Judgment walked into a bar…

Sounds cliche, right? Yet, Seth was Judgment when he walked into Sinner’s for one purpose—keep an eye on his fallen brothers Zhan and Tarus. Only, what he found was the object of his brothers’ attention, a beautiful woman whose dark destiny loomed over her like a shadow ready to snuff out her light.

He’s wanted his brothers back for endless centuries, but they will not be moved. Yet something about this woman moves them and for the first time in his existence, Seth gives in to impulse.

Fate is not kind…

All I’ve ever wanted was to do the right thing. To show compassion to others. To take care of them. Yet, no matter what I’ve done, I end up here at the base of a set of stairs after a punishing fall threatens to rob me of my life. Trapped in my broken body, I lay at the feet of an angel.

I almost died. I say almost because a moment before my last breath, Judgment found me. I don’t know what he saw in me but with one kiss, he changed me irrevocably. So I’ll help him extract punishment on his brothers for a chance to live even a short bit longer.

They better be ready for me, because I plan to make the most of this second life, no matter how short it is.

*Please note this is a reverse harem and the authors suggests you always read the forward in their books. Warning, this is a standalone tale with a fierce and feisty heroine, three heroes who are forces of nature, and a tale as old as time, humor, and a little bit of karmic justice thrown in.

I love books. Not just a little bit, but a lot. Books were my best friends when I was growing up. Books didn’t care if I was new to a town or to a class. They were always there, my trustiest of companions. Until they turned on me and said I had to write them.

I can tell you that my own personal happily ever after included writing books. I’ve always said that an HEA is a work in progress. It’s true in my marriage, my friendships, and in my career. I am constantly nurturing my muse as we dive into new tales, new tropes, new characters and more.

After seventeen years back in Texas, we relocated to the Pacific Northwest in search of seasons, new experiences, and new geography. I can’t wait to discover what life (and my muse) have in store for me.

Maybe writing was always my destiny and romance my fate. After all, my grandmother wasn’t a fan of picture books and used to read me her Harlequin Romance novels.

Friends to lovers, enemies to lovers, friends to enemies to lovers, you name it, I love them and love to write them. I started with Earth Witches Aren’t Easy, the first in the Chance Monroe trilogy, but my characters and I have traveled a long way since I created that urban fantasy world.

One of the series I hear my readers recommend the most is the Untouchable series followed in quick succession by the Vandals, and that just delights me. No lie, whenever one of my readers brings up my wolves, I do a little a fist pump.

I’m active on social media, and I love hearing from readers. Feel free to tag me with a question about any of my books, or just say hi!

Kiss of Fate is an incredible RH that builds to an explosive climax. The authors have built a vivid world and filled it with enigmatic creatures. Our heroine is more complex than she appears and our heroes are everything you could wish for in a flawed male. This story is filled with angst, humor and the power of positivity. Simply a fantastic read.

I'm trying to gather my thoughts on this.
description

First of all, we're all just going to ignore the fact that Dahlia's personality did a 180 after she died because it literally happened within the first 10 pages. 'Kay? 'Kay.

For a Kindle Unlimited read.. this was impressive. For a reverse harem KU read.. this was damn impressive. Most RH's on KU are so god awful. This sucker was 482 pages. For KU... that may as well be an encyclopedia. So. As far as getting your bang for your buck and comparing it to the average KU read... this was a good book.

The concept of this book it very unique and I enjoyed it. It kinda reminded me of Karma by Donna Augustine? The first half of this book was intriguing and the chemistry was off the charts. The second half had its slow parts.

My one true critique was the ending. It didn't make sense... to me.

This was a nice change of pace from most of the RH that I’ve been reading. This was such a sweet romance. Dahlia was truly dealt the short end of the straw in life. It hasn’t been good to her. She managed to capture the attention of several angels before she dies. This temporarily extends her life giving her some more time. During this time she repairs their relationships with each other and they end up falling in love with Dahlia. This was an amazingly sweet story but does definitely have some hot hot hot scenes. Loved this book. Maybe we’ll get to see more from Sin, Bish and Karmen. The authors did a fantastic job writing this story and the plot was truly amazing. This is a must read!

