It's Valentine's Day in Ivory Beach, and Rory's family's magical library is ready for the occasion. Rory is hoping for a visit from a certain Reaper, but instead finds herself drawn into another mystery when the student hired to deliver Valentine's cards dressed as Cupid is found shot by one of his own arrows.
On top of that, a blind dating craze goes sour, with tempers rising and curses flying left and right. Can Rory get to the bottom of the mystery in time to stop the mayhem from engulfing the library, too, or will it all end in disaster?
Elle Adams lives in the middle of England, where she spends most of her time reading an ever-growing mountain of books, planning her next adventure, or writing. Elle's books are humorous mysteries with a paranormal twist and tons of magical mayhem.
She also writes urban and contemporary fantasy novels as Emma L. Adams.
This series has been enjoyable enough, but this book really dragged along. Most of the characters are likable; however, when a someone is so self-involved and obnoxious that you can't notice they're under a spell it may be time to lose that character.
I am really enjoying this series! I was looking for a fun lighter cozy mystery series while I was on vacation and have continued reading the books once I was back. Aurora (Rory) is a fairly new biblio-witch. She lives with her 2 Aunts and 2 cousins in a magical library and is dating the Reaper Xavier. In this book, it is just before Valentines Day and the library hired a Cupid to deliver notes from admirers but it all goes wrong. Their Cupid is put in a coma along with the Valentines messages being delivered to the wrong person. Rory, Xavier, Cousins and Aunts help solve the mystery and get everything back on track. I thought I might like Candace and Cass by now but not much. There is humor, paranormal characters and magic, romance, family and friends that keep these books enjoyable. #LoveSpells&LateFees #LibraryWitch
The more I read of this series, the more entertained I am. As I get to know the characters I find I even like some of the villains. In this book, set during Valentine week, Estelle (Rory's favorite cousin) organizes an event where people drop valentine letters in a box at the library and an employee of the library, dressed in a cupid outfit, delivers the letters to their recipients. But something goes wrong and the employee gets shot with one of his own arrows and falls into a deep coma. The letters also get delivered to the wrong people causing all sorts of chaos in people's relationships. The only antidote to the spell that causes the coma requires tedious preparation. Others are shot and become comatose while someone is trying to sabotage the cure. Meanwhile Xavier and Rory are getting closer.
The Valentine's Day-themed book of the series... Surprisingly, I think this is the best of the lot so far! Possibly because nobody actually dies in this one. Instead, a couple of people get knocked out with a "poison apple" potion that essentially puts them in a magical coma, but the same investigative shenanigans ensue as in the other books... however, the difference is that it makes a lot more sense for Rory (who is technically a librarian, don't forget!) to be investigating this crime than when she is going around asking people about MURDER VICTIMS. Not to mention it just feels less "serious" overall and thus the ridiculous attitudes and silly nonsense in the plot don't feel as incongruous as usual. For whatever reason, I found this book more fun and enjoyable than all the others, though that's not saying much. Of course it was still rife with shitty world-building, logical inconsistencies, etc. Alas.
I honestly can’t get enough of this series, I don’t know what Elle Adams has done, but she has made it so that once you start reading you can’t stop. I’ve been hooked with this series since the very beginning and each book just gets better and better. You can also see how much Elle’s writing is growing with each book that she writes and I know for a fact that I’ll keep reading her work in the future as she is a talented author. She has done a great job with creating this series and I do think that this book was a great read. Things are getting more and more interesting and I just love Rory and Xavier… I honestly thought the way that this book was done was interesting, this book had such a different effect than the others and I enjoyed reading it. I’ve noticed that this book has got such a different witch essence than other witch books have and I honestly found it refreshing. I know that some books can just blend together depending on the genre’s, but when an author can put a spine on things and make them stand out that’s what makes the book worth reading and taking a chance on in my eyes and from what I can see, Elle Adams has done that. I’m excited to see what happens in the next book as I have a feeling we’ll be in for more of a treat.
Valentines Day is nearing and the whole town is getting excited about the day. Rory and her family have set up a cupids love note service with the help of their own cupid delivering the love notes around the town. Rory is hoping to spend the day with her boyfriend Xavier but instead things are starting to go crazy, first with the original cupid getting shot with his own arrows and ending up in a comma, Aunt Candance under the spell of a love potion and soon enough there’s fights breaking out in the town because people are getting the wrong notes. When it becomes apparent that there’s a few spells and curses going about, Rory and her family are determined to figure out what’s going on, will they be able to get everything fixed in time or will more people pay the price and end up in comas too?
