Seabiscuit, National Velvet, and now Dreamer. It's a story about a girl, a horse, and a family.
DREAMER, loosely based on a true story, is the story of a Kentucky horse trainer and his daughter who rescue a horse with a broken leg. The two then help nurse the animal back to health and take it to race in the Breeders' Cup. Along the way, father and daughter discover that they have a lot more in common than they ever imagined.
Dakota Fanning, Kurt Russell, Elisabeth Shue, and Kris Kristofferson head the cast.

A story of a girl, a horse, and a race! Cale Crane loves horses, and her father trains the top Thoroubreds, but does this for other people. When one of those horses has a serious injury, her father buys the horse, and begins the process of rehabilitating it to race again. This a great book for the girls (and boys) in your classroom who love horses and love a good underdog story!
I just finished reading this book with my daughter. The book read well and was adult enough to keep my attention, but also written so that a younger audience could also very much enjoy the story. It was a quick and easy read that we both looked forward to each night.
This book was inspiring to me, because I myself have horses. When the little girl saved the racing horse life, it kind of related to me. A while back one of my horses foot started to swell up and I had to put it in a stall and leave it alone to see what would have happened. I saved the horses life just like that little girl in the story. I also have seen the movie a couple of times, so it was more interesting to me. No matter how bad the horse was I ended up healing its foot. I really liked the book.
Dreamer is a great book. I like it because it involvs a girl and a horse, my favorite animal. In the book they call the horse Sonya, which is spanish for Dreamer. The girl is named Cale and together Cale and Sonya make a miracle.
I enjoyed reading this book because it was about horses and a little girl with a dream. I could relate the girl because I always wanted a horse and i could never get one because i was to busy.
