I would give this a 3.5 for content and a 5 for presentation, because other works (such as Matthew Bortolin's books on Star Wars and Buddhism) present mindfulness in much a deeper way, but the illustrations and quotes here are utterly beautiful. In short, this is a book to pick up and read in small doses, more of a coffee table book than a read-it-cover-to-cover book, but I greatly appreciated that all eras of Star Wars storytelling are included. Some of the practical suggestions are useful, as well. The artwork alone, however, is worth the price of admission.

I was delightfully surprised when I received this book! I loved Amy Ratcliffe’s Women of the Galaxy, and The Jedi Mind definitely didn’t disappoint.

This is a collection of mindfulness practices viewed through the lends of the Jedi. What I really loved though was the acknowledgment that you don’t have to be a Jedi to practice their teachings, nor does every practice have to work for you. I also loved all of the different characters that were featured; of course we get ones like Yoda and Qui Gon, but we also get characters like Ben Solo and Ventress, who I think need these teachings the most.

Overall I truly enjoyed this book and definitely recommend checking it out!

2020 has been a trying year for most of us and mental health and wellness have been at the forefront of many of our minds. Star Wars: The Jedi Mind proves to be a book that arrived right when many of us needed it.  ** READ MY FULL REVIEW AT YOUR MONEY GEEK ** https://yourmoneygeek.com/review-star...

It should come as no surprise that Star Wars can be a source of rich wisdom when it comes to being in tune with one’s self. After all, the tenants of the Jedi consist of many parallels with those who adhere to the self-mastery and discipline of yoga.

Amy Ratcliffe, a Jedi Master in her own right, guides readers through short lessons based on meditation, stretches, manifestation, breathing exercises, and self-care routines. Regardless of what you are going through, The Jedi Mind offers many practices and lessons that can be applied to our daily lives.

Each section begins with philosophical quotes from Star Wars characters and gorgeous illustrations by Christina Chung. The art perfectly compliments Ratcliffe’s tone of storytelling. The muted, natural, tones create a sense of calm and serenity that is perfectly paired with the lessons throughout the book.

If you live your life immersed in Star Wars and all things involved with that galaxy far, far away, you will want to pick up this book and embark on your own path to mindfulness through the Jedi way.

Star Wars: The Jedi Mind: Secrets from the Force for Balance and Peace arrived in bookstores everywhere on November 11th. You can also find Amy Ratcliffe’s delightful storytelling in From a Certain Point of View: The Empire Strikes Back.

Star Wars: Jedi Mind doesn’t go deep into the psychology behind mindfulness. For that, other books are needed. Rather, Star Wars: Jedi Mind provides a short 1-page anecdote from the Star Wars universe, along with a practical mindfulness exercise corresponding to the story. Many of these anecdotes are also accompanied by a nice, colorful illustration.

I found it most helpful to read one anecdote & exercise per day, reflecting on each and doing the exercises if possible. Generally, the types of exercises in this book are similar to what one would find in other mindfulness books. However, tying the exercises into a Stars Wars theme makes them more impactful and meaningful, for me at least. I’m even thinking of re-reading this book again to help be regularly reminded of the important points.

Another nice thing about this book is how it includes stories not only from the movies but also from the other parts of the Star Wars universe, showing how we can learn from these characters and their stories. It has actually made me more interested to read the Star Wars novels with some of the characters mentioned to learn more about the characters and their stories. It also masks me interested to read Amy Ratcliffe’s other mindfulness book about Marvel universe.

The only small thing I wish was added is an anecdote + exercise about C-3PO.

I think this is a really lovely little book that details different mindfulness techniques through the lens of Star Wars and our favorite characters. Quotes and characters are from throughout the series, and you're likely to find an exercise that relates to a character you love in this book. I also think it covers a good range of types of mindfulness techniques and people will undoubtedly find something that resonates with them. If you ware looking to center your life, this may be a good book to try!

It's amazing how much mindfulness is actually in Star Wars. The understanding and reflection on emotions throughout the films, series and other media. It's not just Yoda who imparts advice on others, but all the characters we encounter have something to contribute to mindfulness in the galaxy but also our actual lives.

I shall be revisiting snippets from this book in future, to help with my own mindfulness and wellbeing.

So this was disappointing. When I got it as a gift, I was expecting a fun look look at the ins and out of the Jedi order from an in universe perspective. Instead, it is really an introductory book on mindfulness. It simply uses the background of the Star Wars universe as a framing device for this introduction to mindfulness and meditation. As a Star Wars book it was lacking and as mindfulness book, I have read better.

This is an excellent book. I read the actual hardback small book which is printed on very nice paper. It is written with different ideas on each page and clearcut suggestions and practices for the reader. I liked it so much I have already started to use the various exercises to improve myself. I recommend this for everyone wanting some easy but effective steps to center yourself and ease your life. Enjoy.

A clever little summary of mindfulness techniques couched in the teachings of the Jedi from key moments throughout the films and animated television shows, accompanied by charming artwork. I was wanting to resume my meditation practice and this was a fun way to get a refresher on techniques.

I'm an avid yoga person and runner and have always thought these activities carry a sort of "Jedi-ness" with them. This book is great and concretely pulls that together for me. I've tabbed so many pages with things I want to put into practice.

I started this and was doing a page a day. Then months went by and I hadn’t picked it up. Decided to just read through the rest today. Now the reading part is done and the doing part can begin. Lots of mindfulness exercises that I’d like to put into practice and have a Jedi Mind.