No spoilers. Simply, Dahlia is having a REALLY bad day… Her loser of a boyfriend is about to give her the ultimate “gift” and she will run straight into angels? The Fates? Gods?? Keepers??? It was fun reading to try to figure it all out.

As the story unfolds, “Judgement” intervenes, on Dahlia’s behalf. He believes he can “use” her to help bring his brothers – Punishment and Justice – back into reality, a reality where they participate in their destinies and our lives, as we mere mortals know it.

The authors are upfront about this story being a reverse harem so remember this going in. I adored how Dahlia brought these…Fates…to hell and helped them heal their issues. She gave them a reason to “live”. It is a smexy, hawt, and sometimes downright dirty story. But it has a ton of love and tenderness AND sexy times. Totally enjoyed; just know this book has a ton of heat. Loved it!

This book is absolutely amazing! It really has everything you could want. Sexy "angels", a hilarious FMC, all the feels, AND it's a loooong standalone (Oh yeah, I like big books and I cannot lie). Its refreshingly unique, the plot and characters are unlike anything I've read before. The progression of the relationships between Dahlia and her men took me on an emotional journey. I couldn't help but feel everything they were going through and rode the emotional rollercoaster with them. I laughed until I cried and cried until I was laughing again. I think my favorite parts were the little Dahlia-isms (quotes) at the beginning of each chapter. They never failed to make me smile.
Blake Blessing and Heather Long are both incredible authors on their own, but together they are a dream team!! They really smashed this one out of the park! Highly recommend this book!!

Holy Hotness

A series of unfortunate events brings Dahlia to the brink of death. An unexpected encounter gives her the opportunity to extend her life for a short period of time, there's only one condition... Dahlia is thrown into a world of supernatural beings she wasn't aware of and tries to make the best of the time she has left. This book was sweet, angsty, hot and so so good! I loved the world building and the characters. Dahlia was fun and the chemistry with her men was off the charts!

Sexy "angels" coming up

Okay, first of all, Seth is mine. He is one yummy "viking" angel boy! His jealousy is hot and I would love to see what he looks like to the authors' eyes. The story was wholesome and sexy. I loved the storyline!

Le sigh.... This was so sweet. And hot. But super sweet. Dahlia has been dealt a crappy hand in life, but she manages to catch the eye of several angels before she dies an early death. Temporarily extending her life, giving her just a bit more time, the angels repair their relationships and fall in love with Dahlia. Here’s hoping Karmen, Bish, and Sin get their own happily ever after. 💜

Let's start off by saying that this book is massive! Which is AWESOME! I love big books. This did take me a minute to get into but I think that was more about me than the book. Once I got into it, I was definitely invested.

Dahlia is one of those characters that you just can't help but love. She hasn't had the best run in life but she's made the best out of it. She truly is a pure and sweet person. So it's tragic when her POS boyfriend leaves her for dead. Lucky for her, she had drawn the attention of several "not angels". Judgement steps in at the last moment and makes a decision that will change everything. Dahlia has a temporary reprieve from death and just needs to do one little favor for Judgement. Seems he has some family troubles of his own and poor Dahlia gets thrown right in the middle. Justice and Punishment have been floating through life, just making do, until Dahlia catches their attention. Even after all their time on Earth, they have no clue how to handle her and the feelings she evokes in them.

I think this book had everything you could possibly want. Dahlia has a great sense of humor and I was cracking up at some of the things she said. There are plenty of adventures throughout the book. There are some seriously sweet moments and there are some hot sexy times as well. Now if you've been following my reviews for any length of time then you know it's hard to make me cry. This book had me really tearing up at one point. I'm a total sucker for the type of thing that happens at the end (ha, no spoilers) so it got me.

