Different from the others in the series, but interesting. I read the German version of this book.
I do prefer the stories where Felix travels to places in the present, but this was interesting.

I don't know what it is about this children's book, but it feels like this "new age" type of children's book, meaning that it looks to sophisticated and "pretty" for my taste. When I was a kid I was used to my children's books having beautiful illustrations, sure, but not in this modern art style. I still loved the letters in this one, but out of all of my children's books, I feel like this is the one that lacks "heart".

Felix Travels Back in Time is a fantasy book by Anette Langen for children between the ages of 7 and 9. The book follows the adventures of a girl named Sophie's stuffed rabbit, who is named Felix. The rabbit goes back in time to visit six historical periods: the Stone Age, ancient Greece, the Viking era, the Middle Ages, feudal Japan, and North America before the displacement of Native Americans. Felix writes several letters to Sophie throughout the book, which are enclosed in physical envelopes glued to the pages. The book also includes a pull-out poster with all of the places Felix visited.

I give this book a 5-star rating because of its interesting storyline, and most importantly the tactile element of the book. The physical letters add a magical touch to the book and can make the reader feel like they are really receiving these letters from Felix the rabbit. It is also an excellent book for teaching children about various historical periods. This was one of my favorite childhood books, and I still keep it on my bookshelf to this day. I believe that this book was one of the reasons why I developed an interest in history as a child, and would highly recommend it to any child wanting to learn about the past.

Ich bin ja nun grundsätzlich alles andere als ein Kinderbuchleser, doch auf Anraten meiner Gattin, welche sich ein Gespür für das Reine und Gute, das kindlich-ästhetische, trotz aller Widrigkeiten der kalten Realität in Deutschland erhalten hat, hab ich nun ein Felix-Büchlein gelesen. Und fürwahr; ich empfand eine Art Entzückung beim Lesen von Felix' Briefen an seine Sophie, in denen er durchaus kindlich und echt seine Reisen zu allen möglichen Orten der Erde beschreibt.

Ironischerweise besitzt dieses Kinderbuch einen wesentlich lehrreicheren Inhalt selbst für moderne Erwachsene, als es der Löwenanteil der heutigen Romane tun.

Ich fand den ersten Band richtig stark, gemessen mit dem ersten, muss ich diesen Teil anders bewerten.

Wiekt für mich mehr nach Zwang und Abarbeitung, hangelt sich von Brief zu Brief und beim ersten ist es für mich realistischer geflossen. Inhaltlich war jetzt dieses geschichtliche nicht so meins wie das Bereisen der Länder.

Zum Vorlesen für Kinder aber bestimmt genauso super. Inhaltlich bleibt bestimmt auch was hängen, sodass man bestimmt was dabei lernt.

Ich les mal noch paar Teile aus der Reihe. Bockt irgendwie.

This was one of my favorites as a child and I was disappointed as an adult. I love the interactive part of this with the actual pull-out letters and whatnot, but the story itself was terrible. The writing didn't even make sense at some points and was SOOOO random. I was just waiting for the letter parts the entire time. Overall, not a big fan.

Felix travels back in time tells the story of a bear and its owner Sophie. One day Sophie’s class go on a school tour to a history museum and Felix gets lost. Sophie is naturally very upset, however soon Sophie starts getting different letters from Felix from different times as Felix has travelled back in time. Felix sends letters home to Sophie from six different time periods beginning with the Stone Age, other destinations include the world of the ancient Greeks, a Viking town, the Middle Ages, and the Far East, ending with the Native Americans. He then returns safely to Sophie.
This story is a fantastic resource, and a source of inspiration for all teachers. Felix travels back in time is a tale which can be used as a stimulus for topic based teaching, particularly history. A fantastic resource for all primary teachers!

**** 4 stars ****

This is the second book in the series about Felix the rabbit. This time he doesn't travel the world, but travels back in time. I still loved Felix, Sophie and her entire family and the cute letters Felix writes to her, but the story wasn't as engaging as in the first book. Still this is a wonderful book for children around the age of 6. Love that these books are both entertaining and instructive.
