I quite enjoyed this one. I think there will be another book but the cliffhanger is soft. The MCs end on a good note but there's still the worry of her 'vision' coming to pass.

Anyways, the first half was non stop action and got a little tiring to read. Then the middle part where she meets her 'people' and convalesces was kinda frustrating. It made sense after the fact, but it still had me gnashing my teeth a bit with the way the Fae treated her friends and that she seemed somehow oblivious to it. But like I said, it was important to the story arc and made sense in a fate over personal autonomy kinda way.

The last 15% was a wonderful wind up to it all.
So only 3 stars because I found the book kinda uneven in pacing.

Really looking forward to the next book!

Again I am thrilled I tried this series...the covers are a bit blah to me. Yes I am one of those readers ... sucky cover not picking up, usually.

Book 2 was just as well crafted as book 1. The only thing I found missing was the action which I loved in the first book. This one was more on the emotional side, and I am not an emotional person. Heart. Of. Stone. lol

Devon and Charity's magic compliments each other on another level. The power I see them yielding in future books is something I truly look forward too. However, their story is done. *sigh* Again not a sizzle of the page type of romance, but a brilliantly written story worth picking up.

Happy Reading! DD

This one was better written with more of a plotline than the first in the Warrior Fae series. There are more multiple POV's, which hurt the first book because it was standard romance style, but this one focused on others as well to take it from merely a PNR to more of an UF.

I am curious if her race will have to do with getting the elves in line again, but time will tell. Not sure what to think of that prophecy she saw in her vision yet - again, I'm still hoping Reagan and her dad actually get along because that would be a twist that makes sense and more interesting. Vlad stepped back from being too much of an stereotypical villain with bad lines like he was in the first book - he is more redeemable this time, although of course he has stuff up his sleeves. Who is the new baddie in town with vampire spies, enhanced demons, and challenging Reagan? Perhaps another ancient vampire?

Darius is completely absent, Reagan gets a few scenes, Penny and Emery play their roles as the most powerful, and we get more of the wolf pack I've come to like as they escort Charity to her ultimate destination. I've read reviews that the ending is sad, but I don't see why at all? It seemed to end happy for the two and everyone involved with them.

This series offbranch is still a bit juvenile feeling to me in terms of a few things, and I skimmed through the too-long steam stuff. It doesn't feel like there was enough to do with these characters to make them as interesting. Charity's people have a history that's interesting but they are a little one-dimensional. They aren't unlikable, just I'm glad there was only 2 books in this series as I'm not sure the mains were interesting enough to keep having more. There just wasn't enough personality substance to them, or their powers or worldbuilding, in comparison to some of the other characters or other series. There was, thankfully, a lot of other stuff going on to distract from that and still keep the book interesting. I just wish the romance part was less cheesy and typical.

Full review to come.

And Vlad definitely knows how to exit with the right lines. 0_0

Meh. **2.5**

Charity was either napping, being a damsel, or being a self-absorbed asshole for this whole book. I don't like her character at all. Nor do I particularly like Devon, who apparently is fine with being a high-handed asshole and deciding what is best for her. Some partnership they are going to have.

Plus, this book was completely a yawn. The climax was a cooking competition. And then, I guess, exploding a shack in a fit of temper. Wtf am I even reading?

I only powered through it because I like the overall plot very much, and I want all the pieces for when we get back to the Reagan arc. But the bits with Reagan, Penny, and Emery were the only good bits. Do yourself a favor and mostly skim for those.

KF Breene has done it again with another kick a*se story with a heroine who takes no prisoners and kicks a*se. I love the action and adventure, sarcastic banter/humor, sexy and witty characters. It is good to see some of the gang back together. These women of the DDVN world are absolutely brilliantly snarky, sassy and loyal. With magic and shifters, Fae and many others what could be better?

I can't get enough of this addictive series, KF has the ability to transport you to another world where you can completely lose yourself and I know you will too.