These two authors did a fantastic job with this book. Their writing merged together flawlessly and kept the story flowing all the way through. They really brought the characters to life. Even the side characters. We get a sense that there is more to some of the other characters and I'm really intrigued by them. So much so that I had to ask Heather if we would get more! And she said....YES!! Taste of Karma is their next project. Maybe they will do a series of standalones. So that means if you enjoy this book you definitely need to leave a review so they know and continue writing these amazing characters.

Overall this was a decent book. I liked the concept, and the ideas of keepers were pretty unique, even though it didn’t really suck me in as much as some of the other books i’ve read. I kept taking breaks from it and scrolling through social media, so there were definitely moments that didn’t hold my attention.

At times the story seemed to drag on, and I probably would’ve liked it more if the book was just a little bit shorter and there weren’t so many pages that seemed unnecessary and didn’t really contribute to the plot. There also seemed to be almost too many sex scenes, especially for a standalone.

While this book was well written and it’s easy to see that there are others who probably loved this book, and couldn’t put it down, in my opinion the main male characters weren’t anything special or anything I haven’t seen before. Nevertheless, I loved the character development present with all of the brothers individually and how their familial relationship repaired itself throughout the book.

What really made this book standout to me though, was the FMC Dalia. I LOVED her personality and her little quirks. She was a very genuine person, and she had a backbone and a moral compass that was really enjoyable to read. She also showed some real unconditional love and kindness towards her men, friends, and almost everyone she came into contact with. She was also TOO forgiving at times, if that makes sense, but it only endeared her to me. A lot of times in this genre, the girl is either super naive and innocent or very obviously tough or ‘Badass’. Dalia had a really quiet, understated kind of internal strength that was really amazing to see, and she had a really fun sense of humour and optimism.

I would recommend the read, but it wasn’t my favorite and I probably won’t do a reread of it anytime soon. I would be interested to see if they give Karmen a story.

All in all, if you’re wondering if you should try it out, let this be your sign that it is definitely worth a try.

You know when they said ‘this has disaster written all over it’? They meant me walking into this bar… - Dahlia

Characters: I liked the main characters as well as the secondary characters, aka, the other Keepers.

Plot: Interesting, but rather simple. The only real non-romance related conflict/issue to be resolved is Dahlia’s impending final death.

Pacing: This definitely started to drag around 60%. The repetition [Dahlia living her best life, sex, coma-esque sleep, more sex] grew tedious.

Writing: I’m not saying I need the author to spell everything out for me in order to understand what’s going on, but in this case there were a few instances where the author(s) implied something significant and I wasn’t sure if I was picking up what they were putting down.

When they lost her, the world was going to end.

There would be no more light.

Only darkness

After chasing all the sunrises, now he wanted to hold them off.

Forever.

This book has some seriously awesome world building. As the book opens we meet some of the major players in this book beginning with Seth (Judgement) and Karmen (Karma). A scene is playing out here involving Seth's brothers Tarus (Punishment) and Zhan (Justice). Tarus and Zhan have fallen, they don't do their jobs anymore which in turn has stymied Seth. Without Justice how can Judgement pronounce verdicts and assign punishments. Sinner's is the bar where the Keepers hang out and humans also come to drink and dance the night away.

Tonight things are going to take a very interesting twist as Dahlia and her boyfriend Alex argue in Sinners and in spite of an offer from a friend to follow, she leaves with him.

Even though they appeared very interested in Dahlia his two brothers turn away after she leaves. Seth decides it's time for his brother's to face their failures and follows Dahlia. Dahlia is a good person who is always helping people, even ones that she couldn't really help. She doesn't deserve what is happening to her but Seth is powerless to stop it without his brothers.

As Dahlia is dying he offers her a month of life if she agrees to help him with his brothers.

The deal made, rest and shopping later, an irritated Seth sends her to attract his brothers.

I have to say as these brothers fall for Dahlia, I spent some time wondering about each of the other characters we meet, trying to figure out who they actually are.

