3 Wildly Funny Full-Length Novels + 1 Hilarious Bonus Short by international bestselling author Melanie Summers.

THE ROYAL TREATMENT

For fans of Bridget Jones and The Princess Diaries comes a laugh-out-loud, feel-good comedy with a sizzling side of romance…

Ultra-private, ridiculously handsome Crown Prince Arthur has always gotten by on his charm. But that won’t be enough now that the Royal Family is about to be ousted from power once and for all. When Prince Arthur has to rely on the one woman in the kingdom who hates him most, he must learn that earning the love of a nation means first risking his heart.

Twenty-eight-year-old Tessa Sharpe, aka The Royal Watchdog, hates everything about Prince Arthur. As far as she’s concerned, he’s an arrogant, lazy leech on the kingdom of Avonia. When he shocks the nation by giving her the keys to the castle, Tessa has no choice but to accept and move in for two months. It’s lust at first sight, but there’s no way she can give in to her feelings—not if she wants to have a career or a shred of pride left when her time at the palace ends…

Can two natural enemies find their forever in each other’s arms, or will they ruin each other to save themselves?

THE ROYAL ENGAGEMENT BONUS SHORT

When Prince Arthur's plans for an unforgettable proposal go awry, he and Tessa find themselves causing an international incident.

Don't miss this never-before-published, laugh-out-loud story!

THE ROYAL WEDDING

One overbearing mother-of-the-bride. One king who will stop at nothing to see that the wedding never happens. One very accomplished lady-in-waiting who’s desperate to get her hands on the prince’s crown jewels. And one feisty bride who’s determined not to let anyone stand in her way of making it down the aisle to find her Prince Charming waiting…

THE ROYAL DELIVERY

One very pregnant princess determined to finally win over the people (while at the same time becoming the perfect mom). One prince who wants nothing more than to protect his wife from her nasty critics (not to mention her horrible family). Two irritating in-laws who move into the palace due to a house fire. Enough tension to make the Dalia Lama snap.

Don’t miss the hilarious conclusion of the Crown Jewels series!

I enjoyed ALL 3 books in this series. Like typical Summers books, lots of wit and humorous dialogue. I loved how both characters grow into themselves with each other's help. I loved Tessa's klutzy character and how she learned to be more honest with herself and Arthur for opening up his eyes to his potential and love.I also love the growth of the couple, unlike regular romance where we just see the HEA and that's it.  Of course, this series is not complete without everything that seems to go wrong in Tessa's life. Even though I did burst out laughing, I did shed tears at the climax. Even though there were so many hilarious parts in this book, I felt like the book also highlighted the humanness of both Tess and Arthur as they go through the stress of different life stages. There's so many good uplifting messages in this book too. I loved all the side characters in the book. I've burst out laughing a couple of times while reading.  I'm sad to end this series. Such a good read! Recommended!

The Crown Jewels Boxed Set, by Melanie Summers, is a set of 3 novels and a short story. The problem with reviewing a collection like this is that after the first novel, in order to review the rest, anything you write is a spoiler. I’ll at least put spoiler in caps so a person can read at their own risk.

BOOK 1

I seldom believe it when an author or whoever writes the blurb for a book claims that it’s hilarious. However, The Royal Treatment, the first book in this collection, actually lives up to the hype. It’s absolutely laugh-out-loud hilarious in a number of places; in fact, I chuckled (out loud, no less) for days over several places in the book. Just remembering them was enough to set me off again.

The female protagonist is Tessa Sharpe, the only girl in a family of 5 children and she is teased mercilessly by her brothers. Tessa is a disaster waiting to happen and it always happens at the worst possible times. She runs a blog reviewing various products, as well other blogs pertaining to photography, running and a site about the Royals called The Royal Watchdog. The site about the Royals urges the country to oust the Royal family and leave the running of the country to those who are voted into office. She’s made statements that the Crown Prince and his father, the King, do nothing and thus are unnecessary to the kingdom.