Valentine's day is coming up soon and Estelle has plans for decorating the library and having someone dress up like Cupid and deliver cards that people drop off at the library. But something goes wrong and Cupid is shot with on of his own arrows...he's not dead but in a coma of sorts What is going on in Ivory Beach...even the new dating service is screwing up the dating matches. Rory has to figure out what is going wrong before the town inhabitants go crazy with love
Very cute Valentine’s Day Celebration Week at the Library, complete with heart balloons, sparkles, confetti and a box for secret love letters to be delivered by a cute hired Cupid in a Pink Cupid suit with shiny wings and apparently hexed arrows. When notes began to be purposely derived to the wrong people, complete chaos ensued. Discover the mystery of Cupids arrows and a love potion spell secretly slipped to almost everyone in town very cute, cozy mystery. No sexual content and spirited characters. 😍
I really enjoyed this book in the series. It was a bit more light-hearted, and I liked the way the Valentine's theme was weaved in throughout, with different events and parties. The romantic mix-ups were very fun, especially with Aunt Constance. Rory continues to have difficulties in attempting to date the Grim Reaper's apprentice, as Grim doesn't seem to want to let him have any freedom. I'm interested to see where this will go in the long-term.
I immersion-read this on Kindle Unlimited and audio.
Valentine’s Day is approaching, and love is in the air, but so is treachery. Several of the town’s residents have been shot with arrows dipped in Poison Apple Potion. They’ll stay in a deep sleep until an antidote has been brewed. Can Rory find the culprit in time to save Valentine’s Day?
Another great read from Elle Adams, that will keep you guessing until the end. I highly recommend this one.
This book centers around the Hawthorne women's experience as they try to make Valentine's Day special in the magical town of Ivory Beach in England. Each woman has a different experience as they try to solve the mystery of who distributed a batch of Poison Apple spell on different townspeople. A fun light read as an escape from the insanity happening in America as we approach the midterm election. May the time fly by!
This is the fifth book in the Library Witch Mystery series. I had a hard time believing that no one in the family knew a certain family member was cursed/under a potion’s control. I figured it out rather quickly and those knowing the family should have put it together.
The cupid’s are being shot with their own arrows and are in a coma. The dating app is a bit screwy and will it be resolved by Valentine’s Day and will anyone die?
Rory continues her training & there's another mystery to be solved. It's Valentine's Day and love is in the air - but strange behaviors and infatuations are making things worse. Add Cupids being shot with option-dipped arrows and Rory is on the hunt for answers.
Unfortunately I didn't actually start reading this story in February. But I know that if I had I would have loved reading it during the Valentine's season. I think it's very cool to mix a Cupid, a grim reaper and a witch for this season. A very unique story.
I’m very happy with this story. It held my interest and made me laugh. I’m understanding Aunt Candace and Cass a little bit more. They were my least favorite characters. However, seeing them in this book makes me like them slightly more than before.
Elle Adams has a wonderful sense if humor and fantastic imagination. I have enjoyed this series immensely. The characters all have such wonderful quirks and personalities. A fantastic read.
Love Rory and Xavier together. Thus was a hard one to figure out who was causing the problem, I got the human but did not go far enough. There was a lots of suspects. Really great.
I'm really enjoying this series and this book keeps the entertainment flowing. I use my brains a little, I'm pleasantly amused and I've enjoyed it all! Thanks for another good show!
I didn't think this was as good as the previous 4 books but it passed the time. I also feel it lacked any insight into her dad or the vampires and what they want. It feels like that part had been forgotten.
Great book as usual all about valentines day and what cupid can get up too and its mishaps. This set of books is on the cozy size and is really nice . If your not in to alot of paranormal stuff and on a little bit this is the series for you. Its cute not grungy.
I enjoyed this book. The characters are familiar now, fun, and interesting. The plot is easily followed and the premise is finding out why everyone's love life is getting disrupted. The answer is funny. I do recommend this book.
I’ve enjoyed the books, but frankly, I find Candace annoying and a bit narcissistic. I really wish that she wasn’t like that so much. I do enjoy the love story between Rory and Xavier.
love spells and late fees by elle Adams. it's valentines day and her boyfriend is apprentices to the grim reaper. honestly it's the side characters in this series that are keeping me going and her father's journal lol
