Her Irish Inheritance

Rate this book

Have you ever wanted to press the ‘Escape’ button on your life?

Nothing is going right for Caroline Egan. Her partner has left and she’s lost her job. The only thing that remains is a piece of property three thousand miles away. Her plan is to sell the place and use the money to move on with her life. But the house needs some work and she ends up staying in Ireland much longer than she anticipated. Soon, she’s torn between the plans she has for her life and her growing attraction for both the property and the carpenter fixing it up.

Patrick Kelly is all too familiar with loss. A single parent, he’s trying to raise his young daughters as best as he can. When he lands work at a nearby cottage, he’s grateful until he discovers who the new owner is. But as time goes on, Patrick begins to wonder if Caroline holds the key to him moving on with his life.

Both cannot deny their attraction for one another. Both are cautious. There’s an ocean between them as well as hearts that have been broken in the past. Can they overcome insurmountable odds for a chance at happiness?

Each book in the Escape to Ireland series is a standalone novel and can be read in any order.

My Irish Inheritance #3 - I enjoyed both books that I have read by this author. Sweet, clean romances without the common stupidity formula so common nowadays. The storylines are interesting as well as the realistic characters and their dialogue. The journey this couple takes has up and downs but the trip is worth reading. This is a good get away from it all story and very relaxing. I contacted the author to review her books and received this book through Booksprout. 4*

Her Fake, Irish Husband #2 – It’s OK, not my typical reading material but it is set in Ireland, enuff said. This is my first read by this author and I enjoyed the book.

The storylines are well written and interesting. The characters are likeable and realistic, and their dialogues believable. Humor dances throughout the pages.

The descriptions of the manor, the village and Ireland are so clear; it is like being there in person. This is a feel good read and I hope to read the rest of the series. I did have a problem with the over use of the earl, which should have been the Earl; it felt like name-dropping. 4*

Ms. Brouder is one of my few authors of choice for sweet romances. I love the fact that she tells an interesting story without the Stupidity Formula that so many romance authors use in their ridiculous books. The characters are good people who act like grown ups instead of idiots who cannot communicate and are always negative in their thoughts. See each book for my complete review.

Escape to Ireland Series:
A Match Made in Ireland, #1 - This must be my favorite story so far but I have enjoyed all that I have read by this author. Of course, I enjoy the Irish setting, the good dialog and the sweet romance. 5*

Her Irish Inheritance, #3 - Maeve knew what she was doing when she left her home to her nurse. A sweet, well written romance with loveable characters, interesting story lines and set in Ireland. Caroline knew she was starting a new life after her divorce and discovering a new life she did. 5*

A Match for the Matchmaker, #4 - It happened. The first time a character by this author was stupid. Sadly, she is joined by him in that department making a pair of eejits. But the rest of the story is funny, entertaining and full of interesting events and characters. 4*

Home, Sweet Irish Home, #5 - A wonderfully sweet, happy story with loveable characters and good story lines. The Yank is too good to be true but he is at that. A good range of emotions, especially when a terrible event happens. Love is everywhere. 5*

An Irish Christmas, #6 - I saved this book for Christmas day. It was a lovely addition to a lovely day. The 84-yo grannies were the perfect partners in crime setting up their grandchildren. They claimed they were not matchmaking. Yeah, right. Full of fun and love, even with the anger. 5*

Her Great Irish Escape - A fun, sweet story that is hard to put down, luckily it was easy to read with bits of Ireland's local life mixed with the tour bits. 5*
Escape to Ireland Series end.

A Whyte Christmas - A funny, sweet way to spend the night, a written Hallmark. 5*

Escape to Hideaway Bay - Another interesting and fun filled second chance in the making story. 4*

Snowed in at Christmas - An enjoyable, sweet start of a romance between two people with a bit of luggage each. 5*

What I think I like best about this book is the total lack of drama. The most amount of drama is when Caroline accidentally runs over Patrick's paddleboard.

In this story, Caroline, who is a hospice nurse, is willed a property in Inch Ireland. There is a lot more going on with the reasons and things going on in Caroline's life, but the property is the most important thing. So she goes to see the property before she sells it. Which, going and seeing a property in Ireland is like naming a stray animal, you are going to get attached.

