Genevieve is checking out the city she will now be working in. While at a bar she throws a drink in a guy’s face, he ends up following her to the ladies’ room and he decides to punish her with a spanking for being disrespectful. Genevieve is the new fire inspector and she is shocked to find out she will be working with Blaise, the guy who punished her. Sparks fly between them but when Genevieve is in danger because of the investigation will Blaise keep her safe? Fast-paced steamy and intense read with great chemistry and a story and really draws you in, I was hooked from beginning to end. I loved it.

One of the better romances!
I’ve been becoming quite jaded with romance on KU lately...a lot of flunkers and very few diamonds. This one is one of the better ones! I throughly enjoyed this story, the plot was not too farfetched although I don’t know if this would actually hold up in real life. There were some questionable scenes but the point was, the story took me on a thrilling adventure with some steammyyyyy scenes. Will be reading more books by this author.

sexy & suspenseful.
Dom/Sub erotica. Not for the faint of heart in the sex department. I really liked it! Blaise and Genevieve had an instant connection in the bar (that’s pretty taboo) and they fell in love really fast. Both broken from past guilt.

Why can I not stop reading these?!?
Three things; beginning was hot as fuck (was on pins and needles waiting for these two to 'officially' meet), Blaise deserved someone so much better (that felt like cheating) and I really think the term daddy dom was misused when what was meant was sadist. Nothing about the quick peek or explanation sounded even remotely close to being a daddy dom....like at all!

Was enjoying it for the most part but that bad feeling in the back of my mind wouldn’t let up...and then...oooop there it is. I don’t understand continuing or having a non-sexual/sexual control situation with someone in authority over you???

This is my first read from this author, but the blurb was too interesting to pass up. It promised both a attention grabbing suspense as well as a down and dirty D/s tale......it delivered on ALL fronts. While there were a few "issues" with the ARC I received, I can't praise it enough for being able to combine two seemingly different "plots" into one well put together story.
"I wanted to wear his stripes, a confirmation of our building relationship."
Told in dual POV, this standalone is just as mysterious as it is absolutely delicious. It does have a HEA with no cliffys. Because it contains elements of the BDSM lifestyle, it may be a trigger for some. This is in no way "dark", never crossing over that line.

Overall, I found this to be a fantastic read. A true page turner, it had the perfect mix of heart stopping suspense and lip biting erotica. You will question everything and everyone until the very end. There were some issues with typos throughout as well as some overused words and terms (I don't think I've ever seen QUIVER used more in any other book), but its hard to deny what a phenomenal job Piper did in writing this story. Its paced well and the plot flows smoothly without any extra-ness to fill up pages.
“You play like you want a dominating figure in your life then you turn the tables. I’m not wired like that. I didn’t realize this was just a game to you or I certainly would’ve played it differently.”
If I were you I would add this to your TBR shelf ASAP. Its one of those that no matter your fav sub-genre in romance is, there is no doubt you can read this and be thoroughly sated by the time you turn the last page.

I really enjoyed reading this story because it has a very good story line that isn't a bunch of fluff. There is some D/S that may be considered slightly dark, but not bad. You get to see it from both points of views which I think is great.
Genevieve has moved from Atlanta, GA to Charlotte, NC and is not the Arson Investigator for the city. This isn't taken too well because she has no experience as a firefighter, just an investigator. The new slick mayor hired her to not only investigate any suspicious fires, but also to go over all the fire stations to evaluate both the personnel and equipment to give any suggestions to help make them better, do they need more help, less help, new equipment, more equipment. It seems that there have been several suspicious fires that haven't been investigated and she means to get to the bottom of every one of them. It also seems like all the fire stations thinks that she is there to make them look bad or to close them down. She goes to a local bar after she has moved to town but hasn't started work yet. She hooks up with a Hottie and they both need what the other has to offer. They didn't exchange names or numbers but when she shows up at his fire station, there are sparks.
Blaise is one of the best fire fighters the city has, but he does not follow any rules. He doesn't care if it is unsafe to go into a fire if there is one single person trapped in there. It seems like every week he is toted as a Hero, but it doesn't help it when he keeps getting reprimanded. He is a hit it and quit it guy. No ties. When he has a scorcher of a night with a total stranger, where he likes a little domination with discipline, that is just what she wants and needs. But when he finds out that she may be trying to sabotage the stations, he can't have it.
The only part that was a bit of a downer is when he finds out that she is still seeing her old Dom from Atlanta and hasn't shared that with him. Is it cheating without penetration but she is naked on a St. Andrews Cross getting whipped by him?

