Stranded.

The crew of the USCS Tempest has faced many hardships, but none so dire as crashing on a planet with no way to contact their ship. Now with no power, no resources and no idea how to get back, they’ll have to find a way to survive on this strange, untamed world.

But not all is as it seems. This planet hides some dark secrets, such as why does the sun never seem to set? Or why, despite a lush environment, are there no other species here? Caspian, Evie and the rest of the crew have their work cut out for them if they want to discover the truth behind these mysteries. This planet was supposed to be a haven while they repaired the Tempest, but it’s quickly becoming a death trap.

And the only way off may be for Cas and Evie to face what they fear the most: failure.

“Prepare for the worst, hope for the best.”
I’m so thrilled with this series, Eric Warren continuously brings up intriguing scenarios, hard to digest moments, and moral and ethical issues, too hard to assimilate in havoc wrecking situations. High concept, thought-inducing sci-fi, the storyline excels in creating memorable characters in settings that sometimes challenge belief but seem so normal when reading. Dynamic suspense, three-dimensional characters, with a sharp dialogue.
Original aliens, plausible high-tech, fast-paced adventure written with a dash of wry humor. And..Oh my! What an
astounding discovery! I couldn’t believe it, so shocking it was! In fact, there are many mysteries and secrets revealed in this premise, that kept me on my toes, with edge of the seat scenes. The suspense holds to the end. I already want to read Broken Seeds #6, and of course, I don’t want the series to end! Lol.
I received a complimentary copy from the publisher and my review is entirely voluntary.

Received as an ARC, this is an honest review. Time is running out for the crew of the Tempest, with the ship damaged nearly irrevocably by the assaults of the Andromeda and Bulag; if a solution isn't found soon, the Tempest could become a floating tomb. With no other choice, Evie orders the crew to head down to an eerie green hued planet she's seen in visions that could house the murderous Andromeda aliens hell bent on killing them and the Coalition itself. There isn’t another option, they need a temporary home for repairs to get back home. When the first wave vanishes without a trace, the second wave will soon realize just how alien this world truly is. Finding themselves cast in perpetual twilight is one thing but discovering a bear-like animal species slaughtering the crew descends everything into an unfolding nightmare. It's a race to escape before they all wind up dead, but finding out how to get off the planet proves more difficult than imagined; and for Evie a haunting new twist to the mission could put herself and her crew into a deadly fate when she comes face to face with the Andromeda aliens. The secrets they possess could shed light on her past but are the consequences to acquire that knowledge worth the sacrifice? If you thought the previous novel- Secrets Past- was an emotional roller coaster; PlanetFall takes it to a whole new level. You won't be able to put it down without finishing it first. Highly recommended.

How I love this series, and this author. As with most Eric Warren books, you should expect the unexpected. And, boy, do you get it here GALAXY-SIZED.

You'll run the gamut of emotions when reading 'Planetfall' - anger, pain, confusion, grief, and shock. Especially the latter. I actually said out loud, "What the...?"

This author can write, and write well, and the storyline will knock you for six. Their ship,'The Tempest', is knackered and is running out of air. I mean, that's enough of a story for some authors, but, no, Warren adds a hidden planet, taking turns landing there, and... You'll have to find everything else out for yourselves, potential readers. Trust me, this series is worth it and book number six just slides on in like the last part of a jigsaw. But the ending, oh, jeezy peeps! The pace is fast and furious, just like the action. Fantastic stuff. These people have become my friends, and I care about what happens to them. Bring on the next book, please, I can't wait.

I chose this book from a larger collection, which I then voluntarily read and honestly reviewed. All opinions are my own.

I've taken to rating these as 3 stars because they're the equivalent of a pulp novel - just in Space Opera form. The story is entertaining & the books are a fast read. The only complaint I have is that when the characters get inside their minds, having an inner dialog as they struggle with something, he spends a bit too-long there. Some of these characters get too wimpy when they do, and he doesn't need to do that. Yeah, they need have vulnerability in order to contrast when they come through brave; but he spends too-long on their inner-weaknesses, and it slows the story down.

