Life in the Interwebs was nice and routine. I did my job at The Exchange and kept my head down. Well until I encountered a bug in the code, that turned into a tornado.
Just a baby one. No big deal, right?
How was I supposed to know it would drop me in the Outerwebs? Let alone that two of my colleagues would get sucked in behind me?
Now we’re stranded here, no job to do, no clue what’s going on and no idea how to get back.
The only thing that makes sense right now is the men around me, not only my co-workers, but the two Outers that took us in.
I have a growing need to protect them. Relationships like this don’t exist where I’m from, and I’m not letting them go now. If you knew them, you wouldn’t either.
Vortex, Book 1 in the Adventures in the Outerwebs Series, is a 103k+ word Sci-Fi Fantasy Reverse Harem Novel. This means our girl Sup3rN0va will not be forced to choose amongst her men.
It should be noted that Joanne Ganci and CA Higgins are not responsible for any messes or injuries caused due to intense laughter, nor are they responsible for an increase in battery usage one might have.
Vortex contains strong language and sexual situations (including but not limited to MM) not suitable for Outers under the age of 18. Proceed with caution as you travel through the vortex. And always remember, the size of the tornado is irrelevant if tornadoes don’t belong there.
Joanne Ganci is a hopeless romantic that more than anything wants to bring joy to the world. Whether that be through the words on the pages of her books or a friendly gesture to a stranger.
She's a bit quirky and rather anti-social, but through the characters that demand to have their stories told she is working on cracking out of her shell and emerging as a semi-dysfunctional pterodactyl. Bet you thought that was going to say butterfly. Nope, that'd be normal and Joanne is quite the opposite.
Fueled by the love of her family, she embarked on the journey as an author and somehow hasn't panicked her way into quitting. Let's hope she keeps the crazy tamped down and continues on her journey.
This was an original concept, which for RH is pretty impressive. It's is a rather odd one, though. Three 'beings' Nova, Link and Drake are digital constructs who exist in what we know as the Internet. They are spawned fully grown and their whole life seems to be working inside the Internet. Through a random glitch, Nkva manages to cause a mini tornado (yes you read that right) to appears that takes them to the real world. They quickly bump into a human Bastian, who takes them all home where they meet his room mate, Xavier.
The digital being seem to have turned into humans now they're in the human realm and they come across with the niaeve innocence of children as they try to figure out what their bodies are now capable of and how to navigate the real world. They can also still remotely connect to the internet which they're trying to work out.
So, the concept sounds quite interesting, right, so why the DNF? I didn't find any of the characters particularly interesting and they all felt like cardboard cut outs. Their dialogue was a bit cheesy and it just kept grating on me to the point that I wondered why I was keeping reading.
Bastian and Nova have a massive case of instalove, everyone liked a Nova but for no real reason why, but everyone wants to protect her and look after her all the time. They call her things like 'baby girl', which makes me throw up a bit in my mouth. That coupled with her innocence just made me feel a bit grossed out by the whole thing.
Link and Drake are clearly into each other, as is Xavier into Bastian, but Bastian is not into men (apparently) but is into Nova, and everyone seems to be into Nova. Not that it bothers me, but I wouldn't really classify the way the rance appears to be developing as RH, but menage, maybe? This didn't bother me, it was more the lack of any depth to the relationships.
However, nothing seems to be hitting the mark book wise for me recently, so I might just be being less tolerant than usual!
This was such a fun scifi read! Loved the concept of a digital race getting stuck in the outerweb, or human world. Great characters and I can't wait dor more!
I really enjoyed this slow burn science fiction story about three data files who become real people when they get accidentally transferred into the real world. Emotions are hard and so is understanding things like how to use a bathroom. Literally laughed out loud.
Love the concept of this story about Digitals living and working in the interweb. Until theyre sucked (literally) through a vortex and land in the Outerweb. A place the Interwebers Nova (SuperNova), Drake (ManDrake) and Link (Hyperlink) are not prepared for. Here starts a book about their awakening, how they cope with that, living in a new world and how they help Bastian and Xavier the characters they meet there. A great story with great characters which i think is also about finding about who you are, trust, love, acceptance and family. As well as a brilliant back story. Cant wait for book 2
This was completely unexpected. This was recommended to me but I wasn't expecting me to actually REALLY like it. This idea is so unique and I love it. I can't wait for the next one. My recommendation is to read it and immerse yourself in a truly unique world.
So, this is basically a Reverse-Harem Reverse-Tron universe, and I am 100% here for it. Even Drake eventually grew on me, but the rest of the characters drew me in instantly. Especially Nova...so cute, so funny. So sad I have to wait for the next book now!
Nova was just fixing a code. Unfortunately fixing the put a tornado in the room. The tiny tornado ends up dropping her and the two guys that she works with in the human world. Link and Drake have no idea how to get them all back. Bastian and Xavier have no idea what to make of them. There is more at play here and Nova is in the middle of it.
