Mogul-Manager, Juice had his work cut out for him when he discovered “Neezy”, a talented yet crazed gangster rapper from the slums. Neezy chose the block over the studio, while being in pure denial of his talent. The way he could lay and grace a track without much thought was beautiful to watch. Neezy was uninterested. He had the money. The girls. The clout. What would a music career do for him? Until, he watches his big brother and best friend lose his life right before his eyes. Neezy is determined to re-direct his path, not wanting to end up six feet under before his time. Carmen Kincaid, little sister to Casey Kincaid, hot-shot power attorney. She’d been in his shadow her whole life until a breaking news story hit that she’d been shot seven times by her “loving” husband. Carmen fights for her life while undergoing multiple surgeries. She holds on by a thin thread. Yet, she pulls through. Carmen divorces her now imprisoned husband and puts her life back together. One day at a time. Fast forward – five years later. She’s a successful stylist and in high-demand. Juice needs one favor from her - to create Neezy an image that the industry will accept. It’s highly suggested to start with Book 1 (Mahogany) & Book 2 (Juice) of the Love Drought Series before indulging in part three.

Nasir King. Lawd. I love this story the most. My heart broke for Tia and Juice and Carmen and Nezzy. East and Nia man you brought everybody back. Jordyn still Jordyn. I don’t want to give the story away but when she said you’re going to be my husband girllllllllllllll. Awesome awesome story.
I loved reading The Drought Series. Each book gives you an in depth look at each of the characters whose stories are told. Carmen a woman with a heart of gold, who is ambitious, and is that ride or die for her family and friends. An unexpected incident turns her world upside down and she is left trying to put the pieces of her life back together. She is left wondering where is her support system thats she's always been for others. Neezy, a street dude who took his talent for granted. It wasn't until he lost his brother/bestfriend, did he start to think about if its possible to be successful like his brother knew he could be. I loved the relationship between Carmen and Neezy, two people who have been battling loss and trying to get back to who they used to be. They were each others motivator, healer and confidant. Nothing could stop the drive they had at winning because they were each others ride or die. I was happy that Carmen made peace with her son and their relationship was growing. Neezy being more active in his mother's life was a beautiful thing and I loved how he never gave up on his niece. The cameos of the Parkers, Huffington's, Shahids and the Bovays was great. Reminded me of the good times members of the Underworld used to have whenever they got together. As always Nako knows how to put a story together that will get you to look at life like, wow, i need to be more accountable or have you wanting to finally take charge of your life and not live how others want you to be. Can't wait to see whats to come for Love Drought 4. Highly recommend reading this series.
This is probably the weakest of the three books in the series. I liked these main characters the most and they were certainly the list toxic but it was more that everyone else had so many dramas that it overwhelmed Carmen and Neezy’s story of getting over loss and tragedy. The little tidbit dropped about trouble between Nia and East at the end in the epilogue was just neither here nor there and felt unnecessary. The author also again skipped a lot of the payoff for reading books like this that are so heavy and just rushing to a speedy conclusion without really showing how we got there or having the conversations. For example, given what we learn about Kniko’s paternity and his upset with his mother about it, how did they reconcile that relationship- like what was the conversation with her ex. The choice of what to include and not include in the actual text to me didn’t always hit. I think her writing is great and she clearly has a lot of insights about faith that are really important and that she incorporates into her work. With this one especially, I just felt like there were a lot of holes and questions that tighter editing could have helped fill and make less frustrating at times to read.
I really struggled with whether or not I would leave an honest review leave or a review that would make the author feel warm and fuzzy. I finally decided to be honest with myself and about the book. Thai will be my last book by Nako. Her writing has taken on a direction that I just don’t like. I’ve said this in a review before about one of her books and I’ll say it again, these books are Christian Fiction and they should be marketed as such. Please stop misleading the readers by marketing these books as urban fiction when the entire book is comprised of prayers, religion, spirituality, God, scriptures, fasting, preachers, worshiping and the devil being busy. Before I got to 6% of the boom I had read about God, religion and prayer so many times I lost count. Is there anything wrong with these topics? No ma’am! But, let me chose to read a book about religion don’t trick me into reading about praise and worship. I am not noticing any growth from one book to the next. It’s the same story each time. Drug dealing man. Broken woman. Wealthy man. Woman bossing up. Incessant references to God, elevation, seasons, discernment, and so on. I was a number fan and I tried my hardest to stick it out but unfortunately I have to bow out gracefully. In the past, no matter what, I would always say that although I didn’t agree with the genre the book was listed in it was still a good read. Now I digress, I can’t recommend this book unless you’re into some sort of urban-Christian fiction
The Drought Series has been the humbling uplifting emotionally impactful roller coaster ride for me. Carmen as been everybody’s anchor but they dropped the ball when it was time to build her up. A complete stranger became her anchor. Nehemiah ‘Neezy’ Walker is my new book bae. I felt his loss in my soul. I have been in his shoes before. He was a man with a purpose that he didn’t really grasp until he was forced to get his life on track. This book brought out the good the bad and the ugly of relationships. It shows that you have to work. Money doesn’t supply happiness or peace Nako you did it again. I’m about to start reading it a second time
I truly think that this is my favorite book from Nako.
