Mr. Tycoon's Daring Wife

Rate this book
"Stay with me and I will give you everything your heart desires. For you, my darling, I would part the mountains, split the sea, and cause havoc on Earth just to have you."

- - - -

In every love story, there's always a vengeful and venomous fiancée who was engaged to the rich and handsome CEO that fell for the poor, but gentle and innocent female lead. In his greed for her love, he broke his poor fiancée whose love drove her to the brink of insanity.

No one ever cared about how the fiancée felt.

Zhao Lifei was prepped her entire life to marry one man, but suddenly, his heart was captured by another. She was face-slapped, destroyed, and disowned for loving Zheng Tianyi. She was willing to sacrifice her youth, time, and heart for the man, but all she got was pain and despair.

It took two harsh, but awakening years for Zhao Lifei to finally understand the mistakes she has made in the past.

After her redemption, it was now Zhao Lifei's turn to experience a love grander than the female lead.

Smarter, feistier, and wittier, Zhao Lifei knew how to survive the cruel, backstabbing, and harsh upper-class society was.

"A bastard fiancé that broke my heart? Screw him, I'll find someone richer!"

"All of my friends have abandoned me? Whatever, I'll find better ones!"

"My parents disowned me? That's fine, my grandfather is wealthier and more powerful than both of them combined!"

To the polar opposite of the snarky Zhao Lifei, was the incredibly wealthy and powerful, yet ruthlessly cold Yang Feng.

Yang Feng, the King of the Business Empire, was a man to be feared. Heart of ice, eyes of stone, merciless but enticingly handsome, there was not a single person in this world that dared to offend him.

Many have tried, but none had succeeded in garnering his attention. That is, until his path unexpectedly collides with Zhao Lifei.

Challenges will arise, chaos will commence, and drama will ensue. But then again, what is a love story without disturbance? They say love without conflict is just a simple crush and the story of Zhao Lifei and Yang Feng was anything but that.

A wonderful discovery in the form of a web novel

If you love a good love story, with a dark past and plenty of hardships to overcome and a thoroughly satisfying ending then this one is a must.

What happens when you live through a horrific trauma? It changes you. There is no other way. You either succumb and die or you get stronger and you live, but you are a different you. And that is what our strong heroine is, she is a changed person who changed for the better, for the stronger and for the smarter. And she kicks as$ (quite literally).

Zhao Lifei has never had a good emotional upbringing but she was raised in wealth and that is what made her conceited and arrogant. When she survived something terrible and managed to work through her trauma and her mistakes, she was built up as a new, improved version of herself. With this still struggling version of herself she meets her destiny in the form of an amazingly hunky and dangerous CEO Yang Feng, oh and by the way, he also rules the shady part of town. When they meet they grow as people - into people whom they are then proud to present to the world. All of that happens with a world of suffering, torture, deaths, humiliation, struggle, kidnappings, resolving their pasts etc. It is a struggle worth going through because it is written in a very compelling and smart way with a dark undertone.

The characters are flawed, as well as they should be. I hate characters that are cookie cutter characters lacking any realism. These characters are flawed, yes.
Zhao Lifei is too stubborn, bottles up her feelings, builds walls around herself and projects things from her past into current situations.
Yang Feng is a bit obsessive and possessive and stubborn as all hell when it comes to things and people he loves.
They both have a dark past and are dealing with their demons. What matters is that they grow, they mature, they lessen their bad characteristics as they spend more time with each other. They help each other.
I see plenty of reviews saying the male lead character is too possessive, he is like this and like that but what they fail to mention is that his first thought is like that yes, but then he is actually much more considerate in his actions albeit still a bit too possessive and then he gets burned by our kickas$ female lead and he learns, and he adapts and he realises he can do better and he does. Isn't that the point? Going through hardships and misunderstandings to actually accomplish something, realise something, grow and mature? I certainly think it is.

The storyline is great, the plot keeps getting more and more complicated and the mystery is compelling and you just want to keep reading and discovering and enjoying the process of getting to that sweet wonderful ending.
The characters are wonderful, flawed and full of battle scars and you care for them every step of the way.
The pacing is also done well, there weren't any long scenes that you'd feel like you wanted to skip or that you'd look later at and say that was completely unnecessary. It all has a meaning, gives clues and ties the loose ends in the end.

One thing that I found quite amusing was the ending itself and no, I won't spoil it. I'll just say that it has more endings than The Lord of the Rings: Return of the King XD I kept thinking my goodness, that is amazing, ah this was so good, so that is how it ends and then you turn another chapter and then there is more, and then another and another and another and in the end I might as well say that no stone was left unturned, everyone's story had a proper ending and kudos to the writer for managing it. Well done.

All in all, it was a wonderful experience and a journey I'd sign myself up for at any time.