The prime minister, whom the Royals helped into office, is planning to propose a referendum on doing away with the Royal family and turning all power over to the council (to be led by himself, of course). Crown Prince Arthur takes exception to this and asks his closest advisers to identify who is their biggest critic. Both men answer immediately with Tessa’s name. He proposes to invite her to live in the palace for 2 months and shadow him so that she can see exactly what they do for the country. His reasoning is that all he has to convince is 1 person and that person will convince the rest of the country. Much to his (and her) surprise, Tess accepts his offer and moves into the palace.

Will Arthur’s plan work or will Tess continue to be critical of the Royal family? Will a referendum actually be proposed? And if so, how will the vote go? To find out the answer to these and other questions, you’ve got to read the book. It’s a really, really good book and you’ll be glad you did!

***** SPOILERS *****

BOOK 2

The second part of the collection is The Royal Engagement, a short story. The title is pretty self-explanatory as to what the story is about. Arthur has planned a special outing to ask Tessa to marry him; after all, what could possibly go wrong? He’s forgotten about Tessa’s predilection to be a disaster magnet. Altogether, this is a cute story.

***** SPOILERS *****

BOOK 3

The third part of the collection is The Royal Wedding, again, pretty self-explanatory. However, the real story is how Arthur and Tessa actually make it to the alter. Tessa is from a middle-class family and she now finds herself rubbing elbows with the rich and famous elite (at least when any of them deign to get close enough to her to rub elbows). She knows that she’s just as good as any of them, but she does find it rather intimidating.

Tessa especially has a problem with Lady Doctor Brooke Beddingfield. The lady doctor seems to be perfect in every way; she’s beautiful, graceful, intelligent and born to Arthur’s world. She and Arthur have a long history together and Brooke is the woman that the country wants Arthur to marry. How does Tessa overcome this and how does she convince Arthur that the lady doctor would like to be more than a friend to him?

Arthur asks his grandmother to throw a wedding shower for Tessa. The day of the shower, about 200 snooty women show up for the dinner (no gifts, please). Tessa’s mother tries to liven thing up by planning some games that would be played if the shower were held in Tessa’s neighborhood. Is this a success?

The wedding planner, the second best in the world, is like a little Hitler. He tells Tessa that she must lose at least 20 pounds before the wedding, although Arthur likes Tessa just like she is; if he wanted an anorexic bride, he could have found one among all the women that move in his world.

Arthur’s sister Arabella doesn’t like Tessa, although she’s never taken the time to get to know her. Tessa spends Christmas at Didsbury, a 700-year-old castle built from stone in a beautiful setting, with Arthur, Arabella, and his grandmother, Princess Florence. Will this be the time when a miracle happens and she is finally accepted by Arabella?

This was an excellent book and it was lovely to see Tessa grow from a somewhat insecure woman to one who could hold her own. There were some humorous parts to this book, but I found it to be more serious than the first book. However, keep in mind that Tessa is still a disaster magnet!

***** SPOILERS *****

BOOK 4

The fourth and final part of the collection is The Royal Delivery. Although there were definitely good parts to this book, I didn’t much care for a lot of the book. I don’t find it amusing when someone vomits into the soup of the person next to them or into trash bins during a meeting. This is 2020 and if a woman is experiencing morning sickness (all day long) to the extent that Tessa is, there are drugs that will alleviate that (which she finally discovers). I didn’t like the descriptions of how Tessa stuffed her face full of food all day long, nor did I like how she treated Arthur during the pregnancy.

That being said, Tessa does find some constructive activities during the pregnancy that bring her to the people’s attention, and for once, in a good way.

There’s not a whole lot more I can say about the book without giving away things that I don’t want to give away. All I can say is that the good parts are really good and make the book worth reading. Besides, you might find some of the descriptions I didn’t like to be amusing!

The Royal Delivery - This is the first book I've ever read by Melanie Summers and the first in this at-least two book series, which follows Tessa Sharpe, blogger extraordinaire and Arthur Langdon, Crown Prince of Avonia. Tessa and Arthur traverse the usual sweetness and sometimes sourness that comes with new love and new situations. This reads like a historical romance (retain/overthrow the Monarchy and don't try to escape your station in either direction but we all know how that usually works out in romances, wink, wink) but updated for the modern age, what with the hyper-aware internet age and product testing reviews on social media websites, among other things. This also contains much more humor than in historicals and reads like the feel-good chick-lit movie genre, that I, personally, happen to love. I greatly enjoyed this book and am looking forward to what Mrs. Summers brings us in the next installment.