I'm blowing through all of them, though I hope #7 is the end. I'm kind of "ready" for this series to be over. I'll read #7 - which is all there is as-of now - but may not wait for a #8 if there is one.

That f-ing robot continues to annoy me, but there's lots going on here to move the plot forward in this series. I think the author said this is the 2/3 point, and that sounds about right for the story arc to this point. If you've made it this far you'll want to read this one.

The next in the series of Infinity's End following the continuing adventures of Cas, Box and Evie and the rest of the remaining crew. The Tempest needs repairing and life support and power are low, so the majority of the crew head to the nearest habitable planet - but they are not alone! There's also time dilation problems, hungry beasties, communication issues and maybe Evie will find out a bit more about her past.

An enjoyable action romp, giving the crew a new setting, and as always don't expect the supporting characters to make it through the book unscathed, but there are some shocks in this one.

Mr Warren continues to deliver.

This book will knock you on your butt as you try to get your head around everything that happens! With the need to repair the ship and the inability to sustain all life til the ship is repaired, the decision is made to head to the unknown planet, leaving a skeleton crew on board.
What follows as the crew make their way to their temporary home, will have you yelling a few "No way!" and even "What the ^&%?!" and possibly "Did not see THAT!". This series is so addictive, and once you start this journey there is no getting off til the Captain says so!

Stories are getting weird

I enjoyed the series so far. This one was also good, but it is getting too complex and just plain weird. Hope the next book gets back to the style on the first books.

Evie, Cal, Laura, Box

Evie and her crew are attempting to repair the Tempest. The shuttles are sent to a planet while the ship remains in orbit. The crew on the planet run into time warp problems.

Characterization and plotting are excellent.

The start of Planetfall sees the crew of the Tempest trying to find a planet for which they can land the majority of the crew at, since the Tempest will run out of life support in a matter of days thanks to the damage that Diamant did when he came onboard with the other Bulaq, and sabotaged the ship in the previous book.
Having found a Planet, the crew attempt to determine if it will support human life, so that they can put the crew down, and then empty the majority of the ship, whilst they carry out repairs.
However, no matter what they do, they cannot get through the stratosphere of the planet, to tell what lays beneath, and what is on the surface of the planet. Multiple attempts by the main ship, shuttles, fighters, all fail.
Evie has a very ominous feeling about the planet, as it is the one from her dream, in which the planet has been overrun by the Andromeda aliens, and as soon as she sets foot on the planet, she is swarmed by the aliens.
Things are desperate though for the ship, Evie has no choice but to set down, because the ship is in such a bad way, if they don’t, they will lose even more people than they have lost now.
I don’t want to give too much away, no spoilers, but the Planet is a strange place, and has some fascinating things in store for those aboard the Tempest.
As I have said in previous books, this is very similar to shows like Star Trek, or The Orville, in that it has the same type of structure with the Ship’s Organisation, and the Coalition being very similar to the Federation. The storylines in each of the books are comparable to the storylines in the show’s episodes. One of the great thing though about Warren’s books, is that in Star Trek, it is only the Red Shirts that have any chance of dying, whereas in Infinity’s End, anyone is fair game, and this makes the series so much more exciting and thrilling.
Warren’s world (or Galaxy) building is just exceptional, with so much intricate detail, not just of the ship that the characters travel on, but the detail he has put into the aliens they encounter, and are part of the Coalition. Warren is one of few that have actually seriously thought about different species, and how they might evolve, as well as exist in space, and in a multi-species environment. The Multi-Dimensional ‘Sil’ as a species are just outstanding.
This quality of detail extends to the technological as well, with a comprehensive spread of compelling equipment, from Cas’s ‘Boom Cannon’ (Seriously, my favourite weapon in the entire series), to Xal’s exoskeleton. Warren’s descriptive work on the technology and science is both interesting and informative, without getting too lost in jargon so that you start skim-reading or flipping pages.
However, the fast paced action, as well as the intrigue and mystery that run through this book, mean that you won’t be able to put it down, and you will be flipping pages for another reason, as you just can’t read it fast enough to find out what happens to the various characters.
The Character work in this particular volume of the series is Masterful, Warren has shown just how extraordinary he is at writing powerful, gritty and realistic Character driven stories. Each of his characters are very real, genuine people, it gives the story a lot of credibility.
The growth and development of Evie has been amazing in this book, again, I don’t want to give away spoilers, but Evie has been changing and growing from the start, with significant change in Secrets Past. In this book, all of the questions that have been gathering about Evie’s character are finally answered, and we learn some astonishing stuff about her.
Her Character is just so brilliant in this story, so much fun, with a lot of really clever detail, and her dialogue (especially with Cas), is not only sensational, it is hilarious at times.
The other character that has really developed this book is Box. Box is another character that has been slowly growing over the last several books, with his move to the medical section and training under Xax. But he really steps up in this book, and there are some moments when he really shows that his emotional side is developing,
Cas has also grown, maybe not as much as the other two (it is Cas after all), but it is interesting seeing how he has changed in the face of all of the challenges that the crew has had to deal with, especially the loss of the Captain (Greene), in Book 4. His loyalty to Evie has meant that he has had to really look at who he is and make some interesting choices, and he is faced with more of those same challenges in this book.
Planetfall really sees a shift in the story as a lot of the questions we have about what is happening are answered, but it seems for each answer we get, we also get a couple of questions, but this is not necessarily a bad thing as it just adds to the intrigue of the story overall. This book really ramps up the story, and is going to lead into a brilliant part 7.
If you love Mil Sci-Fi – there is no way that you should miss this series, and if you have any interest in Trek or the Orville, this is a must.