En un principio la historia me pareció bastante interesante, pero a medida que avanzaba cada vez se me hacía más repetitivo y había demasiadas escenas de relleno. Me costó mucho acabarlo. Si el libro hubiese tenido la mitad de páginas creo que habría ganado muchísimo.
Los personajes tienen cierto desarrollo pero muy predecible y la trama no es nada nuevo.
En general es un libro que no recomendaría.

This is now seriously considered as my favorite web novel!

The length is great for me. Not too long that it gets a little boring and have to take a break reading it (like those reaching 1000+ to 2000+ chapters, I mean seriously).

Characters were well written, realistic traits in a web novel world but not clichés. The plot is very interesting indeed, and it was deep especially with the twists. The romance of the leads gave me goosebumps and butterflies especially at the rocky beginning, they were just too cute together.

I am happy I got to read this during this time of me devouring web novels after web novels.

p.s. Yang Feng is my dream guy, my Top 1 Male Lead ever!! 😍 [Zhao Lifei is also a favorite Female Lead because she is badass.]

Tycoon’s Daring Wife will always hold a special place on my favorites shelf 💖. Xincerely created such a fun mix of romance, drama, and emotional pull that I can’t help but come back to it from time to time. Each time I'm reminded why I love these characters so much—their chemistry is fiery, their banter is addictive, and the story never loses its charm 🔥✨.

It’s one of those books that feels like comfort and excitement all at once. If you’re into passionate romance with plenty of twists and unforgettable moments, this is definitely one to pick up (and maybe revisit, like I do 😉).

This is the first Webnovel I actually finished and seriously, I truly wish this genre would settle for chapters that don’t go beyond 500. I get that each chapter curries more income for the authors, but repeated plot lines just to extend the story doesn’t make for good reading so I’m glad this one finished relatively “quick” and tidied up ALL the loose endings.

Also, it’s nice to actually read a Webnovel where there was actually character development and the supporting cast was just as entertaining to read. I was able to see character growth and also it was nice to that no one was perfect. In fact, many had horribly glaring flaws which made them all the more human.

I may add, for those who write in this genre, please have an editor or at least SOMEONE look over your work. Using the same adjectives, let alone the same phrases repetitively shows immature writing skills. Also, be weary of your characters being unidimensional, a fault I see in many Webnovels where I can’t bring myself to continue reading. This novel didn’t fall into that conundrum so I was able to read to the end. Sorry that this was less about “Mr. Tycoon” and more about the genre, but I had to vent my frustration on the genre somewhere!

At first hundred less than two hundred chap, i might to give it up. Not because of what, one or two things is bothering me a lot abt ml as it's repeat a few times... But oh well whatever happen in both or all character, i know... The root... Hmm they need to bear a consequence by their parents, ancestors, family that 'teach' how they will behave... I'm glad i read till the end. The only character that make me strong to continue is our FL and qinqin <3 anway still thankful to author that finally put notes abt rt-18 scene... Bloody scene is excluded.. It's really fine xD

Read this if you like modern romance storylines that are not too syrupy with an assertive female lead and a doting CEO-type male lead. Some of the cliche love rivals, useless family members and business competitors can be found.

The main plot line is believable with good dialogue and multiple change of scenery. There are chapters with detailed torture and NSFW scenes. Warnings are given ahead of those chapters.

There is sufficient substance to fill out the 400+ chapters. The story in the extra chapters is cute and finishes out the story well. Worth reading once.

I actually didn't expect find a very interesting and a very entertaining story. I didn't regret reading it the slightest.
Though, I was actually hoping for more chapters. I was expecting for a more thorough glimpse of the side characters.
Especially the General, the FL's best friend, and of course their children.

I WANT A PART 2 if that is possible *wink, wink*

Reading this novel got me so happy & sad for absolutely no reason? I enjoyed this way too much that I reread it 3 times! Its just so comforting to me.
I loved the characters, the pacing, the drama, the action and the romance which was chef’s kiss.
All I can say is that both the fl and ml raised my standards so high.
I love when the mc’s are so beautifully written.

easily my 15th time reading this. i’m obsessed with them…i want a book abt ruqin n qiudong. ugh i love them all.

looking back on this after reading soooo many more books, i realise that maybe yang feng is a little too over possessive and its not my thing. but its ok since its fiction...i still really like the story and this was one of the webnovels that dragged me down the rabbit hole of reading.

this book has me in a chokehold for no reason. i think i've just grown attached to it after becoming obsessed with it years back.

I remember reading this and not thinking too too much before moving one to the next book but rereading it allowed for me to truely take it in. I highlighted sections and phases and just enjoyed my time reading this. I loved the progression of the relationship between Zhao Lifei and Yang Feng. But more than the romance, I found myself loving the growth of Zhao Lifei more this time around. Overall a solid read and may reread again if time permits since this is a thick book.
