The Sober Curious Reset: Change the Way You Drink in 100 Days or Less

Rate this book
In this upbeat "reset" guide from the author of Sober Curious , a leading voice in the new sobriety movement walks through 100 days of discovering the joys of an alcohol-free lifestyle.

Ruby Warrington's 2019 book Sober Curious was an illuminating conversation starter that asked you to consider, " Would life be better without alcohol? " thus sparking a global wellness trend of "curiosity" on how to gain one's genuine confidence and happiness without the crutch of alcohol.

In The Sober Curious Reset, Ruby goes a step further by inviting you into a 100-day process of radically rethinking your drinking. Each "day" features observations, exercises, and insights, offering a more profound process of self-discovery than common month-long programs like Dry January or Sober September. Ruby's friendly, honest, and totally non-judgmental tone helps you unmask the deeper "whys" behind your drinking, understand why 100 days is so transformational, and how to create a truly sustainable shift in habits -- and on to living a life with more presence, focus, and overall well-being.

The Sober Curious Reset is not about preaching total abstinence -- rather, it's about empowering you to make the right drinking choices, whatever this may look like for you. Ruby's 100 days is all about changing your relationship to alcohol to lead a life with more clarity, confidence, and connection.

UPDATED ⭐⭐⭐⭐ REVIEW:

I guess when I originally read this I was incapable of considering a life without alcohol, but it's been about a year and a half, and I've gone from drinking about twice a month, to two months now since my last drink. It took reading a few more books on alcohol (Drink? and This Naked Mind) to turn me. Also sleep tracking data clearly showed a problem sleeping after alcohol, and I was more likely to get injured the day after drinking. All in all, not worth it anymore.
I reread this book now that I'm open to its message, and I approve 😄

ORIGINAL ⭐ REVIEW:

Horribly negative on alcohol 🤣
I was expecting a lighter attitude and more openness to ultimately adopting moderation, after reading her first book. But this? She just constantly hammers how awful you will feel if you drink (at all?) Enough that I found myself constantly arguing with her points, and decided to give up reading it altogether.
I don't need that kind of negativity in my life. I have found that I like drinking far less than I used to, but I'm planning to keep it up in specific situations and I'm fine with that. It does not have to ruin the next day! It's called responsible moderation.
This book is not friendly to that idea, unlike her original writing on the subject.

I have a hard time rating nonfiction (and this is a workbook no less) so not adding stars – but for me overall, this is approachable and has decent reflections & observations on drinking preferences. Likely won’t read the full book but I think this is a good starting point!

Helpful exercises on the journey. If embarking on this journey I’d start with Sober Curious first and then use this is a tool as much as you need. They’re definitely good daily reflections and you’ll get out of it what you put in.

This book helped me to stop drinking altogether. I stopped “just for one summer” after a hard breakup, so I could try dating again, sober. I ended up staying sober because this book helped me see my true worth and potential without alcohol. Haven’t had a drink since. Over 3 years sober now! Thanks Ruby Warrington!

I’ve had a rough relationship with alcohol. This book, accompanied with “Sober Curiosity” helped me go on a journey of understanding why my relationship with alcohol got so out of hand. I feel better. More enlightened. I still don’t know if I will be “sober curious” or completely sober, but I at least have a better understanding of what I’m doing.

I have been alcohol free for 636 days. I did not realize at first that this book was about the first 100 days. Either way, I enjoyed the refresher. There are a lot of great tips and ideas on how to manage a sober curious life. For anyone considering it, I recommend giving this a listen.

I'm a big fan of this day-by-day guide to re-think how you drink. Sober Curious is the brainchild of Ruby Warrington. Her approach to examining how and why we drink is revolutionary. I have listened to this book 3 times now and every time I get something new out of it.

Loved this as a tool for sobriety. Some days I didn’t love the prompts, but for the most part it was great!