This book had my attention from the beginning and I love the way things play out. Plenty of problems to be overcome, some interesting battles, intriguing surprises and sizzling heat is an understatement.

While I read everything Heather Long publishes, I confess I haven't read any of Blake Blessing's books but I will definitely be doing so now.

I want more

This is a stand alone novel, and I truly wish it was not. There are some characters that need their story told and HEA, such as Bish, Karmen and more. I liked the premise of the keeper, that each keeper had a grace. Their job was to handle humanities grace, such as judgement. The keeper would judge the soul and then others liked punishment and/or justice joined in. In this instance, punishment and justice decided to no longer assist humanity and their brother, judgement, wanted them to come back and do their jobs. Dahlia loses her life and it is the wake up call for them.

I had read, succubus chained, by this author in the paranormal prison series, and I decided to try another of her books. I am glad I did. First, you must read the paranormal prison series (a group of authors for together to write books in this series), it is arm awesome series, and it lets you try news authors. Like in this case, I would have never found this book because I was unfamiliar with the author, but since I liked her succubus book, I decided to look her up. I am super happy I did because this was a great book, and I truly hope she turns this novel into a series.

❝︎𝘼𝙣𝙮𝙬𝙝𝙚𝙧𝙚 𝙮𝙤𝙪 𝙬𝙖𝙣𝙩. 𝙁𝙤𝙧𝙚𝙫𝙚𝙧.❞

this book, i don't even know where to start. this book literally started off with a bang. the emotions i felt during this, damn.

dahlia is nothing like the normal female mc's you would find in a book. she's strong, she's fierce, she's a little crazy and laughs at her own jokes which is the cutest damn thing ever.

seth, tarus and zhan, aka judgement, punishment and justice are like no other male mc's—trust me on this one. they have the purest hearts and are fiercely protective of what is theirs, especially dahlia. they're possessive, dirty-talking assholes and you'd think that'd be difficult to 'share' dahlia, couldn't be further from the truth.

i love, love, love this book so much. it has a unique storyline that i haven't seen before with a plot twist that's easy to see from miles ahead and you'll still be left feeling the thousand and one emotions as if you didn't know it was coming in the first place.

if you like fallen angels, reverse-harem, possessive men with promises that will turn you into a pile of goo and a strong female lead that will have giggling along with her, then i highly recommend this book to you.

highly recommend it and would definitely re-read.

Idioms are what we idiots tell ourselves to make us feel better.
They're all lies.
Truth sets you free. Ha.
Justice is blind. Hardly.
Life ends when you die. Wrong!
All’s fair in love and war. Fine. I’ll give you that one.
But you’d be wise to remember Fate isn’t fair, kind, or gentle.

How do I know?

I almost died. I say almost because a moment before my last breath, Judgment found me. I don’t know what he saw in me but with one kiss, he changed me irrevocably.

My name is Dahlia. I am fate.
No, I am definitely not fair.

If you read books then you will totally understand me when i say this is a book where you go "no no no....ohhh yes....what...no...yes....cursing a character....ohhhhh he is so sweet....no no no...yes!"

well that are some of the reactions this book creates...lots of yes's lots of noooooooo's lots of cursing and loving the characters with their flaws and errors.
This book is new and fresh and so frustrating with its male main characters!
lovely world building and amazing descriptions.
The emotional joy ride is inevitable and as you go down down down the rabbit hole you will love every single minute of it!

When I started Kiss of Fate I had no idea what was going on. You get a vague idea of what’s happening, but it isn’t until the 40 % mark that you really feel like you know what this book is about. In the beginning it annoyed me greatly. I didn’t know who was good or evil and where the book was going, but I also see this as a positive thing as it keeps readers guessing.

The book is about angels or keepers as they like to be called. We meet Dahlia who in the beginning seemed meek and weak and who is in an abusive relationship. That is until Judgement intervenes and Dahlia becomes a whole other person in a lot of ways. Judgement wants her help in punishing his brothers; Justice and Punishment. Along the way we get to meet some side characters and see a thousands of years old relationship get mended.