So she goes, and she, as said before, accidentally wrecks into Patrick. Patrick is a widower with two young daughters. He lost his wife tragically and has never moved on. He sees his every move as monumental because he is all his little girls have. Exactly the kind of Dad that every kid should have.

So obviously Patrick and Caroline don't start off on the right foot. As fate would have it, Patrick is the one suggested to help her fix up her house. They bicker a bit at first. Obviously, fighting a strong chemistry.

Then Caroline comes upon him and his daughters on the beach, and they fly a kite together, which makes Caroline see that maybe she could be okay with kids. Then something happens to Patrick 's mom, and Caroline comes to the rescue. Every pebble seems small, but they are laying a foundation. The two of them are crazy attracted, but her "life" is in America.

Like I said, no big anxiety filled drama pulls them apart. Only the honest real-world issues. Caroline faces them like a thinking adult and makes the best decision for her heart and mind.

The ending is sweet and puts a heavy period on any question that the reader might be wondering. It doesn't take blood to make a family, and no one has to replace anyone's mother or father.

Heartwarming book

Yes, I sure wanted to press that escape button on my life many a time! Books are that escape for me, and this sure was a great book to escape with! Some of the issues in the book were ones that really hit home. I really bonded with Caroline, as well as with Patrick. And I am in love with Ireland, so any book set in Ireland already has a plus in my eyes! But that wasn’t the only good thing about the book, it was also well written, well plotted, in a heartwarming way. And I loved the epilogue too, I always love when a story is wrapped up well, and I can see into their future. Compelling book!

Sweet and endearing!

Michele Brouder is such a talented storyteller. I loved the relationship MMC/Patrick had with his little girls, it was real and genuine. He comes off as grumpy, but he's really a caring man who is trying to do what's best for his girls while living with the grief of losing his wife. The FMC/Caroline really had a find herself story here, and it was something she never thought was in the cards for her. The daughters were so sweet, often children are written in as being moody or overly advanced, and these were just sweet children. Other than some kisses this was a very sweet and clean romance.

My favorite so far

This is the third book in this series and my favorite so far. Each story is different and they flow so easily. Michele Brouder knows how to write. I loved the descriptions of Inch, Ireland, the green hills and the beaches, and the people. I can hear their lilting accents through the whole story. On to book four.

Great story, highly recommend

Michele Brouder doesn't disappoint. If you love stories located in Ireland, you'll love all her Ireland book series. Characters seem real, plot seems real and wonderful romance that suggests but doesn't get heavy. I just wish all her books were offered with kindle unlimited. I want to be able to read all her books!

Cute story about an American nurse who gains an inheritance in Ireland. She goes to Ireland planning to fix up the house to sell it. While in Ireland, she feels a sense of belonging with some of the people she meets although she knows her life is back in America. The belonging is because of her feelings she gets for someone she works on the house with.

Singular Irish plot about a woman who loses everything; her boyfriend, her job but inherits a cottage in Ireland as a thank you from her hospice patient. Going there with intent to sell but instead finds common ground with the carpenter next door. Predictable conclusion but with good general knowledge about the coastline area of Ireland, not typically written about. Short, sweet and clean....

Irish Delight

Truly a delightful story about down-to-earth characters anyone would be happy to know, serendipity, and good will. I liked the fact that it all flowed naturally and didn’t seem calculated or extraordinary.

A well though out plot and plenty of diversity to keep you interested in keep you turning the pages.

I enjoyed this book because it highlighted areas of peoples lives that are hard to depict in words. Everyone has insecurities, and self doubt.

Accidentally in love.

Caroline is just in Ireland to sell a property she's inherited. Patrick lost his wife and is just there to work on the house. Will they help each other find love again?

Good, Clean, Easy Reading

Yes, they're sweet, predictable love stories. I don't read them often, but they offer a break from this loud, foul mouthed world we live in now....and everyone can use a break now and then.

The story was reminiscent of a hallmark movie with the awkward meet cute, developing relationship, event that stalls the relationship and the happy ending sealed with a kiss. Loved the epilogue

I felt like I knew the characters

The physical area was described well. The characters were developed well so I felt that I knew them. It gave me a reprieve from the stressful political situation.
