This mangaka has done the impossible.... the UNTHINKABLE! She has actually made me WANT to see Azusa and Karino get together. I know that sounds insane and borderline sadistic, but, after all of the crazy shit they've done to and with each other... I just can't see them being with anyone else. They've gotten used to and actually LIKE this twisted ass relationship. For all of Azusa's bluster whenever Karino makes him do something degrading, he always seems to get turned on by it. And for all of Karino's constant declarations of not caring about what happens to Azusa, he has yet to let anyone seriously hurt him.
Act 24 was so superbly written that I just- The way both Azusa AND KARINO reacted after Karino shouted that he wasn't even thinking about the game and just wanted to f*ck Azusa was priceless. This wasn't about power anymore. This was pure, unadulterated desire... and Karino was not expecting that, LOL! Oh, and that kiss at the end of the act! Oh my God! I was just staring at it with this stupid grin on my face, trying to understand what the hell I was feeling 🤣.
Atsumu was absolutely adorable during the class trip. He was having so much fun, and he made sure everyone else was having fun, too. Hell, he even got Azusa to lighten up. I thought Kuze would get jealous about how much he kept worrying about Azusa, but, at least to the reader, he seemed to take it all in stride. They are so freaking cute together! I wonder how long Kuze had a crush on him. When he was the Jack and Atsumu was the Target, did he ever participate in his bullying? Atsumu did describe him as being nice, so probably not... but I wonder if he ever tried to help him out without his knowing. I guess it doesn't matter because I know for a fact that he wouldn't allow anyone to bully him now. I really hope they make it to the end of the series.
Going into volume 6, we know that someone (most likely that Eno dude) is trying to hurt Azusa and that there has been some sort of change in the game. We won't know what that actually means until the next volume, but I'm so ready.
Volume 5 of Caste Heaven takes the main cast to Kyoto for a school trip! Things continue to be rocky for the MC due to his classmates' hostility but there is some development for the main couple ( which of course leads to some steamy smut scenes)! I'm definitely on board for more!
This one has so many cute and wholesome moments (and sure as hell, this one's my favorite volume) but the creepy moments won't stay still and joined the school trip as well! Poor Azusa was stalked and bullied by some other students that he's on full alert every night. But I love how Atsumu is always on the look-out for Azusa. I love their friendship! And the girls... omigosh! I adore Kana and Kyoko's friendship too! It's just too fluffy! Actually, the Group E is so cute that I wish they're a groupie in the main story!!
But, as much as school trips are a breather chapters/volumes, it's bound to end. AND NOW FOR THE FREAKY MOMENT, I WISHED TO NEVER HAPPEN THOUGH, BUT IT'S GONNA HAPPY STILL AUGH. The villain's appearance and the game change are about to happen in the next volume. Really, revolting events just won't stop and I fear for Azusa's existence. The f with this fucked-up storyline, I just really can't.
I’m so envious of Japanese school trips, they seem like so much fun. And all of these characters are changing for the better. I can’t wait to see them burn the caste game to the ground, and love who they want to love.
This volume is definitely my favorite in the series thus far. It was much fluffier than the previous volumes, which was refreshing. In this volume, the students go on a school trip together and grow closer. We also see our main couple finally take the next step in their twisted relationship. This was very satisfying for me. I never expected to love this series as much as I do now, but here I am. If you're okay with the content of the series, I would recommend it.
Caste Heaven is appallingly cruel and tasteless. It could have been an interesting read about social hierarchy at school and bullying, but any hint of a good story this might have possessed was drowned out in the way it is delivered. This takes place in a high school where all students participate in a caste game: everyone is assigned a card that marks their social status and the lower you are the more you get bullied. Bullying, though, is an understatement - there are multiple rape scenes per chapter within the first volume alone.
The actual story takes a complete backseat and is ultimately just a means to an end for characters to have sex, a lot of which is at the very least borderline rape. Apart from the fact that this entire game is completely messed up and unrealistic, I found it very hard to stomach and am baffled that people actually enjoy this. I would have dropped this after the first two chapters had I not already owned the volumes. If nothing else, I can say that rather than improving, Caste Heaven stays true to its themes and only introduces new oddly-matched couples - why is it that non of these characters are even remotely sane? I'm getting rid of this - I don't care how it ends and I don't recommend it. I shall end this the way it started: this manga is nothing short of cruel and in poor taste.
I laughed when one of the girls in the E(?) group complained about wanting to dress cute and enjoy the school trip with her friends. People are forced to hang out with those in their randomly assigned cliques and when the ranking changes, people hold grudges/ take revenge or just follow the flow/ status quo and own up to their either bully or victim position. I don’t know how you can get a friend from this scenario besides I guess all the couplings being the counterpoint. I guess my argument went down the drain. Regardless, the main pair is moving forward which is a nice direction. Also, the volume ends with saying the game is changing. Please be good while entertaining. We shall see.

This is bittersweet as I sense the ending of this manga coming. Honestly, this hasn't been my favourite volume from the series but I thoroughly enjoyed the progression of Asuza and Karino's relationship, as it's clear that despite the powerplay and the unhealthy aspects of it there are real feelings between them. Loved that kiss!!! I'm really excited to see how this will progress as the game is changing, which I assume means the social hierarchy will flip again and if we finally get a happy ending for some other characters (i.e.Tatsumi and Senzaki).

I genuinely believe that this is my favorite book that song from the series. I am getting quite literally so close to the end. There are so many questions that I have about how this series is going to end. Are they going to keep the castle system? Are they going to keep coming after Azusa? Well what’s his face come back to school? That is my favorite character…. ( if you read the other books, you know who I’m talking about ) is the odd side couple the one dude that manipulates the other going to get their own book? So many thoughts and feelings
Wow! Development!! I liked the scene with the food, it’s almost like the ML has been raised in such an environment that he was oblivious to others feelings around him! That scene that even shocked him where basically he could care less about the game but just wanted sleep with A was a shocker for both him and A. I believe they are a both slowly changing. So looking forward to next volume!
I can finally give this 5* because our main couple progressed! Was it a tiny step? Yep, but it is a step nonetheless! The change of setting was quite refreshing. The side couple was really sweet and hot. Well, the smut here was amazing. I just hope that the game really takes a turn next, it's been reased for like 3 volumes (or at least 3 volumes end with the tease lol).
I've loved the series up to this point, and I will still continue reading it, but this volume just felt poorly paced and at times confusing. I didn't find the development in Karino and Azusa's relationship to be convincing.
Who is that guy I wanna hit so bad, huh?! Leave my boy alone! (He’s now my boy, he’s got me) / I someone starting to care, huh? / oh hoho things are getting interesting