The book is a paranormal RH book, with the proper and old-school Seth, the sensitive Zhan and Tarus the wild child. It has POV from both Dahlia, Seth, Zhan and Tarus. This was a massive book, but a well written and good read.

I hope to see more of Bish, Karmen and Kindle in future books.

This book has utterly amazing world building and character development, in all honesty I wouldn't expect any less from Heather and Blake.

Dahlia is a one of a kind soul who always tries to help others even when they are really beyond it, she is fiesty and sarky to boot. As a result she has attracted the attention of the Keepers who all seem to converge on Sinners bar. She is unknowingly pulled into a game of fate steared by Karma of which she is not the only unsuspecting player.

As one fateful night takes a truly dark turn for Dahlia, at the hands of her boyfriend Alex, the game begins with far reaching consequences that cwill hange multiple lives, for better or worse that remains to be seen.

One month is the term, can Dahlia help remind those who have fallen of their true virtue and reason for existing? Can she do what no one else has done before whilst navigating a new for reaching supernatural World.

You are immersed in Dahila's journey as she traverses this new world and is assaulted by emotions and feelings she never expected.

Once you start you will not want to put this book down, it is everything you'd want it to be and more

"I’ve always wondered if a ‘necessary evil’ was just something you really wanted to do and it was bad. Like, how bad I wanted to do these guys, that would be bad. So bad. Did that make them necessary evils? Asking for a friend. The friend who is me." - Dahlia

* * * * *

On the night of her murder, Dahlia catches the attention of "NOT ANGELS" Justice and Punishment, who shun their grace and fail to help her, only to be offered a deal by Judgement himself in a moment of desperation.

This book was beautiful and unique but what caught me off guard and sucked me in for good was that it was SO FLIPPING FUNNY (and steamy)! Dahlia is absolutely hilarious, but this story has some of the most beautiful "bucket list" scenes I've read to date! I may or may not have teared up at those. I admit nothing.

I see now why Elisabeth from @untouchablebooks was shouting this book's praises from the rooftops - I ADORED IT and I would love to see more from The Sinner's Keepers world! SO GOOD!

Dahlia just grabs you by the heart and doesn't let go. She has had a crappy life with her even crappier boyfriend. She has a heart of gold which he just keeps taking advantage of! But when he steps onto the dark side and leaves her for dead she is found by some very badass angels!

If she can help out Judgement to get his brothers in line then Dahlia might get a 2nd chance at life. But Justice and Punishment are not going to be an easy sell - Dahlia however, may just be the glue they need to seal this little family together.

Crack you up dialogue and brilliant little Dahlia-isms will make you chuckle. Plenty of hot, hot passion and adventures.

You cannot tell that there are two authors involved, the writing does not jolt from one writing style to another which makes it easier to read and enjoy. Gimme more!

A sweet hot mixture of RH, angels, death mythology and all that comes in between.

Dahlia has not had the best of luck in love. In fact her boyfriend kills her. It is with the help of an angel she lives for a little longer to help him with his brothers. You see it is hard for Judgment (Seth) to do his job if Justice and Punishment (Tarus and Zhan) aren't doing theirs. Seth saves Dahlia so she can help bring them back to do their duty. Little did he know that he and his brothers would all fall for her and what they would do to be able to keep her.

Really a great read and Dahlia, despite my initial thought of her smarts, is a feisty quick thinking, very perceptive woman. There is a mixture of humor, high emotion and enough steamy fun thrown in that will keep you glued to the pages.

Death for Dahlia (FMC) brings its own complications. Namely in the form of Angels (or not Angels lol) Seth, Zhan and Tarus who all have a habit of Dahlia-napping her lol. Which lead to scenarios that are both funny and steamy. Some are just plain hot as hell!! These four characters together make for great reading and at points they also bring on the feels with a few tears too. Ah Bish??? I felt for him so much but with that ending could we be seeing more of him, Karmen & Cypher? Fingers crossed that might happen. I really liked Bish and Karmen. Still this book was a totally great read. Just loved It!