The Royal Wedding - An excellent follow-up to The Royal Treatment! The continuation of the lives of Tessa Sharpe and Prince Arthur Langdon. This time, they are headed down the road to matrimonial bliss. Or are they? There are many detractors to their relationship: a standoffish sister, a not-in-favor-of-the-union father, the Hate Tessa/Brooke Is Better bloggers, Brooke herself, the controlling wedding planner and his team, etc. Tessa is under incredible pressure from all sides, trying to fit in wedding planning (and trying to fit in her wedding dress), time getting to know her future in-laws, time with her neglected-feeling best friend, learning how to be a princess and future queen, trying to find a spare minute without her own family constantly underfoot, and putting in 12+ hour days at her job as a magazine reporter. She also fears that Arthur may be being unfaithful, due to his being more constantly busy than usual, contributing to their decreased amount of time spent with each other, and always on his phone. Tessa is also deeply mistrustful of the aforementioned Dr. Brooke Beddingfield, a childhood friend of Arthur's who has her own designs on the prince and heir apparent. How do Tessa and Arthur handle the pressures placed on them always and do they finally make it down the aisle? You should pick up a copy of The Royal Wedding today and find out.

I greatly enjoyed this book and found it funnier than the original, which is saying something. You should read the original before reading this book as it is a true continuation and you'll have a more enjoyable reading experience if you've read The Royal Treatment first. This book (like the first) again has the feel of being a historical romance but is definitely set in the modern age. If you like movies (or books) such as The Princess Diaries, this book and story shares many things in common with them (though this book is an adult rom-com and not YA fiction), you'll definitely enjoy The Royal Wedding.

The Royal Delivery - The conclusion to the Crown Jewels series. Like the first two, a lot of humor and heart, this time along with what is probably a fairly realistic look at the fears, the pitfalls, the trials, and the tribulations of becoming parents, especially for the first time. Because of this, the characters felt 'off' to me and I didn't enjoy it as much as previous entries in the series. However, it's always nice to take a vacation to Valcourt Palace and catch up with old friends and I immensely enjoyed the read for that. And I recommend this, especially as a very fitting end to an enjoyable series. Definitely check it out if you get the chance.

I always prefer to read a series as a boxed set. This series consists of three full books, THE ROYAL TREATMENT, THE ROYAL WEDDING, and THE ROYAL DELIVERY and a short THE ROYAL ENGAGEMENT as book 1.5.

The series will tug at all of your emotions for its humor, passion, tenderness, family, and healing.

Tessa is a fierce and passionate commoner set up to meet the Crown Prince Arthur of Avonia. Arthur is the ultimate Prince Charming. Their differences bring them together despite many obstacles put in their way. They have to decide who they are as a couple without losing what first drew them to each other in an environment that did not favor their union.

The first book is about the meeting, getting to know one another and their families, and courtship. The second book is about the wedding planning, the consequences of “keeping little things from each other” and staying true to oneself. Book three is about their first pregnancy and the challenges of emotions, public opinion and supporting each other.

I loved the series. I laughed out loud often. These are seriously funny books and I admire the author’s ability to keep that same tone through all three. Then there were tears. Summers made me feel the sadness just as deeply as the humor. You will enjoy this series, so read it as a box set while you can.

Thoroughly enjoyable trilogy. This box set of 'THE ROYAL TREATMENT, THE ROYAL WEDDING, and THE ROYAL DELIVERY' make an extensive book, practically a saga. An incredibly enjoyable, page-turning story about Tessa and Prince Arthur. The book takes us through from the beginning of their relationship, engagement, marriage, pregnancy, and delivery. Such important milestones in young people's lives. We all love babies, but we get a lot more with this book. First of all, our protagonists are very likable, well developed, and described characters along with equally well described supporting characters with all their likable and also infuriating meddling habits. Tessa is in some respects a klutz, as well as a passionate yet somewhat insecure young woman with the mentality and values of a commoner who teaches Arthur a thing or two about love, honesty, and the hilarity of life’s unexpected turns. The chemistry between Tessa and Arthur is very well described and the tension-points in the story are very well-paced. The entire box set is a romantic comedy. I was indeed laughing so hard at times that I cried. At the same time, the book shows the humanity, affection, responsibility of real life along with the anxious, sad times we all encounter. I loved this heartwarming, well-edited book full of intelligent wit and have no hesitation in recommending it to anyone who likes quality writing.

