Historians Cameron Thorne and Amanda Spencer-Gunn uncover a stolen painting which the Nazis believed was a secret map to the Holy Grail and the lost treasure of the Knights Templar. Hitler planned to weaponize the Holy Grail and monetize the treasure as part of his campaign of world dominance. Cam and Amanda just want to find the legendary artifacts. The Nazis failed because they were unable to decipher the secret Templar clues left in the painting. Cam and Amanda may fail—perhaps fatally—because a group of modern-day Nazis remain obsessed with finishing Hitler’s work.
A thriller based on actual artwork, artifacts and events. Illustrated. Not recommended for readers with strong religious beliefs.
This stand-alone novel merges together two series. It is Book #9 in the TEMPLARS IN AMERICA series and also Book #4 in the BOSTON LAW series.
David S. Brody is a Boston Globe bestselling fiction writer named Boston's "Best Local Author" by the Boston Phoenix newspaper. A graduate of Tufts University and Georgetown Law School, he is a former Director of the New England Antiquities Research Association (NEARA) and is an avid researcher in the subject of pre-Columbian exploration of America. He has appeared as a guest expert on documentaries airing on History Channel, Travel Channel, PBS and Discovery Channel.
Why was this a novel? If you want to speculate on ancient artifacts and symbols, just write a long essay and spare the reader of having to listen to the melodramatic inner voices of fictional characters: "The voice of his old law school professor echoed inside his head: When building your case theory, you need to use every piece of evidence. If there is a piece of evidence that doesn’t fit, chances are you have the wrong theory. Along those lines, how did the Dom Tower in Utrecht fit in? Amanda had done some excellent research, identifying the tower as a key part of this puzzle. Were her findings mere coincidences? He bit his lip. No. He didn’t believe in coincidences. And neither, apparently, did Bruce, who was also uncomfortable with the Utrecht loose end." Really? What happened to showing rather than telling? Dan Brown or Daniel Silva this is not. So, three stars for a complex plot, zero for the writing.
Wow! There were so many twists and turns that I couldn't even keep track of who all the characters were! It kept me guessing until the end...and a pretty good ending it was!
Treasure Templari: Templars, Nazis and the Holy Grail (Templars in America #9)
This is a stand-alone book. You don't need to read any of the prior books in the series to enjoy it.
Cameron Thorne and Amanda Spencer-Gunn are approached about a stolen painting: The Just Judges - which was on the left panel of the Ghent Altarpiece, painted by Jan van Eyck or his brother Hubert Van Eyck between 1430 and 1432. It was stolen in 1934 and has never been found.
A rich neo-nazi believes it contains a code to a secret map to a source of energy that could be used to create electricity from seawater - something that the Egyptians might have had knowledge of. Hitler planned to weaponize it and monetize the treasure as part of his campaign of world dominance. Cam and Amanda just want to find the legendary artifacts. The Nazis failed because they were unable to decipher the secret Templar clues left in the painting. Cam and Amanda may fail—perhaps fatally—because there are three parties all trying to get the secrets of the painting: the neo-nazis, the Mossad, and Saudi's.
Narrated from the third person point of view, this is a thriller based on actual artwork, artifacts, and events. The characters are three-dimensional. The plot is full of twists and turns that will grab you until the very end. Not recommended for readers with strong religious beliefs.
The Templars, the Nazis, the Church, the Police, the Mossad and goodness knows who else are all after a Treasure hidden in the USA several hundred years before the USA existed.
And one of the bad guys deliberately jumps off the Tappan Zee bridge and… undamaged… swims to where he stashed his SCUBA gear and escapes the clutches of…
This is another very well-researched book in the series which was an engrossing read. There are lots of plot twists that keep you guessing right up to the very end although, sometimes, because of these twists it was easy to lose what had happened where. There were a few loose ends but it could be that they might be picked up in later stories. The book certainly ended as though there was more to come without leaving a feeling of the story being incomplete. As with other books in the series, this one can be read as a standalone story as intended by the author.
There is so much going on its hard to keep up first theres the painting and as usual Cameron Amanda and Astarte play a big part in deciphering it then there is the Mossad the white supremacist and the Saudis. It's a good story to fathom and the author is pulling you along until the moment it's a wow. Recommend
Brody is a master writer of historical fiction, with so much fact intermingled with fiction that it is impossible to separate the two! He tells amazing stories in such a way that the reader is fully engaged and can easily buy into the mysteries he provides solutions for. You will not be disappointed with any of his books!
The theft of a major piece of art that might point the way to ancient Templar Treasures. The puzzle has been set…the secrets rebound and everyone has a secret. A well crafted adventure novel that can also qualify as a first rate murder mystery. A very exciting read!
Enough out standing work of exciting fiction by a great wordsmith. Treasure is not always God or any valuable material item, this book has a excellent description of another form of treasure....
I’ve read several books in this series and until I got around half way through I didn’t think this one was anything special. Once the groundwork of setting the scene was done this novel became my favorite of the series.
Brody rocks, I must first say that I am a die hard fan of his work. I love the research that is put into each story. I love the fact that we do not need to kill 20 people in each chapter to keep me turning pages. Well done, loved it.
I really enjoyed this next adventure of Cam and Amanda. The plot was well thought out. All the people involved played their parts perfectly. Thank you for another great book.
Brody devolved strong characters and gave them strong motivations. Treasure Templari is not only a masterpiece of intrigue but also bring to light long-forgotten Templer beliefs. Great Read.
Another good treasure hunt from Cameron Thorne, his wife Amanda and their daughter Astarte. As usual, the mix of real and fiction is great fun. I enjoyed this book very much!
David Brody really kept me interested with all the twists and turns. The history, the various theories kept me engaged the whole time. Great story telling. Would highly recommend if you are intrigued by the Templar legend or a fan on Dan Brown.
I like these books. They show photos of real artifacts that match with the story. They make you wonder it it really could be true. I’ve read about the Templars but this adds to it. His descriptions are great b
A story with lot of intrigue and a complex scam. An interesting plot but hard to follow at times. A good book but probably not Mr. Brody’s best. I love his stories and will definitely read more of his books.
I have enjoyed the Templars in America series. This book was a little slow to get through. A lot of different characters but not a lot of suspense. A little tough to keep the characters straight if you took some time off from reading it.
Another good read from Brody. Lot's of good twists and turns. Characters are real and interesting with there little twists. Wish I could figure fact for fiction.
Thoroughly enjoyed the twists and turns of a diabolical plot with solid characters and some history thrown in. 'Fama' because everything sounds better in Latin.