It only gets better!

This series gets better with each book.
Planetfall builds beautifully on previous books but outpaces them in action.
What’s next? Can’t wait!

Really enjoyed this installment. Got a bit dark and more introspective, but really had me turning pages. Great series so far!

This book is by far the worst of the series so far.

Warren ran out of techniques to move the story forward, so he gives people the idiot ball. Eve is captured and Lauren runs off into alien ruins knowing that giant bears and other creatures are dismembering people alive and stacking them in pyres. Her Laurens moronic sprint forces the story forward.

Warren spends the first half of the book describing how out of shape Cas is. Then, when the bartender turns out to have information to solve all the problems and they have a 6km trek through jungle, the bartender says "We don't have time to discuss. It will take us a long time to get to our destination." Literally, that is when you discuss. Warren lazily creates a character with useful information and then prevents him from sharing because, I assume, Warren is unaware that people have the capacity to walk and talk simultaneously.

Robot was so annoying

I like the story, a lot of twist and turns. The only thing I didn't like was the robot. Previous books he was irritating, the last books there was a smidge of person growth for a sentient being. He was still more than slightly annoying. This book he was so irritating I stop reading those paragraphs that involved him. Author if you read this, there should be personal growth for this type of character. Bad guys, evil guys no growth at all is fine. They are the bad guys. But Box was childish, immature, annoying, unhelpful, if I was hoping he got so damaged the other characters had to leave him behind. He detracted from the story, plain and simple. I won't be reading the rest of the books in the series!

This is sci-fi written the way it should be. There are fine characters with flaws that you get invested in. There are incredibly powerful aliens. Great plot twists, a fantastic universe, good pacing, and a story arc that's well thought out and very enjoyable. Recommended for sci-fi fans.

Wow, just wow

This one had its ups and downs for sure but it definitely delivered on the consistency. The story didn't drag as much as it did in the previous book (Secrets past). Planetfall was definitely a ride worth taking. And the ending took me by surprise for sure. On to the next one!