Carmen overcame so much. She pushed herself even when it was hard. She did the necessary work and in return she was given triple what she had. I’m glad that she and her son reconciled. I think I cried the hardest then.
Neezy took Nas’ place as my favorite character. I love how he knew who he was. He was true to himself and he was the true testament of “A man knows his wife as soon as he meets her”.
Porter is a good one. I’m glad that he was so in tune with East.
Carmen, Carmen, Carmen Kincaid was my favorite character from this series. Truly relatable life experiences was the focus for me of the storyline. Even though Mahogany & Procter (P) Bavay were my favorite couple, Neezy & Carmen were a close challenge to that position.
I can't wait to read LD IV in the near future. Get to working on your next 5 🌟 book, author Nako!
I thoroughly enjoyed Carmen's story. It was so nice to see what happened with the other couples in this book. I'm so happy that Neezy and Carmen found each other. It was very sad the loss of life in the book. You find yourself praying and cheering on the characters in the book. Nako you are such a talented author I truly enjoyed the series look forward to reading more of your work.
Let’s just say.... NAKO never seems to amaze me.I love this book.Literally went a sleepless nights reading it. So happy for Carmen. The whole situation about her kid and how he came about totaled shocked me. Never would of expected that to occur. I was beyond speechless. I e Wer oils love to know what’s going on with everyone’s life now.
This finale was awesome.Neezy and Carmen had a rocky journey and stayed the course, despite all of the obstacles that were thrown at them. I loved this story about some very strong characters who persevered through adversity.
This was the best of the love drought series, I cried, laughed, and rooted for Carmen and Neezy. If there is a book 4 updating the characters lives from all the series, I'm here for it.
I loved reading this book! Carmen and Neezy's love was amazing! I love catching up on all the family and friends! I laughed and cried! I hate that it had to end!
Carmen Kincaid, Casey’s baby sister, has always been a staple in everyone’s life because she took care of everybody without much of a fuss. That’s what a blender does, they blend in, hide their true feelings and encourages everyone. Carmen abandons ship after her ex-husband attempts to take her life…she vacates the premises ordained for the ‘fixer’ and goes into hibernation, even selling her million dollar business. So what’s to be expected once she resurfaces, especially when everyone thought of her, but no one checked for her?
Nehemiah T. “Neezy” Walker walks on the opposite side of the law and is meandering through life since the death of his brother, just chasing that dollar with no other cares. His brother’s ties connect him the right people, this connection and his untamed talent establishes him on the brink of success. Can the dope boy trade the dope game in for fortune and fame? What happens when his stylist wants to style more than his image, will these two misfits develop their own puzzle pieces that has its own rhythm and rhyme?
Personally, I wrestled with rating Carmen, because the two central characters were the least developed, seemed more as afterthoughts. Nako resurrected so many characters from previous reads, that it proved to be almost overwhelming and most definitely distracting. I haven’t read all of her books, so this became a struggle, trying to decipher their storylines, past and present. Then the name game was crazy, Tia, Nia, Tesha, Teka….I was like oh my! So I’ve given you the 4-1-1 on what gave me pause…well what solidified this 5***** rating was the depth of emotions that was evoked while reading this piece. One attribute that I adore about Nako’s writing is her ability and intent in portraying the spiritual, love it, such is life. I wholeheartedly applaud her, because she took the supernatural to another realm in Carmen, while also depicting the different beliefs and religions, the characters have iconic status, but they all thirst for the Word, a higher being to give them a semblance of purpose…Phenomenal!!! Then the realistic fussing and fighting, health scares, life, love, death, and the re-emergence of hope in the midst of it all. This was my favorite in the series, because she went deep with purpose!
Carmen Kinkaid woke up after telling her husband Keiter she was leaving in a hospital bed. Keiter plan was to wipe her off the face of the earth but she survived. Nako is so crafty in keeping us informed of our past Underworld friends as well as incorporating new friendships. As Carmen recovers she goes through a spiral of losses, closing herself off from others and facing her fears in life. Taka and Moses are having one issue. Moses has to love himself more for his family. Porter and Mahogany are on a good role as she settles down more slowly into being at home. Tia and Juice will only get better but when I say this author is brilliant in her writing. I had to take an aspirin because pulling Nasir back in took me over. My boss is better. Nia had to check that raggedy azz Jordyn. I wish she wreck!!!! Shes too comfortable. Nia and East will have you in prayer alot!! Religion, faith, love, believing in yourself and knowing all things are possible will get you reading this but there will be struggles with family, children and facing the past is all included in the beastly story. Neiamiah aka Neezy is going through shid..lost of his Money who was known by East, P, Juice..his moms health, taking care of his niece and to grow up and get out of those streets. When Neezy starts rapping he needs a stylist and Carmen is perfect for the job. Two people who have big baggage can over conquer anything they just have to put in the work. Will they? Bravo once again Nakoooooooo!!!
