DI Tracy Collier #2

All That Deceit

Rate this book
THE PAST IS STILL OUT THERE SOMEWHERE. IT. MUSTN’T. COME. BACK.

Detective Inspector Tracy Collier has at last swept her past under the carpet, but someone else’s is about to come billowing out in a cloud of death. A dead body found beside a stream brings more questions than answers, and the clock is ticking, putting Tracy on edge.

Further grating on her nerves is an old friend, DI Kane Barnett, a man she once knew intimately but now sees as a pain in her backside. Tracy has been brought in to head a serious crimes squad, ousting Kane from his previous position as lead detective. Kane doesn’t like being demoted—who would?—and his lack of support has the potential to derail the case.

Tracy vows to concentrate on the killer rather than Kane, and she goes through the motions trying to catch the murderer, but there’s something about Kane’s behaviour that’s niggling her. Something to do with his previous case where a good girl had gone bad.

What is Kane up to? And will Tracy find out, along with capturing a killer—a killer who has a mind to strike again and again, bringing secrets out into the open that have long been hidden behind closed doors? And, with the appearance of a person from The Past, Tracy has to face her reasons for what she does next, proving she will forever carry all that deceit.

Love, love, love Tracy Collier. I always liken this series to No Offence, it’s raw and full of angst. :-)

Tracy and her partner are tasked with forming a new squad, stepping on al old flames toes. He struggles to deal with her being in charge and goes AWOL during an important case.

The killer in this one could be any one of a number of suspects, I really didn’t have a clue until the end. We get to see things from the killers POV throughout and what a twisted individual they are.

As the pieces slot together I might have gasped a few times whilst reading.

There’s yet an unexpected twist that becomes a personal one to Tracy near the end.

A fabulous read which I highly recommend.

I loved this second book in the series by Emmy Ellis. I couldn’t put the book down, I have just sat and managed to read it all in one day.
DI Tracey Collier is hard faced but having read the first in the series, you do come to realise why she is this way. The new team under DI Collier get on well and those who aren’t part of the team are soon got rid of! Great storytelling by this author, who managed to keep me hooked from start to finish. I would highly recommend this book

Wow, so I first became introduced to this author and her 1st book of the series following a recommendation on the FB UK crime book club. When I asked for further suggestions the author herself advised me to keep reading, What more can I say but wow what a rollercoaster it has been. I thoroughly enjoyed catching up with Tracy and her partner Damon, and i cannot wait to read the next one. Thanks so much for a fab recommendation and introduction to your series Emmy.

The UK crime book club on FB is amazing and my love for reading is made so much more by the fact you can actually acknowledge the super reads to the authors themselves.

Wow. I honestly didn't expect Book 2 in the DI Tracy Collier series to better the first, but it did.

In this installment, Tracy has moved to a new police station in an attempt to leave behind the horrors of her past, but she doesn't get much chance to settle in when, on day one, a terrible murder is reported. As if that wasn't bad enough, Tracy has to deal with a disgruntled DI who seems determined to undermine her at every opportunity. But Tracy deals with him the same way she deals with everything else... bluntly LOL.

I adore Tracy Collier. She's so flawed, so broken by her past, but dang, the woman is a great copper.

Once again, there are chapters from the killer's point of view. I love how the author pens those in first person. It gives the reader such a deep connection with the perpetrator, allowing them to see what's happening as its happening. This style makes for a great read.

The killer could have been one of several people, and I loved how I was kept guessing until very near the end.

A fast-paced page turner that I couldn't put down.

Can I have Book 3 now please?

D. I. Tracey Collier, of the serious Crimes Squad, is called out to a dead body.

Once they had identified the victim, the team start door to door enquires. They asked a few neighbours if they saw anything suspicious. Nobody had.

Another dead body. The D.I. and her partner, DS Damon Hanks, are wondering why they moved house now. It was supposed to be a new start for them.

Lots of neighbours in this story, had lived next door to each other for years. They knew each other well.

Then somebody from the past, turns up. Not good!

I love this type of story, when it’s keeps you guessing until the end.

A gripping, murder/cop story, by Emmy Ellis.

Fantastic Book, a very good read

This book is brilliant, you certainly won't be disappointed. Once I started reading I could not put it down. It is well worth reading. Brilliant ending, one I never guessed which usually I am great at predicting what is going to happen. I didn't have a clue when reading this one.

Wow, speechless!

This author, Emmy Ellis, just went to my top 10 list! This book threw me for a loop at every. turn. Then you have a person who they basically ran from, and they walk head on, right to her. The plot and subplot are outstanding and very original. I am so glad I ran into this authors work through goodreads. If not, I would have never found her work!!

Wow why haven't I read this series way before now. I love Tracy and glad to know I'm not on my own when taking and answering myself.
It is a series you can't read as standalone books as they refer to last book and has spolier's in it though why anyone would want to read out of order.

So good

So glad I found this author after she'd published many books, means I can read one and jump straight to the next one in line. Annoyed with myself for reading so quick but can not help keep turning the page well into early hours of the morning. Roll on the next...

Good read

This book was very entertaining. I would recommend it to the next reader. It had action and suspense. The reader didn't automatically guess who was killing people. Excellent plot twist.

This book is a continuation of Tracy story.

We see her take over a new police station with her past catching up.

We see deep seated revenge, betrayal and murder. As with all her books, there is a twist and the it is the twist is who the murderer is