I love sci fi but this was beyond me, I just couldn't visualise these beings and I was just lost, its the first sco fi book this has ever happened to me n I've read Arthur c Clarke, piers Anthony, etc. This was weird. Bizarre and I've no patience to spend hours trying to understand it.
Joanne does it yet again. The beginning of the book started off a little confusing n odd to me, but I fell in love after the 2nd chapter. Both c.a. n joanne made a unique story that leaves you wanting more. Dying for more.
Interesting concept. I enjoyed this book and the characters in it. Specially the story. I felt around half way kinda slowed down and got a but repetive but once I got through it, it picked pace again. Had some sexy scenes as well.
Not going to lie, I was a little skeptical when i first started it but I really enjoyed this book! Its really awesome concept and really well written. Can't wait to read the next book.
What a fun read. I really like the element where the weird thing that our world is, is getting explained and by explaining it they see that we are all a bit biased with what we know and the question mark that rise up thanks to Nova, Link and Drake.
I must warn the people who think this RH is all about the female heroine, this book has love for all written all over it. This world doesnt revolve about her but about them all, you wont love the story any less tho so read your heart out and love love love
This was mostly a great read. Though I didn't love all aspects, it was inventive and well written.
What I Liked: * The best thing about this book, for me, was how truly unique it was. I am not a lover of sci-fi but this was great. I was so eager to read more about these digital characters. * I really liked the characters and how distinctive the authors made their personalities. * This goes along with the above point but I really loved Nova. It was so much fun discovering things with her in the Outerweb. This alone made the book worth reading. * The length of the book. I love long books provided they aren't all repetitious filler and this wasn't. * I loved the dynamics of the relationships except from the romantic aspect which I will explain in a bit. Experiencing these varied characters learning about each other and developing trust and friendship was heartening.
What I Didn't Love: * This is completely a personal preference thing that is fed from my personal experiences. This isn't something I think would bother most people but when I read an RH or any romance I wan't the FMC to be the guys' everything. Their missing piece or raison d'etre. I want the romance to feel epic with the female being the center whether there is M/M relationships or not. Unfortunately, for most of this read, Nova didn't feel like the priority romantically. For three of the guys, she felt superfluous and secondary if even that. It bothered me, a lot, which is why it took me so long to get through this book. * This is a small thing but, for me, physical descriptions are important and getting them soon after meeting the characters is helpful to solidify and distinguish them in my mind. I felt like the descriptions of Nova, Bastian and Link were enough but Xavier and Drake were too late in coming. For example, I had a hazy image of Drake since we weren't given much then find out he had braids which made me have to reset. Then about 60% in it is mentioned he has a beard so I had to reset again. It isn't a dealbreaker but I just prefer being able to clearly visualize the characters from the start.
Saw this book in an author page I follow and had to read it. This is a great beginning to a series. The concept is truly unique with the whole interwebs and outerwebs. The characters learn as they go and there are some hilarious moments. If you’re looking for a new RH to try out give this one a try!
One of the most unique books I've read. The authors take the concept of the internet and make it its own world. The 3 interwebbers are working day to day sorting data till something happens and they end up outside in the real world. They have to learn everything and it is quite humorous as they navigate this world. Bastian and Xavier help them navigate, though Xavier is not as trusting in the beginning. Nova, Drake and Link begin to exhibit other changes as they conquer their new environment. Relationships develop and a family is formed. They find a corrupt code and work to fix it but are faced with a lot of questions. There are a lot of emotions and learning. I love the multiple POVs, the steamy scenes and the MM. The next book should be even better as they work together having found their connection. But who is her Code and who was it at the end? Questions I need answered! Great story. Funny. Hot. Intense. Unique.
Good to know: Vortex is told in primarily 5 POVs, but 6 total by the end. It’s a RH, containing a good bit of MM action. I really liked the premise for this one, of digital beings thrust in to the real world via a vortex. There’s a lot of humor in Nova, Link, and Drake learning about the world around them. This story is a really solid setup for the next volumes, and I’m looking forward to where this story is going. Minor detractions: since the main digital characters come from the web, when they first arrive their syntax is very precise, and not at all how normal people would speak. The lack of contractions, which is totally fitting to the story and characters, made my head hurt to read. I was so glad when they acclimated and began to speak like a typo a person would. Some of the characters physical descriptions were given out piecemeal throughout the book, and I prefer when I get descriptions at the beginning. It helps me to better visualize and just enjoy it a little more. I’d definitely recommend this book if you’re a Rh fan, and dig sci fi.