WoW AN AMAZING STORYLINE AND FABULOUS CHARACTERS = A OUTSTANDING READ SO HOT!!!!!!
Blaise Tompkins just wants to have a drink, sat at the bar when the lady in the chair beside him is rude for no reason other than she is probably having a bad day. He feels the sexual tension coming off her and he knows what she want/needs so he follows her in to the bathroom and gives her the spanking she needs. No names are told, the sexual release is enough for each of them, or is it?? Then the next night they are set up by a friend and once again end up getting what each want. They pretend to be Fred and Jane a one night thing. Genevieve is a true submissive who needs a strong man to take her in to hand. There isn't anything she doesn't like to do in the BDSM world and Blaise is a true Dom who loves to give what a sub needs.
Fire Investigator, Genevieve knows she is not going to be welcomed by the fire fighters but she has a job to be done. But what she wasn't expecting was to see Blaise at one of the fire stations. So her best friend has her on a blind date with Blaise and they’re back to some intense play. Wonderful suspense romance!!!
This is a great story with wonderful down to earth characters. Genevieve is in Charlotte to start a new job as fire investigator and she ends up having a run in with Blaise at a local bar. They have an intense sexual encounter and then part ways. They end up being brought back together by a mutual friend, but still don't exchange names. Then they find themselves thrown together through their jobs, because Blaise is a firefighter and of course Genevieve is now the city's new fire investigator. There have been a lot of arsons recently and the fire department is under scrutiny and possible budget cuts. This is a wonderfully suspenseful, steamy read and I highly recommend it!

Hot and steamy

Blaise is a heroic fire fighter, somewhat domineering, loved by most, except the Mayor. Inspector Genevieve Gregory and Lt. Blaise Tompkins meet in a seedy bar, had a wild night, and never thought they would see each other again. Even though they had a connection, they were explosive together. They do meet again.
They fight together towards resolving the arson fires, but through a series of misunderstandings, they take a break from each other.
I would definitely recommend as this book has insta love, hot and steamy loving, angsty relationship issues and a who done it sub plot. Great read.

Wow, the first scene in the bathroom............just wow! This was such a hot story. Blaise and Genevieve make you think of steamy nights but there is something going on in town. Fires are being set and lives are being destroyed. Blaise is a fireman and Genevieve is the one investigating the fires. They're hot for each other but she is holding secrets that might destroy their relationship. When he finds out, it's over but is it really. She's in danger and Blaise is the only one who can save her from someone who wants her dead. Drama, intrigue, and did I mention a LOT of hot times together? I love this story and all the emotions it created!

I always expect an arousing read from Piper Stone, and "Torched" is no different. There's plenty of heat (skipping a pun there, you're welcome) early on, but this story relies more an the relationship and on-going plot development than some of her previous works. Blaise and Genevieve care about each other fairly early on with no love-hate angle going for the most part. There's is plenty of intrigue though, and their difficulties are with their own demons and the whomever/why-ever serial arsonist than each other.
Plenty of romance here, and spanking, and general butt stuff. Thus making it another highly recommended read from me.

I would give this 3.5 stars. It was ok, but there was something off with this book. I don't know if I overlooked important pieces of the mystery, or what. I kept trying to pull the pieces of the investigation together and it just wasn't gelling for me.
Blaise and Genevieve's relationship was steamy and intense, but the romance was not the primary focus of the book. I would have to give it more thought, but the beginning of the book and the way Genevieve was feeling did not connect with the end of the book to me.
I would recommend you read this book and judge for yourself. It was not a bad read, but there were parts that did not hold my interest.

I loved this book and its perfect blend of scorching heat and suspense. Plenty of sparks fly both in and ouside of the bedroom, as Blaise and Genevieve's romance unfolds. This book has a strong and very entertaining storyline that will quickly capture and hold your interest. I thought that Genevieve and Blaise were a made for each other couple and not simply because he was a dominate and she was a natural submissive. I felt thay shared a powerful connection that was both physical and emotional. Drama, danger, intrigue, mystery and secrets are woven into the book and they all help to create one very enjoyable read. Of my own accord I am posting a truthful review.

This was a great BDSM, suspenseful read by Piper Stone. Local firefighter Blaise stopped by the local bar for a drink when he meets Genevieve. Her rude attitude earns her a spanking when he follows her to the bathroom. Despite having her fantasies come to life with the sexy stranger, Genevieve leaves knowing she will never see him again. Unknown to Blaise, Genevieve is the new fire inspector. Blaise knows she is his perfect submissive and he is the perfect Dom for her. When they realize Genevieve will be investigating the string of arsons, they agree to back off. But when her investigation threatens Genevieve, Blaise will stop at nothing to protect her. Definitely recommend.

Piper Stone has the golden touch when it comes to writing books. She is a master in the craft and will keep you entranced from page one to the final page. Torched has a lot of brilliant qualities that will keep you coming back for more. There is Sex, kinky sex, murder, mystery and more sex all rolled up into one book. The mystery of a whodunnit is brilliant and will keep you reading to find out more. Genevieve and Blaise will keep you entertained and hot under the collar. I adore her as a writer and there is just a handful of writers that can keep me entertained. You won’t be disappointed but be prepared this is a smoking hot book well deserving of a firefighter romance.
