Can an alien brawler and a gentle scientist stop arguing long enough to kiss?

Jalok might have a teeny bit of an anger management problem. But that's alright. He's here for the battle. Xathi, walking trees, rioting mobs.
He's ready to fight against anything, no matter the consequences.
Until suddenly, he has someone to fight for.

Dottie loves her quiet life in Kaster.
She has friends, her great-great-something grandfather's bicycle.
A killer recipe for chili chocolate brownies.
And a new best friend who happens to be a planet-sized plant. Entity. Whatever.

When Jalok is assigned to protect her, sparks fly. He can protect her from anything. But will they be safe from each other?

Jalok is the fourteenth book in the Conquered World science fiction romance series.
Each book features the romance of a new couple, with alpha male alien warriors and women who don't put up with their nonsense. No cheating, no cliffhangers, HEA guaranteed!

ugh... jalock jalock... if you want to have a hot piece of man flesh with a issue with authority (though he is on a team which requires military-type-swave) yeah, he's not the one you're looking for.

he's sassy, sarcastic, foot-in-the-mouth, all around bad boy your momma warned you about.

where do i sign up for my own?

wow

This was well wow 🤩. Omg this series is getting intense ok so now the alien haters well we finally find out that their feelings might not be their own. Makes total sense someone out there has the capability of controlling people’s emotions im thinking some sort of tiny implant or something. Gosh that would explain so much. But to attack Jalock with acid is just cruel!!!!! Dottie is so lucky. I would love to be in her shoes. I would have totally picked Jalock over all the others at least so far 😀

Well isn't dottie a sweetie. She starts out with a type of nerdie quality that syncs well with the PM which gave me an insight to what part of this story might be about. I found her personality had some toughness but she was still to sweet for her own good.
Apart from the last novel leaving an open-ended question this one virtually continues with the same antagonists planet side and then some.
I was wondering if I could get into this book as I'm getting a bit weary of all the political agendas.
Jalok's character is very military and is feeling homesick so I automatically knew that he wasn't going to be an easy alpha to get to know. And from the first bout of action, he proved to be a jacknut. And he didn't get much better. His grumpiness and snark made it hard for me to like him, until, of course, I had no choice.
The politics still persists in this book and I found even though there was more emotional drama here, there were some flaws to the plot which hasn't happened before..I'm thinking these flaws may be explained in the next book.

Skotan warrior Jalok has an anger management problem and is only interested in battle whether that be with Xathi, walking trees or rioting mobs. Scientist Dottie loves the quiet life she has in Kaster. She has friends, an inherited bicycle and a killer recipe for chilli chocolate brownies. When Jalok is assigned to protect her sparks start to fly. He is certainly tough enough to protect her from anything but she doesn't want to be protected and so the question is are they going to be safe from each other and can they stop arguing for long enough to kiss each other?

This was a pleasant story that added more information to the mystery of the puppet master and potential dangers for the occupants of the planet. It was fun to see how Jalok learnt how to control his temper and his violence - he just needed Dottie to be the voice of reason in his head. Easy to read and understand however a bit irritating in places with their massive differences. Contains some sexual content.

Let me start off by saying that this book has a truly unique plot. In 2000 books, I’ve read in my lifetime, I’ve never read anything like it. Having said that, most of the books did not have a lot of plot development. They happened every few books or so. The couples would meet and fall in love within 2 to 3 days and suddenly they’re all life partners which I find extremely hard to believe and doesn’t allow you to get to know the characters as fully as You could/should. So I hope she works on that. This book set could’ve been so much more than it was. As I previously mentioned, the plot was unique, and I would have loved to see more of it In all of the books. My chapter review is below. Negative means little to no plot development and plus equals plot development. And the plus and minus mean there was a little bit of plot development, but not a lot. Are you confused?

I am really enjoying the Conquered World series, its characters, and its overall story. This particular entry was enjoyable but the reason I knocked off a couple of stars was the proofreading was just so lacking. There were sentences not finished, words that were clearly homophones or had a couple of letters left off, and some errors that left me just guessing what was meant by the context. But the gist of the story and the 2 main characters were fun to read about.

Better

Then the last one. Still can not understand why author treated the so call advanced species and humans as too dumb to figure out simple logic and make simple tech from planet materials or their replicator.
Not to mention the problem of others invading and causing weird behaviors

The aliens in this series sure have been through a lot! At least they are finding their romance and mates. I liked the couple in this book. The chemistry worked.

I received an ARC edition of this book from the author.

I wasn't a big fan of Jalok's attitude at the beginning. Although I could understand his desire to return to his world, his arrogance and violence was pushing it. I like that we got to see a bit more of the Puppet Master through Dottie's connection to him. I did think that she took risks beyond what she should, especially given the anti-alien tensions. I liked seeing how Jalok began to change because of his time with Dottie, how he tempers his reactions to events. I thought they had a cute relationship.

This gave a bit more about the new enemy that is facing these men and women. There are still a lot of mysteries to be solved, but we're getting closer to seeing what this new enemy can do (even if not the why).

This book has got to be the funniest in the series. Dottie's arguing and Jalok's teasing had me laughing most of the time. They spent so much time being difficult and aggravating to each other while the sexual tension was building up till they couldn't deny their attraction any longer. I thought Jalok and Dottie were perfect for each other. The last half of the book gets very serious though. There's near death moments and emotions running high for everyone. Poor Dottie really gets her inner strength tested with all that happens but thankfully there's a great ending to their story. I voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy of this book.

Dottie and Jalok

Another lively installment of the Conquered worlds series. This is the third arc in this highly entertaining space adventure romance. Their is a new enemy! The Xanthi have been defeated for now , their is tentative peace between the humans and the aliens with love blossoming between many with children on the way. But this new enemy is scary because you can't see it. It's invading the humans bodies and turning them against the aliens even the ones they love. just when you think peace is just within reach something horrible happens ! I can't wait to see what happens next!

This one is funny. Almost as funny as Sk'lar. Dottie is at a dig site that is not right. The procedures are not being followed and everything is secretive. That is enough to cause some concern, but when she has to run for her life things get real very fast. Jalok already has a chip on his shoulder since he does not want to be here. He gets the job of Dottie's bodyguard and neither are excited. He was a scientist on his home world and Dottie is an adventurer. Expect some major fighting and danger. Each episode of this series is exciting and new. I requested an advanced reader copy and am under no obligation to leave this review.

Dottie and Jalok

You either love this series or you don't. Dottie is funny, sarcastic, smart and just generally human. Jalok is a grouchy, bad ass alien that meets his match in Dottie. Suddenly he becomes soft around the edges and attempts to be less of a grouch. They continue the fight against anti-alien mobs. Weird things are happening to humans' minds and the reader is anxiously left with more questions than answers.

Book 14 in the Conquered World series and this book is just as intriguing, action packed and suspenseful as all the previous books in the series..... this book had me laughing and giggling more than of all the other books.
This story is proof that opposites do attract as Jalok is all brawn and would rather use his fists to get his point across where as Dottie sees good in everything and everyone ..
Absolutely adored this book and recommend it to all.

Jalok

The suspense keeps growing as an ancient enemy is steadily attacking humans. For some reason it wants our alien not bodies gone or are they just a fuse the enemy can light? Awesome story.