Trilogy of hilarity

Funny, scary, odd, inoleasant (as in some of the characters), kind of reminiscent of the movie in the 90s about a teenaged girl of a single mom who finds put she is a princess...doesn't want to be...gets hoodwinked & used...pnmy in this case, it's a regular girl who ends up falling fir a prince & learningnl she has been wrong about a great many things. It's about ehat we can learn from each other as well as what we can learn from our own mistakes. Some of it is dead serious & some is funny, & mostly it's a mox of both. Any woman who has had a baby can relate to the crazy things all those hoemones do to your body. Any guy can relate to the bewildered state to whuch their mate's pregnancy can drive them.
The best characters are the prince's grandmum, his sister, the new princess's best friend, the new princess's bodyguard, the blue cheese guy, & im a comical way, the PR guru. Theh msot surprising are the king & the other grandpa, & at the end, the bodyguard's new role. I guesss I tend to adire the odddball sifmde characters who play their bits as a counterpoint to everything else (not a surprise as I couldd almoat always, in my younger days, name the character actors but not the stars...now, I can't name either).
I very highly recommend this 3 book set. I hope the author wrotes more humor like this. Please???

Here is a boxed set of laughter as royalty meets commoner, including the titles: The Royal Treatment, The Royal Wedding, The Royal Delivery, and a short addition titled The Royal Engagement.

The books will give the characters obstacles in their paths so that the reader can find the humor in what seems like it should be so easy to fix. But nothing is ever actually easy, and the humor will get us through anything life throws at us. Even with a few tears, they won’t last and they can make a relationship stronger. Then you can expect the busy-body interfering relatives who know best what should be done. You may recognize a few of them from your own experiences. At the end of it all, you WILL be entertained! It shows the humor in all that life brings us and I think you will enjoy this set.

Like a Disney fairytale, girls young and old dream about meeting and falling in love with a Prince and have him love her back.  With the real Royal Weddings of Prince William and Prince Harry to commoners, that dream may seem more within reach than in the past.

The Crown Jewels play along those same lines as the backdrop to a very real romance story where it was not love at first sight, in fact more like disdain at the beginning, evolving to a mutual respect and then love for each other in Book 1.  Having it as a box set allows you to then follow their story through to their proposal in the bonus mini, wedding planning in Book 2, and the life after the wedding once the "honeymoon" period is over and you settle into real life in Book 3.

Funny stories!!

Most times I've found stories that are called " hilarious " to only be worth a short chuckle. This collection is definitely FUNNY. The Sharpe family is beyond ridiculous with one daughter who catches the attention of a Prince when she's moved into the castle to blog about how worthless they are. Her brothers are insensitive and rude and her mom is cringe worthy which makes them feel real! His father is absolutely horrible, his sister spends all her time on charities, and grandmother is old and enjoys gambling with the staff. I found myself laughing at many of the antics which are numerous, because nothing seems to go as planned for this couple!

What a comical book set. This is a progressive story book set revolving around Authur and Tessa. Tessa does not like the Royal family, thinks they should be ousted from power and finds herself invited to live at the Royal Estate for 2 months to show that they are not a bunch of slackers living off their peasants money. It is a comical journey.

Written as a 1st person, multi pov with a HEA ending.

Would I recommend this book set? Yes

Would I read more from this author? Yes

Hilariously wonderful

Tess and Arthur are wonderful characters! I am so glad that I’ve started this series on a weekend, because it was almost impossible to put down! Luckily I was able to finish it before things got too crazy on Monday! Laughter and tears, and some very realistic characters made for a great reading experience. Also gave me insight into the complex relationships within a family, but reminded us no matter how crazy the relatives make us, we still need them and love them. Definitely would recommend this book, proof is that I am talking about it tonight at bookclub!

