I’m irresistible to the Volkov brothers. I can’t choose just one.

Hi, I'm Nora Blessing, and I'm a wolf shifter. Last summer, everything I believed about reality took a shift. I was bitten by a wolf. Turned out my fear of rabies was unfounded. I had much bigger things to worry about. Like turning furry and eating little fluffy forest creatures.

But I’m not all alone. As well as whoever that wolf was who bit me, there’s a whole academy full of wolf shifters learning how to be themselves in a modern world. And despite my mediocre performance in high school, the Lycan Academy considers me worthy of a full-ride scholarship to their hallowed halls. I’ve survived the first semester—well, I haven’t seen my grades, yet, but I’m alive. And after being attacked by a terrifying demonic entity, I appreciate the fact I’m still breathing I’ve learned how to shift without everyone seeing me naked. Big plus. The four hottest guys in school seem to have me in their sights. Not typical Nora stuff.

I thought I’d adjusted pretty well until an outbreak of chaos revealed layers of mystery and possibly horror in my new school. Something or someone is loose in the halls and on the grounds, endangering all my new friends, and focusing on me in particular. What is it about me that is attracting all the crazy?

I wish I knew. Because I’m scared.
And I can’t just go home.
I’m a wolf. I belong with other wolves.

Second Growl is a paranormal shifter academy romance with four of the sexiest guys ever and a brand new shifter finding her way in their world. It’s book 2 of the Lycan Academy, and the heat and suspense will climb with each volume. This slow-burn reverse harem romance will make readers crave more with every page.

why oh why....

So, I think i'm going to be giving this series a break for a bit. I'm going to be honest, I'm an easy sell. i love a good story and will totally overlook most things, but first off; the russian dialect is annoying. The boys have lived in america since they were little, they shouldn't talk that way, and the author trying to have them talk that way is jarring and pulls you out of the story. Then the story about who her parents are, and who Sharon is... it doesn't jive. then to top it all off her being upset at Syn, made me mad. Like you didn't know one of them bit you; they literally told you in the first book he was the on in trouble for biting you lol. I'm literally scrubbing my hands over my face just totally upset. I get this is probably an new author. But please, please have people read these over before you publish. You have a great story concept, but the execution needs work. I really wish this was better, because I can't go through a whole book being told everything and not shown, and her being mad at someone when she doesn't need to be. The build up wasn't worth it, and you aren't satisfying me as a reader.

I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving an honest review. As I’ve said before, I always give honest reviews whether people appreciate them or not.

This story begins with Nora Blessing sitting on a balcony of the library of her school watching a team of men trying to catch some girl. Nora spends incredible amounts of time at the library trying to learn all the things she knows nothing about since the wolf shifter life is so new to her. She still has the four Volkov brothers, who call her their mate, but she’s been avoiding them. Nora can’t decide which one to choose so her choice is to not make one at all. The only real friend she has is AJ, her roommate. AJ is ok I guess, but seems only good for gossip.

The best scene was when Mrs. Voltaire, the librarian, actually speaks with her about Demons. She wants to read up on them since it seems that there is one attacking her. She wants to be able to fight it. That really is the only part I was ok with. Except for Chapter two and that scene, I spent the first six chapters saying to myself that Nora is really just too stupid to live. Aurgh! It was very frustrating. The mean girls are still terrible, and Nora is constantly having meltdowns.

The first book was entertaining, but this book did nothing but annoy me. I realize that Nora is a teenager, she’s nineteen, and all of this paranormal stuff is kind of scary, especially when you didn’t grow up with it. Truly I understand. However, when I began rooting for the demon to just get it over with and kill her already I knew it was time to stop reading. I apologize. Ms. March, I really couldn’t go on reading. I know there are readers who have not seen the book through my eyes and have loved it, I did not.

This was a great addition to the Lycan Academy series and was so much better than the first! Nora thought she was finally settling into the academy and the shifter world after her first semester. But, as luck would have it, being a rare bitten shifter, having the four hottest guys vying for her attention, and a demon attacking her was only part of her worries because now she has an evil doppelgänger who wants to ruin and take over her life.
I’m starting to like Nora more, but I still want to slap her for not giving into the mate bond with the Volkov brothers- they have more than proven that they care, love, and will protect her at any cost. I enjoyed learning more about the Volkov’s past and their family and it helped me understand their bond to one another better. My heart aches for Syn, I can’t tell you why, but I understand why he’s been more distant than his brothers. I was a little disappointed that we didn’t get to see much of AJ, my favorite character, but hopefully she gets more book time in the next one.
I liked that this book focused more on her relationship with the guys, that she started listening to her Wolf more, and that there was more mystery and secrets. I liked the introduction to other shifters, not just wolves, witches, and the mention of Cupid being an asshole was hilarious. I thought Mazzy did a great job with the twists that she used in the plot because I didn’t see one of them coming after reading First Howling. Also, Mazzy always manages to make me hungry when I read her books- her food descriptions make my mouth water and wish I had my own Danger to cook me food all of the time.

