... lace, blown to the wind
that frames a derelict fenêtre,

to give vent to words
and drown frayed and battered feelings
in a darkened well of...

I enjoyed the “Vodka and Ice” poetry collection. It contains some very personal poems where the author’s thoughts and feelings are beautifully expressed. Through symbolism and imagery, we are taken to a magical world of love, pain, hope and misery. I recommend it to everyone who likes poetry.

Elegant, lyrical poems with evocative imagery and a depth of ideas. Standout poems include “The Morning After the Lifetime Before,” “Inner Turmoil,” and “Pen Me a Tale.”

'So... some choose
to give vents to words
and drown frayed and battered feelings
in a darkened well of...

Vodka & Ice.'

Waow! What a beautiful collection of enthralling poetry! Kimelene Carr is a very good crafter of words, telling of fleeting moments suspended in time (past or present) in mesmerising poems all like visions glittering full of light and colours. She blows verse to the winds, and the breeze thus created is just irresistibly gripping -even if tainted of sweet melancholy, even sadness.

'I draw circles
around midnight eyes
in the after dark
I sit on the shadows
that move
as I heap dirt
to mud the tears I cry'

-'THE VIBE AROUND THE TREE'

The whole is in fact so captivating, it's difficult to pick some favourites! Each poems are unique in their own way, all are charmingly dazzling. 'Dear me' and 'When Love Consents...' are ones I particularly enjoyed. A few verses here and there were also so strikingly beautiful I cannot but share some:

'in the dismal realm
of times past
where forever just died'

-'DAUGHTER OF EVE'

'I wish I could see myself
through your eyes

"You are beautiful!"

These words I will treasure
and give my heart a reason
to want forever
not because I believe it to be true

but only because
it was spoken by you

-'BEAUTIFUL... YOU'

'Light me a candle
for there is no moon'

-'GONE'

And on, and on, and on... I haven't read poetry able to arrest me like that in quite a while! Thanks to the author, and highly recommended!

Book Title : Vodka& Ice- A poetry collection

Author : Kimelene Carr

Blurb/Theme :
Vodka & Ice -A collection of poems that gives voice to depression, loneliness, heartbreak and the other pungent feelings that can plague existence.

About:
The cover and the title is very appropriate for the theme of the book.

I am an ardent fan of the author’s writings as I tend to connect with her poetry a lot. Tropical Sunsets in Delhian Nights was also a very beautiful collection which I enjoyed reading.

I loved all the poems especially –
The beginning after goodbye . I loved the line “but nothing stands now, chapters have come to an end”.

The Sans- The description of the wick is very interesting as I love the oil lamps with wick, it has been an all time favourite of mine.

My favourite lines are from Somehow – “Somehow you have become the destination at the end of the path that my heart will always follow”

I enjoyed reading this collection as always. I re-read it thrice.

I wish Kimelene Carr all the very best for her future authorship works.

My rating is
Narration:5/5
Story plot:5/5

As I read through this collection, I felt as if I was sitting on a tropical beach. I reclined beneath the stars with a drink in my hand and had a conversation with a dear friend. We talked about love. New love, rekindled love and love lost. We talked about beauty, actual and unrealized. We talked about heartbreak and the solitude that exists the moment when we realize that everything has changed. We talked about pain. Not just our pain but the pain of others. A deep, dark pain that pervades a world that we cannot affect. We talked about how life will go on no matter if we choose to live or to just exist. It was a good talk and when I left the beach, I was sober.

A Vine Around the Tree, has a line: "As I heap dirt to mud the tears I cry" my heart soared when I read that line, I just love the way this author pens their verses and take them to another level. The poems in this collection soar. Daughter of Eve, Sans, Reflection, and Sundae Blu, When Love Consents. I really enjoyed this entire poetry collection. It was a wonderful trip that feels you with good vibes and energy. Every poem lifts you in various ways. This beautiful collection of poetry is a must read!