Emotive, Enlightening & Explosive With Surprising Ebbs In It's Flow!!😱💔👑⚡💥🌺
Warrior Fae Princess: Book #2 (DDVN World Book #8)

The conclusion of this Duet is a delight of emotions that we don't often get to touch, in this wonderful 'magic & mayhem' driven series!😍🎉

Something is rising - Yes, in Steve's shorts yet again, too 😂 Oh man, that Lion Shifter is a horny devil!😂🙈 Poor Charity is still struggling with her magical surges. Thankfully Devon, the sexy Alpha, is still able to help her - for now. Their time is running out to execute the plan to get her into the Realm, to the 'Warrior Fae' to see if she is really one of them. The hope is they'll know how to help balance her magic permanently!!🙏,

With the additions of Steve, and a few other extra strong shifters, to his Pack, Devon will need navigate the Realm to the Flush, where this branch of the Fae live. Roger has secured aid from Emery, one half of the strongest Dual-Mage pair in the World, as their guide!!💥Now they just have to make it to a Breach alive & cross it ... then avoid the Elves, Vampires, Demons & any other number of Supernatural beings to save Charity - Hopefully!!😢🙏⚡

Phew, this is often tense & explosive reading😳🙈 You may shed pounds in sweat as well as your finger nails.😓💅 Dont worry there are giggles & snark too but just not as much as we're used to perhaps? This book has some downtime, but it's important downtime!!😎 You need to stay alert.😉 There's a lot of emotions floating around in this one too. Not the sort where we have Reagan or Penny to make light of it either, but 'deep' stuff - more than once!😳 We learn an awful lot, which is more eye opening than I anticipated. Of course that also means the second this book ended I was jonesing for what ever comes next!!😍 We are spoiled by this Author, She is prolific, but even she needs time to actually write our drug of choice, her words - Damn her!!😇😂

Yet another addictive addition to the DDVN World 🌎 All of the stars 🌟

I didn't enjoy this book as much as the previous. I still liked Charity, Devon, his pack and the others, but a lot of Charity's actions bothered me. She seemed to be processing more emotion in this book, which would have been fine except she seemed to be crying or passed out for the majority of the book. I liked seeing her come into her own at the end, and I really enjoyed watching her learn to master her power. But the rest? Meh.

Devon annoyed me as well. His decision to follow what the Seer said instead of having a conversation with Charity was frustrating. Aside from that, however, I liked how he put her first and protected her. I wish we'd seen more with the pack and Charity. They way certain things were handled seemed out of keeping with the way they operated in the first book.

Still, for all that, I enjoyed this book as a whole. The world is fresh and fascinating, and I really enjoyed seeing another element come into play. While this isn't my favorite of the series, I can't deny it was engaging.

Best yet

I have read all books by Ms. Breene and this, by far, is my favourite. The depth of emotions surpasses previous works, which were all well written. Charity and Devon are a couple who you root for. Loved it and can't wait for the next instalment.

The conclusion is almost here! All the events are starting to unfold & key players are assembling. I liked this duology about Charity & Devon. I liked both of these characters (way more than the last three books in the series - Penny is so freaking annoying). I’m excited to see how this all plays out in the next book that goes back to Reagan’s POV. She’s been the catalyst so it makes sense that we return to her for the end.

Much more enjoyable than the last book. Devon, while still kind of hard to like, is at least less of a jerk. And, all the gang plus pack is together so the humor and high jinx are all kinds of fun.

Another winner

Honestly raise your hand if you got the impression that this was like a finale in the making? I’ve fallen hardcore in love with this he characters within he world of Demon Days and Nights and everything here felt like we’re gearing up for one last ride before we say goodbye to this world.
This book was pretty standard, but I definitely wanted to give props to Breene here for the ongoing theme of implicit bias and what makes a person “belong.” Its a topic that is rarely touched on but we see it every day. Whether it takes the form of racial identity, immigration status or difference in looks. I thought it was interesting to note that we all have the power to call attention to wrong doing and make changes in our own way.

The better in the fae world

So this book takes place predominantly in the fae world. I liked it so much better than the college setting and we got more explanations of the name Charity for the main character. Still hate the name, accept the reasons behind it. Looks like we are getting close to the end of the timelines in this world. The next book should be -THE BIG BATTLE- of sorts. At least in this book we got more details of the fae world and all the drama within - as well as some peeks at how Reagan is still trying to hide her identity and be supportive to other magical individuals. I look forward to the next book when it comes out.

The story line still gets better with each book. Tragedy strikes in this book and Breene grows her skill in her story telling. Her world building is always great. But I think as this story continues, I’ll make a drinking game out of the many times Charity (and maybe other characters) cries, whines, holds back unshed tears, or any other drama induced waterworks. There is no shortage of crying in this book too. It at one point really made me want to just hit the girl upside her head. I get once, maybe even bleary eyes. But after that, girl pull up them preverbal panties up and get some back bone. Geesh.

This book is a fine one if you are approximately 16-20 years old. The rest of the series was built for slightly older adults (25 and up I would say) but this book is definitely for the young IMO.

