Fall, the season facing down the Master and Queen Match Preliminaries. The Yoshino Club Tournament has finally been narrowed down to the top 8, and four members of the Shiranami Club remain, including both Chihaya and Taichi. Waiting for them are players such as Arata, who has come from Fukui, and Sudo from Houkou. Chihaya is matched up against Inokuma, a former queen who uses as weapons her good ears and unique placements. Will Chihaya be able to attack this opponent with a solid defense? The firm wills of these players who seek greater heights give rise to unexpected twists and turns.

We always knew that eventually Mashima and Chihaya would actually face each other in a professional sanctioned match but man the lead up to it was kind of lame. These matches in the tournament have been fast/lacking in impact, even if we got to see a former Queen in action. Also Arata losing to such a minor character was lame after he just beat the current Queen

You know how the side characters are commenting on how intense the quarter-finals are? You can asoutely feel it while reading.
And it's finally hapening! It only took us 19 volumes to see these two meet in an official match.

The tension is so well done. We're mostly focusing on a competition and it's so well-paced and exciting. It ended with a massive cliffhanger, which I usually hate, but it kinda worked here. It didn't feel forced at all and I really wish I had the next
