I like the story, but this is the third issue I'm reading in a row and I can't help but have the feeling that I've missed some episodes. I keep feeling that there should have been some explanations about how the world works that we just haven't seen anywhere; the impressive concept art towards the end isn't enough.
Most importantly, I feel like I'm reading a summarised version of an animated series. It seems like an awesome animated series, whose characters and world I could love given the time and attention, but I'm getting tired by the way it's told. If I can't enjoy it without feeling like it needs a musical score, then it probably doesn't work in this medium and should have been an animated series instead.
If it IS an animated series that I don't know of, it probably 1) deserves it and 2) should have been clearer in the books.
