This text is written as a monograph on Navaho ceremonials, including myths, sand-paintings and chants. This book seems to have been written with the intent of honoring and preserving ancient Navaho ceremonialism. Artifacts described in text are held at the Museum of Navaho Ceremonial Art as record of Navaho heritage.

I am not well versed on Navaho affairs, and as such, I read this text with much-combined respect and curiosity. With that being said, the whys behind these sacred traditions are not explained in text. Rather, specific details are described for the reader as to what occurs throughout the great works surrounding Red Antway tradition.

One opinion I have relates to the illustrations at the rear of the text. A majority of the illustrations are in black and white, and this makes pinpointing certain symbols within the illustration difficult, especially as color is an integral part of the Red Antway Ceremony. Some pictures were implemented in color - which adds a lot of value for the reader.
