridesmaids becomes sick with flu, Elle takes her place so that the wedding photographs will not be off-center. Big surprise when Cody stands as one of the groomsmen. They are second chance begins to form at the wedding reception and of course there is a.HEA ending with a happy little bonus.
Jamie Beck always entertains, and her writings are engaging. I Do Again is another notch in her writing belt.
Beautifully written with love overcoming past tragedy and some nice wedding humor to boot. Perfect novella to uplift our hearts during this stressful time for all. It's a second chance story for stand-up bridesmaid, Ellie, and groomsman, Cody, straight from the heart!
A charming novella that I bought to support a Covid-19 response, a lovely little read one night before bed. If it ever comes up on Kindle, a nice little filler between books.
