Pandemic, isolation, natural disasters … finding true love?

It started with social distancing and no public events, stores closed, flights canceled, then the big lockdown put us all on house arrest, leading to months of cabin fever, isolated in the heart of Seattle. Until the day everything changed. I longed for isolation to be over—but not over like this.

The virus was bad enough. Now an earthquake such as the modern world has never known rips apart the West Coast, survivors keep only a step ahead of death, and my solo existence of binge-watching and college work spins into chaos.

I wouldn’t have made it out alive without Jackson and Trent, then Ramak leading our group toward one hope of survival. It’s an insane time to be swooning over men I barely know. Or is it the perfect time? Is love all we have left to cling to?

This is a contemporary Reverse Harem romance novella, first in the Love Versus World trilogy.

This is a super quick read/novella about a pandemic and natural disaster. Because, why not?!

I wasn’t going to review it, but I have a question over the authors use of the word “glans”.
Trent’s hot glans broke into me.
His what? Is this a technical term?
Before I could wet his skin, I felt precum across my towel, and got my hand over his glans to rub down his shaft.
I googled it.
Glans = the rounded part forming the end of the penis or clitoris
Huh, ok.

Once the earthquake hits, and subsequent aftermath, this story is non-stop action. The characters have obviously never seen a disaster movie or read an apocalypse book, they make stupid decisions. The RH aspect is so silly and feels incredibly awkward as the characters aren’t given enough time to even know each other. But who am I to judge! It’s the end of the world, enjoy all those glans.

While the heroine is stuck in and endless quarantine after a virus hits, her day goes downhill fast. With no signs of lockdown ending, everyone is ready to get out. No one expects a mega quake to hit the Seattle coast taking down building after building only to be followed by a brutal tsunami that goes inland for miles. If that’s not bad enough by the end we also learn nearby Rainier is about to erupt and no one has time to make decisions. So far this is only a MFM romance and while it’s fast a lot of it is just characters needing to blow up steam and feel alive after the hellish days they’ve had. All are young in their twenties and what I appreciated is no one claimed to have all the answers. Like most of us would feel in a similar situation, there’s a lot of confusion, fear and anger. Simply being alive is a miracle but surviving one disaster after the next will really test them all. The characters knew of each other prior to hooking up post disaster so there is already some familiarity and not so much instalove or instalust. Their lives are moving at warp speed and their very next second could be there last so I’m eager to see what else could go wrong for them. It’s a bit outrageous and unbelievable but it’s pretty exciting and I’m a sucker for any apocalypse read.

I liked the book actually. Is it a book though? It's a novella. I don't see the point of three short novellas that don't add up to 300 pages. Anyways, to the book 2 we go!

Engrossing

This was my first time reading anything by K. R. Alexander but the blurb looked interesting and the few reviews were positive so I decided to give it a try and I am thrilled to say it was really good! The story has quite a bit of action and intensity to it, in fact the virus itself is more of a backdrop and not a major plot line in this first installment. The story jumps pretty quickly into an unexpected, but possible, natural disaster and I have to say the author details that experience so well, you really feel like it's happening. You can completely see yourself there. The survival situation is the main crux of this book and it ebs and flows like a real survival situation would, one minute you have a plan and the next moment the plan falls apart as the unexpected happens. It's intense but written so well you could completely picture it. The romantic aspect of this book, while there are some HOT scenes, something about the personalities and differences of the men makes it a bit hard for me to accept this particular group of men as working in an RH setting. Typically in an RH we see some compatibility between the male characters where each fills a certain role or need both with the fmc and in the group in general and their and even if they don't start out liking each other or accepting multiple lovers for their female, you can see how they have the right characteristics and personalities to become a really strong group down the road. I'm just not really understanding this particular group of men. I mean the author is telling us that they are getting along and you see them starting accept the RH concept but my mind is having a hard time accepting these three men as ever making sense as a group. That being said, the overall story is so interesting and we'll written that it doesn't matter if the romance makes total sense. It's definitely worth a read.

I read this in KU shortly before the Pandemic really hit, so it was a bit eerie and unfortunate that the author had their debut during this time- I think between that and the unfortunate covers, it didnt really show up on peoples feeds for RH. - However I read a lot of distopia, and I read RH, a smaller crossover I think, so Amazon decided it would show me this. I'm so grateful it did!

I've since spread word around because I love this and first read it through KU then bought them at ebooks, I'm hoping to buy them as paperback next, and hardback if that ever becomes available. They are comfort reads for me, action paced with real life awkwardness of people thrown together in turmoil and how they make it work. I like that type of realism in RH and not just the cookie cutter "Well they(MMCS) have been life long friends / pack mates / etc."

This is one of those that is definitely why choose, rather than a bait and switch I've seen recently, where the FMC goes around and has time with all the men but isnt with all the men at once. Nope this gives VERY happy ending by the ending of book 3, it's also just a good fun read. I loved it!

A pandemic and slew of natural disasters creates a perfect storm of a deadly catastrophe that X finds herself in the middle of. Along with three other men, they struggle through a tsunami, major earthquakes and the fallout from a volcano - all contributing to deadly obstacles as the foursome try to travel to safety. Along this perilous journey, these people struggle with their new normal and the dynamic they find themselves in, regarding their intertwining relationships.
Epilogue is set three years in the future. The story is told from the h’s POV. The three individual stories are fairly short. I read this off if Kindle Unlimited.

Tense, gripping & a bit of reality too!

It’s weird to be living part of this story...social distancing is the reality not just the fiction. So, this book shows, it could always be worse. I liked this book & heading over to get book 2. It’s a great distraction our current reality. Nicely written & NO TYPOS! Thank you!

Pandemic RH? yes Please

New to this author and currently living in the PNW with a mild-moderate fascination with natural disasters and what happens when The Big One hits. The fact that this book exists AND it's RH AND it's got some great references of what actual open relationships look like? Definitely worth the read. Looking forward to more!

Intense

I'm glad this is only book 1, because I'm still adjusting from the quake, and then the flood, and being swept away by a tsunami. That's a lot, packed into a little. Torrid pace that doesn't seem to be losing its energy. Can't wait for more.

Super interesting

A good story line. Engaging writing. Very little spice but that is kind of expected if you are writing a true disaster book as well as the story of the people trying to survive. I really enjoyed it.

For a disaster book, this started of boring. you don’t get much information about the character. The book jumps straight into the disaster yet it managed to make me feel annoyed at the MFL in 2 seconds flat.

strong start

Good strong start and really sets the tone for the rest of the books. The characters are still developing, and having their own sorts of relationships with each other. I love me a good disaster book and this hit the spot. I can’t wait to read more.

Es un libro para pasar por el rato, a los pobres no les termina una cuando ya llegó otra. En cuanto al harem creo que no está tan marcado, pero es bueno