Kiss of Fate

Definitely not your normal RH book. Keepers justice and vengeance that have abandoned their roles for many many years fail to do their job which in turn leads up to her preventable death. The brother Judgment follows her witnesses and tries to do something, that something was to share his grace with her. He bargained for her to get back at his brother's and for her murdering boyfriend to get justice. So much happened, you think one thing its completely something else. This book definitely had me guessing until the end. Very good book. I wish she kept Bish too!

I found this story to be a truly engrossing read and the world building was quite interesting as well. This is a reverse harem storyline with the main characters being Dahlia, an innocent and down on her luck heroine. Then there is the loser boyfriend and Karma as well as the other 3 main characters, the Fates: Judgement, Justice and Punishment. Will they step in and do their job by intervening on behalf of the heroine or is Dahlia about to have the ultimate worst day ever? Check it out to see. There are plenty of challenges and twists and turns as well as a bit of humor along the way. As this is a reverse harem there are plenty of sexy encounters as well. All in all a very good read.

Heather and Blake do such a great job building a unique world where Keepers watch over humanity. Judgement, Punishment, and Justice are 3 brothers, two of whom are struggling both with who they are and decisions they've made, while the other is angry and hurt that the other two left him. Enter Dahlia, she is sweet, sassy, and so funny! Life has not been kind to her but she has been a light through it all. When events happen that bring the brothers into her life she uses her time to bring them together. Dahlia helps them see a different side to their grace. It's fate!

This is a reverse harem story with a HEA. I'm looking forward to more from the Keeper world!

Oh dear! Heather said she loved writing this book so much because of the snarky FMC. She is pretty awesome indeed! I had this book on my list to read like forever and finally caved after her last live on her page. The book now has pretty new covers in case you didn't notice. I love the new covers so much. There is one thing a bit different because usually we read books in first person but when reading the guys POV we get to read in third person but that is a minor thing and doesn't take away how awesome this book is. Dahlia is refreshing and the take on angels is done really good! I enjoyed reading this one so much and highly recommend it.

One of the best reads of 2022...

Wow, what an emotional read. I loved every word.
These 'not angels' Keepers of Judgement, Punishment and Justice swept in with their angelic wings and whisked me away to Daman. They are charming possessive alphaholeness glorified and I love them. They are an absolute favourite.
The FMC with her giggling at inappropriate times were so relatable. I truly enjoyed reading her whirlwind romance.
Wonderful side characters that ensured a page turning experience.
An absolute must-read for those who what panty twisting sexiness of beautiful 'not angels ' Angels.

Stephannie's 5 Star Review:

I had no idea what I was getting into when I started reading this book. I love many of the books both of these authors have written in the past. Plus it's a Reverse Harlem and I love those types of books. So I quickly realized that it was a fantasy book. I really loved this one. I really love Dahlia and her angels? keepers? hot men? They were all great characters. I really enjoyed trying to figure out everything. The book keeps you in the dark for a while and has you guessing what is going to happen next. What is Dahlia's fate? I love this collaboration between Heather Long and Blake Blessing. The world they created is outstanding and the keepers are intriguing.

Dahlia life hasn’t been the best but she makes do. A night out at a bar takes a turn for the worse when her boyfriend leaves her for dead. Luckily for Dahlia, a last second judgement call gives her a temporary reprieve on life in exchange for a favor.

This story is absolutely fantastic! I loved Dahlia and her men. It’s steamy, humorous, and gives you all the feels. Another great book to add to your TBR list.

Dahlia and her angels(not angels)

This was an interesting story about how their could be other beings working to ensure judgement, justice, karma and more are decided. Dahlia is a light in a world where she’s been shown the evil of a man. It’s only upon her death that she starts to truly live and enjoys a few men while she’s at it.

You can’t tell where one author wrote vs the other. Very cohesive and a good story.
