We Want Names, Too!: A Concept Board Book for Kids

Rate this book
The individual fingers have names like thumb and index, but the poor toes don't! It's time to brainstorm what the toes should be called.  This board book is an excellent choice to share during homeschooling, in particular for children in preK. It’s a fun way to introduce classic concepts like colors and the alphabet.
As the toes argue and advocate for their preferred name among themselves, kids will learn about concepts like letters, numbers, music notes, colors, and fruits, and celebrate individuality at the same time. This hilarious, chatty book is perfect for younger fans of  The Day the Crayons Quit.  Maybe your little one will decide what names to give to their own toes!  The big toe wants to be called A, but not everyone agrees with the alphabet theme. The second toe argues they should go for numbers, while the last toe prefers fruits!  How on earth will they resolve their disagreement?

Fingers have individual names; why don’t toes? This starts a discussion about what to name themselves. The suggestions range from colors, to letters of the alphabet to fruits to musical notes. Then there are the objections and criticisms. The illustrations are bright and fun. Overall the ending seemed flat and rather a letdown though very young children may not notice or care.

the toes on the feet feel left out because each of the fingers has a name and they want one too? How should they pick a name for who they are? This board book goes through the many choices the toes have and at the end they choose the best name for themselves.

I loved this book. I think that little kids will have a great time looking at the pictures and figuring out what the best name for their toes should be.

Adding this book to my family story time rotation! I took off one star because I felt like the little piggy rhyme should have been incorporated to add a dash of silliness to the storyline. I’m not sure this story will elicit many giggles but the repetitive text will help engage listenersI do love that the toes ideas are validated at the end.

So cute and creative! Why DON'T we name our toes like we do our fingers? And if we do, how should we pick out names? So many children are going to enjoy coming up with their own names after reading this one!

I scanned the barcode of the book and found out that it is not "Couleur Femme".
The book shoul be "Poèmes de Bali traduits de l'indonésien" by Forum Jakarta-Paris, Alliance française de Denpasar. However, it is still related to French.