Neezy and Carmen were soulmates that cross paths when the timing was right! They completed each other. Was supportive of of one another careers. Plus Neezy loving 🥰 ways, no wonder Carmen kept them panties on off mode! Glad Carmen and her son got to reconcile. Glad Neezy went to see his Momma in the nursing facility and wanting to bring home to be cared for. Nako touched on subjects in this book that was needed. Mental Health, Alcoholism, Religion, Depression, Loss of a love one, Weight issues. Also always a pleasure of having characters from her other work featured in the book. In my opinion Nako hit a homerun with this book! Yes I recommend reading of Carmen!
I am soooo tored of reading Nako's books....without having a drink present! Lord the emotions she taps into from a page of even just a word, IS A WORD! Nako always gives us everything but honey Carmen gave us EVERYTHING! Loved the updates in my favorite couple Nia & East. P & Mahogany are definitely a hard second so I was beyond all in! When the lemons drop, baby you stop! Well worth wait & patiently waiting on the next series!! Yall join Nako's group on Facebook for more updates from your favs.. & email for the N list! Never know what she may bless us with!! 💎💓
Carmen went through hell and back in this book. Not only surviving her near death shooting, she accomplished great feats. After all of this, once she thought that she had everything together, she lost everyone that she loved and still survived. Can you say “strong woman”. I absolutely loved her and Nehemiah together and was shocked with the few secrets that were revealed. Carmen got her happily ever after and a relationship with her son. What a great ending. I wouldn’t mind reading more about the Bevays, the Shahids and the Walkers. OAN: I couldn’t stand Money’s baby mama.
First let me start by saying yes to Love Drought IV. OMG I love Neezy and Carmens relationship.. Neezy is so patient and selfless and Carmen needed that. I was so sad for Carmen, but I'm glad everything came together in the end. What's going on with East & Nia? I love Tia & Juice together, I hate they loss there son. I love me some P he's still the man I see. My favorite couples are Teka & Moses, & now Carmen & Neezy.. I really enjoy reading about all the couples, this book was so well written ( thank you Nako) I truly enjoyed reading Ms. Carmen's story!!
When the world around you feels like it’s falling apart and you rise from the ashes like a Phoenix you then know you have the strength to do anything. Carmen suffered so many losses that it was hard to determine if she would prevail. I have been her. I have felt like no one cared about me only about how I could benefit them. To see her smile and love again was a breath of fresh air. I am also happy for her and her son. I think in LD4 all secrets from all the couples should be laid out on the table. Maybe at a healing retreat of some kind. This was a great read I read it twice before my review
I would love a Love Drought IV with the couples. Now that Neezy and Carmen are together I want to see their relationship and Carmen with Kniko. I didn’t understand why she allowed so much time to pass before getting her son back in her life. I feel like P should know that’s his son! East has me worried. I don’t think he’s ok. Nia and East are working on themselves and battling mental illness. I want to see them succeed. Tia was so unfulfilled professionally and then she lost Zion. I want to see how her and Juice move in from this. Great read!
I loved it. I do belive Casey had his own demons mor than drinking. Their dad was a piece of work. I loved how all the couples put that time aside to regroup and focus on their relationships. I dont know why Jordyn keeps showin up. She like a loaner not needed to be present. (Team Lo) East and Nia has been through hell and back, i wasnt surprised about the depression. Him back working is a great thing. I absolutely loved this series. I cried, praised God and was just filled with joy. Thank you. 💕💕💕
Listen Fallen Knight in her prime is my all time favorite Nako character. Nasir King was a close second but babyyyy Neezy has knocked him into third! Nako continues to write good QUALITY work which is sometimes hard to find on the kindle store. She never disappoints and I am looking forward to Carmen and Neezy having a bunch of pretty babies and living happily ever after. I enjoyed this story as well as the spiritual aspect. Another BANGER! Waiting on the next story already.
Loved this series neezy went thru allot after his brother died and his mother debilitating dementia. Carmen lost everyone she loved fast and couldn't deal with the judgment of the world. It took for porter to get her back in the game and really meet her husband neezy for real. He had to learn to let go and stop being so mean to people and let them in to help him. Once they met they saw each other's problems thru and handled it great without breaking up.Great series that i would read again.
I latched onto this couple so quickly. Carmen has gone through so much and Neezy who I love his real name Nehemiah and his ways love how they worked things out & the love they have for each other now there was one thing I didn't like about the situation with Carmen's son but it be's that way sometime. I don't wanna say anything that would be a spoiler sooo.... I enjoyed this book as well as the others and gonna read the many others I haven't yet so till next review I'm gone!