Unexpectedly, there were tears, and it was bittersweet ending, but the rest of the journey and plot progression honestly bored me so much that I struggled to continue reading to finish the book. Similar to what I noted about the first book, I just really didn't care for the naive immature main couple. Their insta-lust was over the top, and they kept trying to bang each other in very bad situations when others were waiting on them.

There was a lot of drama that was superfluous that just made the pacing slog, like the pack drama with Dale. It was also very confusing to keep track of who was supposed to be the villain in these books, and it seemed necessary to continue with more books in the series in order to finish the overarching plot, otherwise the story seemed very unfinished.

I wouldn't pick up this duet for a re-read, but I'm still interested in reading the next book that follows Reagan again. I do think that she is a rather abrasive character though.. so we'll see how that goes.

Finished it legitimately as we pulled up to our house, this series has been amazing for our road trip and I cannot wait to finish the next three out now that all the players are in place! Devon and Charity got their HEA and they will be powerhouses together. I went back and forth on how much I enjoyed it, I would have preferred more time focused on them but learning all about the realm, fae, and getting to see the other two storylines tie in to this was excellent. Vlad has something up his sleeve and I cannot wait for more of the Red Prophet along with some of our other favorite side characters. As always the pack was so endearing, there was sadness, but Andy can always make you crack a smile.

When will this series end?

Don't get me wrong, I LOVE this series. I love the old and the new characters. But I was hoping this was it! We get a teaser in this book of what is sure to be knock-down-drag-out-epic-battle ....but we don't get the actual fight which I am really looking forward to at this point!! This book had it all, which made the ending kinda predictable...but in a likeable way? Like you really look forward to people getting what's coming for them...and then they do!

Every time I read another book in this series I feel drawn a little more into a well crafted world of amazing characters. Non-stop action and one heck of a fun ride can’t wait to read the next book. Another must read.

A weepy heroine and a cooking competition

Here’s the thing. It’s a passable story for a romance. For a paranormal fiction story it’s barely tolerable. A Cooking competition to determine societal place? And Charity spends half the story asleep, or whining. I just didn’t feel the attachment between her and her “Alpha Wolf.” Actually the best characters were the mad fae woman who climbs walls to see if she can, and Seth.
I recently have been rereading series including this one, and I love the first trilogy with Ragaen. The second was ok with Penny and Emory. (A bit naive to think Mage Guild will be a better place now) This one so far is meh. I mean don’t get me wrong, the shifters are fun, and Charity’ Dad (the Gardner) is actually funny. But I want more story and less guilt laden looks and angst. So three stars because Regan shows up and Penny and Emory are in it, even Vlad has his twirly mustache moment. Honestly I would rather just go back to the story line where we see what Lucifer is up to, or actually battling forces (like Book 3 or 6). I keep wanting to smack Charity and knock out the soppy “poor pitiful me” idiocy. Being born poor doesn’t make you sympathetic. Living with an alcoholic parent doesn’t either. Her past can color her perspective but it doesn’t make her an interesting character to read if she just cries and whines about it All The Time. Anyhow. I will be reading the next one to see if we get more realm politics and snarky kick ass women with partners who are equally kick butt.

Ok. I enjoyed this book. And, I look forward to what is to come in the series. (This cannot possible be the end . . . ) Yet, this book also annoyed me. For the first time in the series, the "f" word was prevalent (and used frequently in the way that I particularly find heinous . . . as a synonym for sex . . . which to me (even though I skip the scenes) should be something beautiful and not hateful . . . ) and there was much more sex than is normal in these books. This is all quite disappointing to *me* because it is the 8th book in the series . . . and all of the sudden the style changed. I *liked* the style of the first 7 . . . it is why I am still reading.

Setting all that aside, I adore Devon and Charity is delightful. I felt getting her to the Flush happened more quickly than it probably should have and the conflict with Vlad was too easily ignored. The death felt like a forced "oooo, someone we like really needs to die!" moment instead of a naturally occuring event. I do not even care if it is natural . . . I do NOT READ TO BE SAD.

The humor is still there . . . but a bit more buried. All in all, even though I liked the characters and the story was passable . . . the book disappointed me because it felt as though the author switched up the series. I really hope whatever comes next returns to normal . . . or I may not be able to finish the story.

