I half like Graphic Audio and half find it distracting with all the sound effects and music. I suppose it works to convey the visuals of a comic where there are none and it certainly makes it more exciting. This story was pretty good but my lack of background in the Marvel universe made it slightly less compelling and I felt like I had missed a lot of backstory. That's not a fault of the story in any way but I think this is not the best point to jump in at without any prior reading. The narrators were all very good and fit their roles well.

Pretty much one of the worst comic arcs I have ever read in my life. This has aged so unbelievably bad and even as a child of its time the story is quite literally the craziest bullshit ever.

We start the run with a seasoned Daredevil in his 30's. His life is basically in shambles, his girlfriend broke up with him and as such he carries a lot of emotions and baggage with him onto the dark streets and alleys he passes at night time.
This takes a drastic nose-dive once he happens to recieve custody to an unnamed child, with her mother being absolutely sure of it being the second coming of literal Jesus Christ on earth. Matt, in his LITERALLY last heroic act in this comic run saves both of them and takes the child to keep it safe.
Once he does though, as mentioned before, his life gets significantly worse and bad news are all around him. Considering his mental state before all of this, he gets so fucking disturbed by all these bad omens and perils that he actually believes the baby to be the cause of all this, and not once but TWICE in 8 comic issues tries to throw it off of a rooftop to selfishly end his suffering while sacrificing the newborn. Obviously this is not how the Authors want to depict Matt, clearly this was all a facade, a joke waiting for its punchline.
And wow, the reveal being Mysterio in his dying state wanting to play one last prank on one of those idealistic idiots he calls his enemies, choosing Matt only because Spider-Man was busy being weird was kinda cool because it further pushed down on Matt in his depressive, almost crushed state. Being the second choice in someones magnum opus is quite literally the most, but at the same time only poetic thing that this comic pulled. Obviously he drugged Matt, justifying his unhinged behavior through all of the story, to drive him insane.
When we consider though, that Mysterio literally says he KIDNAPPED the earlier mentioned mother, ARTIFICIALLY ENSEMINATED her WITHOUT CONSENT, GASLIT her into thinking her child was the reborn messiah to get it into Matt's custody, Oh i forgot to mention she is 16 years old, then all the "lives he took" as Matt mentions are really not comparable to the disgust I felt reading this. Overall this Comic is pretty sexist, Matt is REALLY sexist and overall a real piece of shit to everybody, not only due to his aforementioned drugging, no it kind of seems like he is generally not a nice person to be around. This might be a hot take but when I read a comic about a Superhero, what I expect AT LEAST, really the bare minimum is for the hero to be a good guy, maybe only in his own way, maybe in a controversial way. But I need him to be some form of IDEAL to strive after, or just the impersonification of strive generally. The arc of "Guy who lost all hope and spark to realize he cant allow himself to do that" is a common trope in hero-stories, but here its just a piece of shit being a piece of shit and staying a piece of shit for the entire time. That grumpy, almost anti-hero world view might appeal to some people, but personally I really couldnt stand it here. Especially because in the end when Mysterio shot himself after claiming his win on Daredevil, Matt just says "No bro you didnt succeed, I am completely sane and the mad guy was you all the time, because you wasted your time on all this bullshit.", when clearly he went full on psychopathic CHILD-MURDERER mode just a few hours back. Bro he told people he would fucking kill them, he said he enjoyed beating up robbers just to let his anger out, he was so fucking sinister, Mysterios plan CLEARLY worked bro, you didnt mog him or anything you went down to your lowest point EVER. I hated this because in the end we didnt have a coherent character arc, no learning curve, no moment of reflection for Matt. He just denies everything because he was to proud to admit that he looked like an idiot in the end.
The story, while being really problematic in some passages, was okay I think. But for a Daredevil comic this was fucking atrocious.
I hope the run gets better from here on because if not Mr Kevin Smith, I am sorry but I will not touch anything you write ever again.

EDIT: I am glad that the next few Issues adress the problems I had with the first arc of this run, but I think making Matt Murdock a misogynistic incel/ reddit atheist in his 30‘s is still kinda cringe and not the character arc I find natural to his character and also engaging generally to begin with. I admit my critique was kinda harsh and its fine if you like this comic but I just wasn‘t satisfied with it.

I always love a Daredevil comic so I'm kinda biased. This is my first audio version of a comicbook and I have to say... I really enjoyed it! The voice actors, the sound effects, all of it made it sound like a radio/podcast production. I will definitely have to try out more like it!

This is a short, fully dramatized book. I love that it is a fully dramatized book. The story wasn't anything special, but it was a fun in the background read.

This is the story of Matt Murdock and Foggy after their time as interns in a law office and before they set up their own law practice. Daredevil is busy at work through the story as a vigilante.

This was a fine audiobook adaptation of Kevin Smith's Graphic Novel. With a full cast and superb sound effects, this is something Graphic Audio and Dreamscape should be proud of. Matt Murdock's world is coming crashing down around him when a girl comes to him claiming she has had a child via immaculate conception. Then, things get even weirder. As the tension ratchets up, and Murdock wonders who he can trust, you will wonder who is behind this whole plot. Well executed drama. Recommended for Marvel fans or Daredevil fans who want a modern spin on an "old time" radio show.
