Two Thousand Forty-Four. The world of games changed long ago.
"Ascension" has become one of the most popular VRMMO games. It is a huge world divided into a hundred Floors, with each Floor a boundless location with its own countries, tribes, and millions of players.
The object of the game is to unlock all the gates and conquer the top.
Having joined the game, Will Thomson doesn't realize that he is all by himself. Then he accepts the first quest ...
Still a good series but the author has just created a plethora of story lines that don’t cohesively work together. Points of view are constantly switching and the constant hopping around plot lines leads to confusion and breaks the reader away as you try to remember what is going on and who is connected to what.
I'm really enjoying these books, and since they are audible included, I can without the anxiety of "could I have used that credit for something better". White Raven is changing and growing, and not just in that he is levelling up. The background intrigue is still mostly hinted at, without a lot of detail just yet.
I think one of the things that has kept me interested, is that White Raven plays the game like I play open world RPG's. He's pretty much lost the plot, and it stumbling along from one interesting side quest to another. Sure, since it is a book, they tend to tie in eventually, but I can relate. I never have completed the main quest line of Elder Scrolls Oblivion.
This continues our escapades of White Raven as he finds new and interesting ways of solving the puzzles in the game. The storyline continues to get more and more chaotic as new problems, stresses, and quests are brought in. Overall, a pleasant read albeit there are a few rough spots in translation. As always please ensure agree appropriateness with these novels as there are a number of expletives. I have enjoyed the series and will continue. The plot and premise are great.
This Russian story of a “ex American military man” who goes into a game to pull his family out of poverty was very intriguing read. While the game was new and other players start on the first three floors of a hundred, he is by himself on the twentieth something floor. With the higher level mobs, he quickly becomes the Game’s number one player. He is still a newb compared to the pro gamers but a much higher level. Great Story
I like this book series, it is pretty cool to read something from another culture. I think it's kind of funny how his American character keeps on eating potatoes and cabbage, he said that it he learned it from a Russian friend but I think we all know that he really eats potatoes and cabbage and real life.I look forward to the next book
Did audiobooks but think I’m switching to the books after this book. They are pretty long and the translation has improved a lot. Less mistakes and less of the small idiosyncrasies that made the first book hard to get through even if the story was interesting. There is a broader foreboding that is happening in this book so that also adds an interesting angle. Definitely continuing this series.
Ok the complexity of the story and the characters continue to grow and keep me engaged with the story. The pacing is very good and the action scenes are well written.
another MASTERPIECE, the entire book is amazing, it's cool to see a bit more of MC's real live in this part of the series. - in my opinion this book it's the best one in the series. (for now i've read only the first 3 books)
Good story and characters, very few of the problems so characteristic of works translated from other languages. Easy to read, enjoyable, looking forward to the next one.
Really interesting MC. The magic and worlds are all new band different. Interesting questa and abilities as well as items. Can't wait for the next translation!
Great book 3 , I was show enthralled with this book that when the book ended I was really surprised, that I thought there was a whole bunch more left in the story.
I love this series!!!! The writing is tight. The characters are developing well. And it doesn’t have the homophobia and misogyny so often found in Russian fantasy. I can’t wait for the next book to be translated.
