Find Meaning. Own Your Power. Transform your World. When we're 'head-heavy', we can get stuck. Inspiration is felt in the heart and the gut, and the way it feels is fierce. The 'fierce' is waiting for you to acknowledge it, to allow it and believe it.
As we commit to ourselves and stop questioning our fierce, the doubt and fear that we have been brought up with dissolve, and we accept our own power. Our impact on the world around us shifts. We start to see how our own transformation inspires change in others and we realise we are not alone.
Brita Fernandez Schmidt has spent 25 years championing women's rights across the world, nurturing her own fierce and inspiring others to do the same. Through a combination of guidance, storytelling and practical tools, her rallying call in Fears to Fierce will inspire you to realise your purpose and potential, ignite your fierce and create the life you have been dreaming of.
Fabulous. Really thought provoking. A book I read through once cover to cover but am now revisiting to make notes and refocus on some of the action points. Highly recommended
I’ve admired Brita for many years now so I had high hopes for this book, and it did not disappoint.
I often struggle to find the meaning in books relating to self development because I can never see the writers practice what they preach in a way that has clear, meaningful impact. I don’t want to shrink this book down to a message about career, but I am so grateful that much of Brita’s work with Women for Women has been done publicly, because it becomes easy to see the good that adopting some of the values and taking some of the steps mentioned in the book can have. All the steps are very clear and concise, and actually feel very doable! I practiced a few of the recommended actions as I was reading the book, but I’ve made notes of so many I want to remember as tools moving forward as I think they could be so valuable.
The personal stories that inform the self development steps are EVERYTHING, and they range from everyday occurrences to stories of women who have had their lives significantly impacted by conflict. What I love the most is the focus on allowing yourself to be inspired, and how one person being inspired can have an enormous ripple effect (but can also be meaningful even if it only ever touches one person!). As much as this book is a guide to overcoming fear and owning your fierce, it equally feels like a love letter to everyone that has ever inspired Brita.
I think there’s something for everyone in this book, whether you are trying to learn how to own your fierce or if you just need some reassurance that human kindness still exists!
Fun, inspiring book to read for those who are looking for guidence in finding their purpose in life. Brita calls it her "fierce" in this book. From my understanding the term describes a combination of passion and direction (the term "fierce" is not my favorite word to describe this combination, which was a little unfortunate while reading, since the word is mentioned a lot). Brita is an inspiring woman as she leads a non profit organization focused on helping women get back on their feet, who've experienced immense (sexual) violence, fear and pain. Stories from the women she has helped through her organisation form the core of the book: they are the inspiration that many of the lessons in the book are derived from. Brita also shares her own experiences with difficulties and the lessons she has learned. It is always nice to be able to recognize yourself in (parts of) someone else's experience.
This book might inspire your own sense of activism and how you might want to influence others in a positive manner.
It is a book that tries to stimulate self reflection with practical tips and actions to take: like writing a mission statement for yourself, and how you can go about doing so.
All in all, the book was fun, clear, practical and helpful in some ways.
Loved this, Brita writes from the heart and through this it is easy to see that this writing this book is part of the Fears to Fierce journey. This is the first personal development book that I have read and I believe that it's a wonderful handbook to reframing your mindset and finding your fierce
An inspiring and empowering book. It’s divided into 3 parts/themes- Find meaning , own your power and transform your world. Every part has a couple of chapters explaining how we can apply these themes to our lives. Such an informative and thought provoking book teaching us to tap into our inner fierce and to be our true authentic selves. A must read for everyone, highly recommend it. I finished a couple of highlighter pens towards the end of the book because the writing style was so engaging and inspiring that a person like me couldn’t help but highlight most of the stuff and make notes to remember everything taught in the book. The author’s sources of inspiration mentioned in the 2nd last chapter are quite an interesting mix. Can’t wait to explore some of them as well. Excited to see what Brita comes up with next.
I loved this book- my friend lent this to me and it felt like it really spoke to the part of me that wants us all to connect to fierce strength. I really resonated with the part in the book which spoke about the things that made me feel that fierceness as a child and how it gives clues to our calling. I can see the key times in my life that created fierce within me. I thought this book was great for woman empowerment and more. I loved the real life examples of women through out- a great read.
It was alright! Very repetitive, could have read this in one day but the last 2 chapters were a slog to read. Loved the message behind this book, a message that all women should read. However, could have been an email and i still would have felt empowered!