A fairy-tale romance

Arthur, Crown Prince of Avonia, and Tessa, a struggling “under-achieving” (according to her family) blogger are an unlikely pair. A cross between ‘King Cophetua and the Begger Maid,’ and ‘Cinderella,’ these stories exemplify the maxim that opposites attract, and love conquers all. The whole series was a delight, and I truly enjoyed this delectable chick-lit story. (And do not under any circumstance take the label as derogatory. A well-written story with delightful engaging characters, who grow, and grow on you, IS literature, of a specific genre.). This made me happy I read it.

Laugh-Out-Loud Funny Romance
What a fun series! It is definitely R rated for Sex and Language, but quite readable. This is a Romantic-Comedy series that is funny without being slapstick. It addresses all the aspects of new love, the adjustments of 2 very different backgrounds, and the need for self-respect and confidence. This is a long series. I never got bored and was sorry to see it end. I have read another series by this author and have greatly enjoyed that one, too. I received this ARC book for free from Booksprouts and this is my honest review.

The Crown Jewels series is a romantic comedy. It tells the story of Tessa, a girl who hates the crown prince Arthur, but when they meet, it's lust at first sight. In this series you can really see the development of their relationship, with all the good and the bad times. I laughed so many times while reading these books. The characters were very funny and I loved them a lot! I would definitely recommend this series to anyone who likes to read romance with a good amount of humor.

After reading the first book, I just had to keep reading and was glad to find the collection of the first three books! The stories of how Arthur met Tess, then married, and then had their babies is so sweet and funny. The books had me laughing out loud one minute and tearing up the next remembering my own wedding, pregnancy and in law stories! Great series!

This is a collection of family drama that makes you laugh- and makes you really happy the drama belongs to someone else!

Relatives are crazy when they feel entitled to mess in other people’s lives - and there are literally nations of folks with their own criticisms and over-actively shared opinions

Lust, love, so much laughter and meddling, and baby drama for the ages!

Laugh out loud enjoyable

I don't leave reviews because I never know what to say. I will say that I enjoyed all three of these stories. I loved that Tessa was a foul-mouthed, regular person. I enjoyed Arthur's sensitivity. This series would make a wonderful series for the telly. I laughed out loud (seriously, my husband was looking at me like I was nuts), I got teary-eyed, and I completely enjoyed every word.

The Crown Jewels Boxed Set

A hilarious, touching, very real story. To be honest I expected a fairy tale romance - and there were a few times the story started to drift into that genre, and yet somehow managed to bring it back! Melanie crafted a very realistic depiction of what life would be like in the arms of the once and future King Arthur Langdon. Recommended for anyone who likes a slightly juicy, enjoyable read.

Fantastic series!

Why can’t I give more than 5 stars??? If you are looking to escape from all the unrest going on right now, then this is the series for you! It has great writing with laugh out load and hilarious characters and incidents! I can’t wait to read more from this author. It does contain adult language and situations but is not sexually graphic. Like I said it is hilarious!! Highly recommend!!!!

Funniest, most Heartwarming Book

This trilogy was the funniest, delightful thing I have read in a very long time. I would start my day with it’s humor and adventurous heroine (and her prince), and read some more just before bed to dispel all the weighty and sometimes awful news of this election year during a Pandemic. This boxed set is a true gift to its readers! Thank you, Ms. Summers, for the gift of laughing out loud throughout this series!

I absolutely love this series. It has it all...enemies to lovers, jealous exes, interfering family members, laugh out loud comedy, romance, emotional outbursts, it even has a pig, cat and a fish. I didn't want it to end. I enjoyed it so much that I still continue to reread them. This is my favorite Royal romance book. A must read.

This trilogy is so much fun. Enemies to lovers, political schemes, and with just enough family drama to make it interesting but not angsty. This trilogy is finished so no waiting for the new reader. But, interwoven through the fun fluff, are real issues including class differences. Be prepared to laugh out loud while rooting for Tessa and Arthur's evolving relationship.

I read the trilogy and my reviews are posted for each book, but I can only say this series is a must read. Outrageously funny and with the addition of the Proposal Novella I can tell you to trust Tessa to make Arthur lose any good sense he was born with. Which at times is questionable. What a fusspot that man is. I loved it.
