Maybe I’m dumb, but I could not keep track of the characters. I was honestly just reading this to get it off my shelf because I didn’t expect much, and man was I right. The plot was really sad, and I’m sorry but Uncle Nick is a jerk. He is best friends with two 10 year olds, and was upset when he saw his nephew with the sword that he gifted to him!!!!!!!!! Like what?!

1. The Littles must get to Trash city to meet their friends the Trash Tinies. They have an important message that need to be delivered. When a storm hits the neighborhood things get tough for the Littles being small is a tough job with out rain. How will they get the message to the Tinies in time.
2. Grades 1-3
3. This book would be for a fun read or maybe if in science we are learning about storms.
4. Students who like adventure or maybe small for their age could enjoy this book.
5. I would let the students share this book and tell about a time they were stuck inside because of a storm.
6. I would use this book for the whole class and then have the students draw an invention using everyday items like the Littles do.
7. There are multiple books about the Little family.
8. There are toys cartoons and even a movie about the Littles.

When Uncle Nick is hurt, the Littles venture to the landfill to find some of his Trash Tiny friends.

This is a good volume in the series. It's fun to see the Littles venture outside their safety zone. They assume the Trash Tinies will have a trashy home, but they've actually come up with ingenious ways to have electric lighting, a swimming pool, etc. I have one more volume in this series to read - onward!

This was another cute story in a cute series. Although this title wasn't especially suspenseful, it made for an oddly satisfying read. I highly recommend this series to its intended audience and to anyone looking for a good, quick read.

This book is set around Christmas time. Uncle Nick gets injured and longs to see some of his friends from Trash City. Mr. Little, Tom, and Lucy travel to the town dump to arrange this. The visit to Trash City was very interesting.

James really liked the trash city, and how every household was made from discarded items. He also liked that the Tinies were safe there because they were under so much trash.

- Personal reaction
I am very interested in books about very small people. One of my favorite book is "Gulliver's Travels ". While reading this book, I recalled my experience of doing role-play of "Gulliver's Travels ". I was Gulliver. I pretended that I could not see my friends, who played small people. It was very enjoyable and I still remember it as one of my best memories.

- Purpose(s): I would read this book to first graders.
- This age group also starts to do many activities and other tasks with other classmates. Thus, as they read this book and learn how the family works together to bring people to their home, it would be very effective to understand the concept of working together.
- As the genre of this book is fantasy, children would expand their imagination. While reading this book, children would realize that possibly, there might be new existence in the world though we can't see them. If teachers ask them questions like "do you think that we are in this classroom with very small people?", children might look around the classroom to try to find them.
- However, as this story has many characters, children might be confused with their names. Thus, when reading this book, if a teacher writes down characters' names on the board and show their relationship, it would help them to read independently.
- As this story shows other perspectives of seeing the world, it might expand children's perspectives, as well.
- The family in this book live just like us. They cook what we actually eat, wear what we put on every day and speak just like us. The only difference between the characters and us is the body's size. It would help children to understand other people who seem to be different. For example, if children, who don't get used to meeting people with disabilities, are assigned to the same classroom with a student with a disability, it would cause some problems between them. This book helps them to realize that even though we look similar or different from each other, the most important thing is to accept people as preciously as possible because they deserve to be loved by others.

I am reading the series allowed to my six-year-old twin boys. They love the series. The great thing about The Littles is: it's just good old-fashioned adventure, fun. The stories stand up to time and they're really interesting. Every night the boys are looking forward to hearing the next installment.
A great family read.

This is the title from the Littles series that I remember best.

First of all, the idea that little tiny people live in the walls of the houses of big people and take tiny things from the big people to use in their own lives is super cool! To think that some of the tiny people live in the dump and get to use all the still good casts-off from big people--well, that's just AWESOME!

I've always been into stories about people who use items thrown away as junk by others to live their lives and make cool things. (Hmmm, that sounds like a current theme in my life!)

I should try to read this book again to find out if it's as cool as I remember it.

My favorite part was when the Littles made it safely to the Trash City to find the Trash Tinies that are friends of there Uncle Nick. The worst part was when a yellow cat just about found the Littles when they were at Trash City. The best character was Lucy because she had the idea to go find her Uncle's friends, the Trash Tinies. The worst character was Hildy the cat because he almost killed there Uncle Nick.Auryn 9 years.

The Littles will never be more than a watered down version of the Borrowers. Not a bad book, but I can't stop mentally comparing it to the Borrowers and the Littles always come in second place.

Decent for kids just getting into chapter books and introduces them to a neat little world to spark their imaginations.
Once that happens, get the kid a Borrowers book.

I remember that I didn't like the books with animals because the animals were always vilified. No matter how much I enjoyed reading some of this series, I wouldn't read it to any children today. I think empathy towards all creatures is important (and while I may have understood it as a child, the children I counsel need to be taught the concept).

One of the later books in the series and not as good as some of the earlier ones. You have to remember, though, that I read these to my son when he was young, and as an adult I might not have gotten so involved in them as a young child would. All these books have a certain charm to them, though.

Read this to my 4 year old daughter, chapter at a time, as a bedtime story. Good for kids, but as an adult I found it annoying. I grew up watching the cartoon so some aspects were discongruous. So just not me cup of tea.