This will likely be my hardest review to write to date of KF Breene's works. And I'm a diehard Breene fan. I concur with Breene that you should read the Born in Fire or Natural Witch series' before starting the Warrior Fae stories. They're all intertwined, but you need an intro to Reagan or Penny before delving into the Fae. These are adult books with sex scenes, but it's just the right amount of romance mixed with the story. I enjoyed the romance and steam between Charity and Devon. I also loved how Breene showed a scene where Charity goes home to find clues about her mother's whereabouts. It really ties her past together with her future and I think was essential to the storyline. It's something Devon needed to experience, not just hear about, along with the other members of the pack in order to follow her. Her fae father is a breath of fresh air after the horrors of her childhood. He's a bit of a softie after exile with the rest of the fae but we do get to see Charity bring out their true nature as the story develops. And we get to see Charity grow into her powers which are unique and intriguing. I absolutely love how Breene has her own twists on somewhat classic paranormal beings and their abilities which keeps you guessing.

Sadly, I think the criticisms outweigh the praise. The anticipation has been building for what, 8 books now, and I didn't think it could get any higher, but somehow Breene did it. I'm glad she's going to delve back into Reagan's world next because if she kept stringing us on for much longer, there might be some mutiny from her readers. Having Penny and Emery join the world was also refreshing and ties everyone together between the books in this world. This book is necessary, but at the same time, I just want to cut to the chase and know what happens! The Red Prophet was a flat out weird addition. I know she's adding diversity to the story, but I can't decide if she's beneficial or is going to throw everything into chaos. And I'm inclined to say it'll be the latter. Which adds to the frustration as the reader on behalf of the characters. Lastly, the prophecy hanging over everyone's heads the entire book was aggravating even if it was necessary. I felt like it was like watching a train wreck about to happen, and when it does, you want to scream and throw the book across the room but you keep going because you HAVE to know what happens. I'm pleased with where the book ends, but I'm not going to lie, it was hard to read to get to that point. Maybe I'm just not a person who enjoys that much emotional turmoil, but I'm glad I've read it and now have a greater understanding of the world Breene's created as she reaches this pinnacle of action.

“The lion, the yeti, and the dingy hotel suite,” Charity said as Devon ran right. “One wonders why that never became a beloved children’s book.”

“The time will come when you need to make a choice. ...—to give her a life—you must take the hard road,...”

(Warrior Fae 2) Warrior Fae Princess by K. F. Breene Review

My thoughts on Review spoilers, and ratings may be relevant before you venture below the spoiler line. Click the [Back] button there to return here if you take a look. Review 800± words.

My Rating: 4.5 Star Rating

Recommended 4.5 star fantasy paranormal romance novel. Charity and Devon are our protagonist and co-protagonist in a continuation of the Warrior Fae series, the eighth novel in the Demon Days, Vampire Night world. In this novel we are primarily trying to save Charity from herself. A quest novel.

Additionally, Ms. Breene is beginning to wrap up the multitude of "loose ends" in the Demon Days, Vampire Night world.

Eight books into a series "highly recommending" is overkill. If you've read eight, you're mumbling to yourself at this point (04/01/2021), "Can you hurry up, Katie?" Be patient, there is a publish date for Book 9: Revealed in Fire.

Generally: --- Spoiler Line, cross at your own risk ---
Chairty is reaching her magic puberty and her magic is literally knocking people around. Her lack of control of her magic endangers herself and those around her. Much like any teenager, there's emotional chaos going on.

Further, her needy side, formed from abandonment, rejection, poverty, and abuse has found a comfy hole in Devon who has been assigned to protect her by his boss, Roger.

We already know (by this novel) that Devon is completely in love with Charity. He has been sexually conquered, and his manly ego boosted to ecstatic heights. His normal shallow, I've now conquered you, you're-no-longer-interesting love life is in tatters.

Charity however is a magical creature of little known variety and whose magical puberty is literally killing her. Devon's magic can get her through her magical hormone floods, but only by enduring excruciating pain. Devon must get her help, and he's not entirely certain who or what can help her.

In addition to being oblivious about her magic or how dangerous it is, Charity's abandonment issues won't allow her to hope "the Devon comfy hole love affair" will last, but she desperately wants it to.

Mix in one of the most powerful, seductive creatures in the Brink or the Realm as one antagonist, who is well known to be entirely self-serving, has decided she will belong to him, and the excitement rises. Charity sarcastically calls him, her BFF. Tragically, his reach, knowledge, and ability to gather resources and information may be her only hope to survive.

