Ella Rivers hasn't been okay since the day her mother died.

One wintry night, lost in grief, Ella goes for a long, cold walk. It's three o'clock in the morning, and she decides to duck into a gas station to get warm, and perhaps buy a cup of tea. But when the power cuts out, Ella's life is changed forever.

Because, that night, she should have died. And she would have, were it not for the mysterious, white-haired woman who saves her life: Silver.

Silver is more intriguing—and attractive—than any woman Ella's ever known. She insists that she knew Ella's mother, and that she can help Ella find out “who she really is.” But, while Ella is deeply attracted to Silver, how can she possibly believe what Silver says?

After all, there's no such thing as werewolves.

Ella's life is in danger, and the woman who holds the key to her survival is as mysterious as she is intense. Ella can't predict what's going to happen next... All she knows is that this gorgeous, wild woman might just change her destiny...

My name is Bridget Essex, and I write about werewolves, vampires and lady knights; about two strong, courageous women who fall deeply in love with one another, living love stories that transcend time. I'm married to the love of my life, author Natalie Vivien.

I'm best known for my Knight Legends series, stories about women knights, real world hi-jinks and love stories that are out of this world. My Sullivan Vampire novellas are a popular series lauded as "TWILIGHT for women who love women," and I have several other series and stand-alone novellas, and I'm always putting out something new. While I enjoy Ms. Essex's books this one was not one of her better stories, at least for me. The internal dialogue or stream of consciences was a bit much. It distracted from the storytelling. Interesting concept though and made for a quick read. I will recommend it for that and I still like the author's work, just not this one in particular.

Normally, I love this author but this book just didn't do it for me. Yes, there's a gorgeous she wolf, yes there's angst. Although I had a hard time connecting with the major MC, & most of the minor mcs were classic caricatures. Others may not feel the same, but for me I could only rate this 2.5 stars.

Overall, I really liked this book. The characters were solid. My only criticism is that I thought it was too short for the romance to really be developed.

Confused werewolves find love

This is a novel devoted readers and those new to Bridget Essex's werewolf series will love. Someone tried to kill her sounds like the start of a mystery novel not a romance novel. Her mother never told her she was a werewolf (or even that they exist) and blocked her from shifting. Escaping from vampi assassins, an evil grandmother round out the cast. This is a nice novel that could've been longer to flesh out the characters and the plot. But a great read during lockdown in the pandemic or for travel it requires imagination . Spoiler there is an HEA

Wild Hearts

What a brilliant story told by Ella a human who doesn't know that she is a werewolf. She taken a walk when she is attacked, but is saved by a wolf who changes afterwards in to a naked human and explains she has been sent to protect her and her name is Silver. Now the story is told by Ella and how she learns about her heritage. She is been hunted by vampires and werewolves for her heart. She meets her aunt Fanny who is the sister of the Alpha Maria. This is well worth reading as it's different to other werewolves and vampire stories.
Bridget Essex did an excellent job writing this so check it out.
Highly recommend this and well deserved 5 *** "STARS.

Another great read

Bridget has done it again! I love all of her books, and this is another hit. Silver is the sexy stranger that saves Ella’s life. She is sexy and quite literally a lifesaver. She has been sent to save Ella and bring her to the pack, because much to Ella’s surprise she’s a werewolf. Buy the book, you will not be disappointed! The writing is excellent as always and the characters are amazing. Even if you think werewolves aren’t your thing, the love story is enough to make you want to read it. Nobody does sexy, supernatural as good!

Powerful

A well written novel of two strong women who are good and share their light together to defeat evil forces. The characters were well developed as was the plot. A very good read that knotted my innards when their lives became entrenched in the war of good versus evil. I love the gift of this book by an author that is new to me. I look forward to reading more of her works. I enthusiastically and unequivocally recommend this book and any others of hers. Thank you. Peace

Big fan of the author, this felt a little drawn out though.

I love this author's books! That said, this one was a little forced. I loved the storyline, it hit all the beats for adventure and romance. I love ed the characters and spending time with them! I felt that some of the internal dialogue was too clipped, though. Maybe it would have worked better as a third person point if view to keep up the mystery.

I do still recommend, though. It was fun and suspenseful at the same time.

A mother's wish to keep her daughter normal!

Unfortunately for our hero the mother died before she was able tell her daughter why she ran from home when she was pregnant with our her. Suddenly finding out she has someone watching over her for whatever reason is the story that unfolds. Enjoy!

I liked the story though the ending fell short of my expectations for what I've come to expect from Bridget. It felt rushed and there was little explanation to the motivation behind the actions of the antagonist. It left me feeling a bit disappointed especially since the actions of the love interest was explained.

A Marvelous Tale
Essex has the gift of drawing the reader in by stimulating all five senses, thus immersing them in the story to be carried away by the tale. Wild Hearts is no exception in its telling of broken hearts unbound by love to save each other.

Good but expected more...

It is definitely interesting story, however I feel like I expected more from it. The surprise was twisted I have to say but there is some depth that was missing. Overal good story.

I really like the new take on the struggle of an ordinary woman thrust into a suddenly supernatural life. I would love to read a sequel to this story.

I'm just a sucker for these, what can I say. I like how Essex uses werewolf tropes to explore dyfunctional families. An atmospheric, moody thriller that's perfect for a cold, dark night.

A shifter romance, my favorite! A women is dealing with the death of her mother, and that’s just the beginning. Story starts out a little slow but it moves along to a tale of family betrayal, paranormal gifts, and a much needed love. Essex is one of my go to authors and I’m never disappointed.