Well, not the worst book I've read for sure, but it was lacking. It took me roughly 3 hours to read, felt incredibly rushed (no the length of the book didn't make it feel rushed but the fact that it kept jumping and jumping), I mean some parts just confusing didn't the um *cough* demon say um *cough cough* some certain friend was tied up in a burrow...but yet it jumped past that and everyone saying friend ran off. Also, Nora acted really whiney, like way more so than in the last book. I mean going through demon attacks, of course, would make anyone whiney but um yeah. I will read the next book in hopes it got better though.

Life back in Lycan Academy is starting to pick up the pace in book 2. There's more action, deaths, secrets uncovered and way more sexual tension for Nora (FMC) from Volkov brothers - Fury, Danger, Roth and Syn. I love the relationship with Nora and the guys. A protective, caring and considerate one and that I think is at the heart of this book. A fabulous book and series

60% - DNF

This installment was so off the mark from the first book, it's hard to believe it was written by the same author. The first book was detailed and had decent world building with a solid foundation for character development. This one? Nora turned out to be whiny and stupid, as in tstl kind of stupid.
*spoilers ahead*
•The first thing I feel like needs mentioning is the Yule dance. Being the first dance, I would think it serves to be momentous enough as her first dance to attend at the school to have its own written scene, but it does not have anything more than a few mentions in retrospect for AJ's sake, her dress and the two boys that were apparently all over her, even though she was complaining no one paid any attention to her.
•The murder, and the supposedly awful social life she should be having based on conversations, but we don't read anything that happens outside the house her boys live in.
•One of the Hellcats died, and the entire student body thinks it was Nora (minus her boys and AJ), but her so called nemesis does not retaliate, at all. They don't give her a hard time or anything.
•There is a girl that somewhat looks like Nora. She sees the girl in the creepy woods, so she does the only logical thing. She follows her, by herself, into the creepy woods, where she was attacked by a demon, in these very woods, thinking to herself it wasn't a good idea, but she goes. BTW, the mystery girl is the same girl that attacked her in the library. I don't know about you, but I don't think I would forget a girl that tried to kill me, growled malevolent threats at me, and scratched up muy crush.
•A book and a half, she's saying she can't choose between the brothers. Instead of talking about what they mean when they first mention the word "mate" or her wolf saying the brothers are theirs, she pushes them away, and gets possessive and mad when girls try to flirt. They start openly calling her "or mate" and yet, she still says, "How am I supposed to choose between them?" Eventually she ignores them when they mention the m word, but says, "and she was ready to settle for a fourth of what I had."

Neh, I'm good. It's not organized, the focus of the plot is all over the place. I am disappointed March didn't spend more time getting this finished. The first book, I couldn't stop reading.

Hard pass

After reading the first book which was interesting this book is so disappointing. The first few chapters don’t make any sense and as the book continues on Nora is constantly pushing the guys away but they are always there when she needs them. It is just an odd way to start off a relationship with these guys. Then the dance made no sense at all. If you make it to the ending be prepared for disappointment. I read the last two pages three times and I still don’t understand why Syn would say what he did as the last sentence of this book. There are some basic spelling and grammar errors and a plot line that really lags in this book.

I really wanted to like this book. The brothers are intriguing and that is the only reason I made it as far into the story as I did, but the girl is just... stupid. She’s whiny and can’t seem to grasp that her life is in danger. Seriously, you see something creeping in the woods so you follow it?
Hmm.
There’s one kind of heroine/hero I can’t stand and it’s the ones that make stupid choices. Mistakes are okay, expected even, but blatantly making a stupid decision to satisfy your curiosity? No thanks.

Nope

I got through 56% of this book and couldn’t finish the rest. The female lead is just too damn whiny and petulant that I couldn’t finish this. She has these teenage meltdowns that I just can’t. She denies the bond with the others and it was annoying having to read the guys talking, it’s broken English mixed with Russian. It just got old.