What a brilliantly new take on scifi- I absolutely loved this book. I laughed so hard I cried (amongst other things) I fell in love with every single character-ok except one but we're not meant to like him -the characters were so real and human and the way they describe every day objects had me in stitches.....and omg do not drink anything when they go to the loo!!! You'll be spraying that drink far and wide! I seriously cannot wait for the next book, I am bursting with impatience and I need the next book to come out as soon as Joane Ganci and CA Higgjns can turn their genius to what happens next. A brilliantly written, laugh out loud gigglefest that is steamy and hot as well. What more could I ask for in a book? This book has it all x thank you so much for such an entertaining time reading this x wish I could thank you personally x
Great start to a new series. I absolutely loved this book. It was different from others I have read in a long time. Nova is definitely a funny girl, and her lack of knowledge in the outerweb is hilarious at times. The guys are great, Bastian, Xavier, Link and Drake are all so different but they fit together as a family. There is m/m and at the beginning it is hilarious with Link and Drake. The talk of a poly relationship is there but it isn't fully developed yet as they are all trying to come to terms with what they are feeling. I am looking forward to reading book 2 as the little cliffy at the end left you hanging.
Vortex by Joanne Ganci and CA Higgins is Book 1 in Adventures In the Outerwebs and you’ll be hard pressed recognising that this is their first book together. The writing style is in-depth, very witty and sharp. It’s totally not the genre I usually read but I easily fell into the world they create. Nova, Link, Drake, Bastian and Xavier are super characters and each are quite different and the growth of them individually and as a group is entertaining and endearing. It’s a RH Sci-fi with some wickedly awesome spice. It is a great read and I’ll be very keen to see Book 2.
Adult. Scifi. Rh. 4 guys. MM. I loved this so much. It's so quirky. It made me laugh out loud and in hysteria. The characters are all their own and some have cool abilities. Definitely something I have read before (totally awesome concept). I don't see the end coming at all, I had it figured as something else. I very much enjoyed it. Will be impatiently waiting for the next one. 😝 Good read.
Repeat! Totally interesting story and I definitely geeked out on the geekery. Liked the characters and the dichotomy between inter and outerwebbers. Definite sci-fi fantasy and take some of the story with a grain of salt (it’s sci-fi folks) but it is fun. Can you imagine experiencing Target for the first time? M/M and M/F with the setup for more. Interesting mystery and storyline. Will read the next.
Unique, fun, and addicting. A few great words to describe this book. If you are looking for a completely different type of RH this is for you. I want to know what happens next so very badly! Joanne and CA did an amazing job with this book and I can't wait to read more! I love the relationship all the characters have in their new family. Some are romantically involved and the ones that aren't still have a deep connection. Great job ladies can't wait for more!
Wow this book took me by surprise I’ve never read anything like it in this genre. This story is so different and interesting and I had a hard time ever putting it down. There were parts that I was reading which made me feel a bit hot like I needed to fan myself which never happens. Lol thank you for taking me on this journey I can’t wait for the next book!!
Wow this was amazing!! I liked how she wrote something different and sci-fi but it was just as good!! It sucks you in from the beginning and had me laughing, I loved all the characters obviously except one but you can't love them all lol!! She did a great job and I can't wait to get book 2 I definitely recommend you read this book🔥❤❤
OH MY WOW! This book is so fantastic, I loved every bit of it! This was truly a page turner that I didn’t want to put down until I had read every word! The storyline is cleverly written, original and I laughed-out-loud a lot, the characters are entertaining and charming. This story is fun, incredibly unique, and imaginative, and I'm totally looking forward to the next book!
Nova is amazing! The fact she has to learn and navigate the outer webs when she lands herself there. She takes everything in stride. Her relationships are developing as the story goes. I can’t wait to see what happens next in her little family. Byron is crazy as all get out nothing good is going to come from that situation. Can’t wait to see what comes next.
Unlike anything I have read before. Amazing concept with extremely hilarious scenes. I love Nova’s inquisitive mind, but also the fact she is strong kickass woman. The guys are sinfully drool worthy and I’m unable to pick a favourite. I love the use of technology throughout and how it’s described. I desperately want to know what happens next. Definitely a new favourite!!!
Ok so normally I Bawk at SCI-FI. I mean I am PNR or just PN all the way, give me shifters, vampires and Fae or give me death. BUT DAYYYMN! THIS CHANGED THAT FOR ME. This was a wonderful price of work that took me somewhere else I haven't been wanting to go quite yet. The plot and story line are fresh and characters are all so LOVABLE!
Loved the new take on of a sci fi book. Every character was well written so you love and hate the ones your meant to easily. I cant wait for the next book to find out what happens next. This book is well written and extremely hot and won't leave you hanging in that area lol, what more could a girl ask for. So hurry up and grab your copy Today
This book is Laugh Out Loud funny. I'm not a tech, I have a very limited understanding of how the internet works but this book is amazing. You don't need a Masters or PhD to follow the storyline. If you like Sci-fi, and need a laugh check out this book. I'm hoping for a follow-up story.