Likes and Dislikes:
Most my life I've avoided "romance" novels for the same reason I avoid "Lifetime movies". They're more addictive than heroin. Not joking! The reason folks feel like they're dying when someone they love dumps them is because they've just cut off the "love, emotion, pleasure hormones" which are more powerful than any opiate. They're evolutionary cement to assure the species survival. Nicotine is easier to quit compared to getting off those pleasure hormones, which romance novels produce quite easily. So, I'm a bit unnerved that Katie has taken a series that started with a strong female warrior with some "not terribly vivid sex" into the hot sex territory. I suppose it is a natural progression, but I wasn't prepared for it. Now I'm collecting and cashing in plastic to buy more K. F. Breene dope.

Conclusion:
I have entirely enjoyed the Demon Days, Vampire Night World series of trilogies. This novel in particular, literally kept me up all night. Even when the Epilogue concluded, I continued turning pages.

I suppose they don't make a patch to ease you off romance novels...

Brilliant Story Telling

I love the way K F Breene has built this universe and the creatures within it. I know that I have skipped a lot of the world building as I’ve not read the first part of the series, not realising I was missing it because of the groupings of the novels. This book contained a lot more about things I knew nothing about, with magical characters I now know are from earlier books. It was intriguing enough to make me want to go back and read those books but it wasn’t overly confusing, despite my lack of knowledge.

It’s in this book we follow Charity’s magical growth as her magical abilities continue to swell and surge out of control. The main thing keeping her in check has been Devon’s alpha powers, which have been pushed to grow in order to balance Charity’s. It has made him a force to be reckoned with at a very young age.

Charity managed to hang on until the end of the school term, but everyone knew she needed to go to the Warrior Fae to get her magic balanced properly and to receive training. The journey is not an easy one, but she receives help, support and protection from Devon and his pack, plus some extra people drafted in by Roger, the Alpha in charge of North America.

One of the things I loved about this book was that the author isn’t afraid to have characters exhibit both good and bad traits. No one is wholly one thing or another. This gives the characters depth and creates tension and allows for great story telling. This holds true for entire races of supernatural beings as well as individuals. The author shows that each race has both good and bad traits that can either help or harm themselves and others.

This book has an awful lot going for it and I know I want to read what happens next. I hope a new book is released soon!

I was actually torn with how to rate this installment and I went back and forth between 3 and 4 stars. I think I’m going with 3.5 stars. Why you ask? Well, this may seem like a very stupid reason, but this book irritated me quite a bit. Don’t get me wrong...I LOVE this series. I love all of the books so far and all of the characters that we have been introduced to and been on the various SAVE THE WORLD crisis’ with.

I love Reagan, Penny, Emery, Darius, Penny’s mom (can’t think oof her name at the moment)....anyway, you get the gist. But...this book began to annoy me when the female MC who is supposed to be the most powerful ...whatever she is...is so freaking clueless. And besides being clueless, she’s becomes so freaking selfish.

Come on...she never ever goes to visit the pack? The pack who saved her life and without them she would never have made it to their destination? And she never thinks to ask about casualties? And she never ever realizes that her loved ones are being treated like crap...no, worse than crap?

I could go on, that’s how much it annoyed me.

I guess the MC sort of makes up for it at the end. Sort of, its still not enough for me, but it didn’t make this book any easier for me to stomach.

Don’t get me wrong. I’ve already said I love this series. It just pissed me off while I was listening/reading this and any book that annoys me is never off to a good start.

Other than that - it was a nice progression of the story arc and I’m looking forward to what Roger/Darius/Reagan/Penny, and the gang have in store for the arrogant bad guys!

Can’t wait!!

Fantastic!

Loved, loved, loved this book! K.F. Breene is absolutely amazing in my opinion. I've read most everything she has written and they've all been great. Once I start one of her books everything falls away and I become entranced in the world she has written.

This is the second and final book in the Warrior Fae series, which is part of a bigger series, Demon Days, Vampire Nights. If you've not read the entire series you should at least read the first in the Warrior Fae before reading this book.

Charity, with the help of Devon, his pack and a dual mage pair make it through the Realm to Charity's people, the Warrior Fae. Just in time too as Charity is unable to control her powers and is near death. With the help of her people, Charity is soon on the mend and trying to find her place. But there's something wrong here, why are these Warrior Fae not fulfilling their role in the Realm?

While Charity is trying to figure out what is going on around her, Devon is faced with making the hardest decision of his life. Does he just leave Charity, and his heart, behind and return to the Brink or was the Seer wrong?

I could go on and on about this book but I don't want to leave any spoilers. I whole heartedly recommend this book!