Nora continous hers studies, but danger is still after her.
To keep her save, she move in with Volkoves Brother. And of course, They use this time to convice her, that being theirs mate isn´t bad thing.

But secrets are to be discovered. Can They overcome this secrets???

I loved it! It was so enticing that I couldn’t put it down, this book grabbed my interest from the very first page. I had to know what happened next. On the fence

I like the action and the mysteries in this story. I also am definitely a fan of the slow burn. It's nice to see the FMC not immediately act on their lust, ESPECIALLY when they are fated mates. Just because there is magic involved, doesn't mean there shouldn't still be a bit of wooing.

The Russian bit is kind of confusing. The guys have been in the US (school and everything) since age 11 but they still mess up sentence structure and with the editing errors it gets confusing quickly.

Also...the ending? REALLY?! This chick really seems like she's 13 sometimes. She's been at this paranormal school for "months", yet she still wonders about fairies and etiquette about asking personal questions about shifters. She's at a LITERAL SCHOOL to learn about this community yet she still knows NOTHING. I really hope book 3 is better...

Lazy and uninspired

First, I understand using poor English grammar for native Russian speakers but it was a bad choice. It pulls you out of the story and I found that I needed to reread half of the story to understand. Also. The bad grammar wasn't just for the brothers. Everyone else was affected by it too.

Second, all the buildup is a let down. You make the demon out to be the big bad but easily defeatable by a brand new Lycan with no experience.

Third, of course she has a shifter dad, a witch mom and a twin. Lazy and uninspiring plot twist.

This series reads like the author just worried about pumping out a series as quickly as possible for revenue without any care about the product they were creating.

The storytelling, writing, and even the plot itself are very lack-luster and predictable. The characters are flat, they just don't seem to have much substance at all. Their backstory, such as it is, is vague at best and certainly not very deep. I felt the storyline went very quickly, while the relationships with her mates were very rushed. If the author can't be bothered to pay attention to these very important details, then why should I want to read their books? Sorry, but I could barely finish the 2nd book.

Hmmm

I’m not sure how to feel about this book. Feels almost like a Simpson episode… I feel the fmc struggled so much with her thoughts. She seems so caring and wants to do right by everyone but when it’s revealed who bit her, she clams up and says the exact opposite of what a mate should say. She forgave her evil twin, who has actually killed people so she could impersonate her but she can’t forgive someone who loves and supports her? I think the book has a ton of potential. I hope she figures out what she wants.

I tried

The story line is not so bad, but the grammar is horrible. The guys are supposed to be Russians, I got that but according to the story they live out of Russia since they were 11, question is how the hell they speak like kids??? I couldn’t read past 30%. Had to skip to review

Full of danger and excitement

This is a great follow-up to the first book of the series. Nora is getting more comfortable with the Bolkov brothers, but then a tragedy happens and she gets blamed for it. Now she’s even more of an outcast at Lycan Academy. And the secrets that come to light at the end of the book...holy smokes!

Its pretty good

This book is good I love the idea of the plot and the characters are great I assume because we just don’t know enough about them to decide. This still felt like it should have been the first draft but not the final product. I will be finishing the series because despite all of this I do like this book a lot, it just needed more to it.

supportive mates

I wished Nora would’ve communicated with her mates. I feel things would’ve gone over smoother. She would’ve been with them more versus thinking of what could’ve been said. I like throughout it all with the separation the mates are still there watching and protecting her. We love supportive mates.

The plot thickens...

We learn more about the escaped girl from the basement. Nora’s family secrets come to light. We learn of betrayal, just as Nora begins to accept her mates, and are left wondering if it will tear them all apart. Oh, and where’s AJ?

This was fine. Its very short so you can't get a great read on what is going on between them all. It needs a little more to really come together I think but for how short it is I did like it.

Curious to see how she ends up acting with the brothers after Syn's reveal.

Builds towards last book, and we finally get to see, meet and understand her sister more, loved the brothers, and the way they cared for their lady.

Okay the over all story line is interesting. But the writing style is a little chaotic. The story line jumps around a lot. Things get missed. Things get completely ignored and never answered in the book. It can get confusing.

Okay so I was right about Syn being the one who bit her. I was not expecting the demon possessed girl to be not only her sister but her twin. Where are her parents? Why did Sela not tell her? Why did Sela seem surprised about Lucan’s if her sister is a witch?
