Something New with St. Thérèse: Her Eucharistic Miracle
Though St. Thérèse of Lisieux lived a short, hidden life in a Carmelite monastery in a small town in France, she predicted that after her death the whole world would love her and promised to send a shower of roses, spending her Heaven doing good upon earth until the end of time. Something New with St. Thérèse is an invitation to readers to take further steps along the Little Way and into the Eucharistic Heart of Jesus.

A lovely story of a woman who was exceptionally holy and loved unconditionally.

Wow, talk about holy audacity!
Honestly, this beautifully bold-beyond-belief book totally blew me away! Once I started reading, I couldn't bear to put it down. My jaw hung on the ground the whole time. More than once, I lowered the book in a daze, blinking, wondering if I had merely imagined the words on the page. My first thought was, "No way. She's got to be kidding! I could never ask for this!" If it had just been the author herself who'd come up with the incredible idea she presents in these pages, I would have been shocked to death and probably wouldn't have continued reading once I realized what the "Something New" actually is. But, as Mrs. Andres goes to great lengths to explain, the breathtaking grace that she invites her readers to ask God for isn't her own idea. It comes straight from the heart of St. Therese, "the greatest saint of modern times." And St. Therese seems to insist (by tons of proof that Mrs. Andres presents) that all little souls should trustingly ask God for this miracle. I don't want to give too much away, because you really need to read it for yourself. Let me simply assure you that if you read this book, and gather the courage to ask for the grace that the Little Flower urges you to, your life could surely never, ever be the same again.
I have to be honest: I haven't yet built up enough bravery to ask this grace for myself. I suspect it will take several readings of this book to help me finally do it. But I have no doubt that for anyone who does, it would mark a point-of-no-return in their spiritual life. Enough said. Anyone who craves for profound union with Our Lord HAS to read this precious book!

This is most uplifting book I have read in ages. I came upon the kindle version quite by chance, purchased it, then forgot all about it until I started my current Saint Thérèse read for this the 150th anniversary year of her birth.
The best way to place Something New with Saint Thérèse: Her Eucharistic Miracle, is as a follow-on to 33 Days to Merciful Love: A Do-It-Yourself Retreat in Preparation for Divine Mercy Consecration which is actually what inspired the author. Not that I don't want you to read this book, but it will be MUCH better if you read Fr. Michael E. Gaitley’s book first. It provides the background to the ‘Something New’ which Ms. Andres wants you to understand and embrace.
As I was listening and reading this, I kept wanting to return to that book which I have not read in seven years, but which was life-altering when I did. We all, me included, think we understand, “The Little Way”. Even the name, “Little Way” belies a certain simplicity that is, and is not, true. It is as simple as Jesus’ command, “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.” -Matthew 11:28-30 and, “Truly I tell you, unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven. Therefore, whoever humbles himself like this little child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven.” -Matthew 18:3-4
In addition, oceans of ink inside and outside the Church have been spilled as to whether or not, “the Little Way” actually is new. I would just say that it is a refocusing on, or perhaps a microscopic enhancement of those two Gospel verses. Whereas previous Catholic saints set out to convince us how difficult it was to achieve Christ’s message, Thérèse says, “My Little Way is only new, because you have been trying to do it all yourselves. Jesus wants to do it for you. Now let Him!”
In Fr. Gaitley’s book, he explains this much better and in greater detail than I can in a short review, but that is a glimpse.
The purpose and focus of Ms. Andres’ book are to show us that Jesus wants to do SO MUCH for us, including, remain in us as in a tabernacle between Holy Communions. Fr. Gaitley also says this but does not go into the same detail or provide the extensive background from the Little Flower’s life which is contained in this book. That, for me is what made it such an uplifting book. I learned so much more about my patron saint and am now inspired to read and learn even more about her.

St Therese Miracle
• Lord granted her the grace of conserving the Sacramental Species within her heart. "I now bear within me day and night the adorable Eucharist." In other words, she requested and received the grace to allow her body to become a tabernacle.
• Quote from St Therese: May I say, from my vantage point as a very little soul who loves but is terrible at showing it in deeds, that even for me—let alone for one who, like St. Maximilian, loved unto death—fifteen minutes is simply not enough time. (p 122)
My Impressions
Sadly, many Catholics do not believe in the true presence of the Body and Blood of Christ in the Consecrated Bread and Wine of the Eucharistic. Even though there is strong evidence from the Bible that Christ said: "This is my body; this is my blood". As I heard one learned priest say: "Who are you going to believe? Jesus or someone else?"
If reading this book does anything to help Catholics change their perspective, I hope it at least helps generate a stronger reverence and desire for the receipt of Holy Communion.
The quote of the book that really affected me:
"I have a friend whose wife, when they dated, was not Catholic. She eventually became Catholic, but first, when they were courting and he explained to her our belief in the Real Presence in the Blessed Sacrament, she laughed at him and accused him of lying. When he protested that he was telling the truth, she had a convincing (or convicting, to him) objection: If, she said, you really believed this, you would be crawling on your knees to receive Him! You’d at least be going every day to receive Him. There’s no way, then, given your apparent indifference, that this is true."

June 15, 2022Though I had this book a year ago, I must admit I didn't start reading it until 3 weeks ago, and oh, my! ..., what I have missed! A full year in which I could have made the Act of Oblation over and over and begun to love Our Lord so much more! And to put my trust in Him completely! A million thanks to Suzie Andres! I can't even express how happy I am! But truly, this book couldn't have been better written by anyone else. In addition to learning so much more about St. Therese (every part so well researched and carefully thought out), the reader feels as though Suzie is a best friend or sister, writing very personally to her soulmate about her discovery of St. Therese' Eucharistic Miracle. You share her astonishment as well as the enjoyment of seeing this mystery unfold, all the while enjoying the charm of the author as well as that of St. Therese. But even more than reading, the best part is what happens to your relationship with dear Jesus when you take to heart what you will have read. I am so grateful for the many graces and choice blessings that God has mercifully showered upon me, as I try to follow St. Therese' Little Way and made the Act of Oblation. And so, on top of the millions of thanks to Mrs. Andres, I wish to add infinite thanks (if only I could) for the change this has made in my life. I am buying more copies to give to others, and I can hardly wait to read it again. Yep, it's that good! Don't be afraid to follow St. Therese! Everything is very solid! I was delighted to find that what I read in Mrs. Andres' book dovetailed perfectly with my reading weeks and months before (from the Holy Bible, from St. Faustina, from Drew Mariani's book Divine Mercy, and from St. Alphonsus Liguori's How to Pray at All Times. Something New ... is for everyone; I urge everyone to read it! ..., and most assuredly, anyone who does will not only enjoy reading it but also, cannot help but benefit from all the book reveals. Thanks to St. Therese for her Little Way and her Eucharistic Miracle, and thanks to Suzie Andres for sharing her discoveries with all!

A very delightful read. Suzie has a way to speak to everyday people and be grounded in the wonderful Tradition of the Church. She does a good job walking us through Therese's "something new," showing us other saints have shared this, and reassuring us - like a good friend of Therese - that yes this new thing can indeed be for us because it is meant for all people.

This book is so intuitively written and outlines a new aspect of St. Therese's teachings in such a beautiful way. Andres addresses all of my doubts and concerns and more by teaching her readers about the women in Therese's life and showing us how Therese led them and is asking to lead us. I cannot more highly recommend this book. Absolutely breathtaking.

There is nothing like this book for beauty and believability! I have read it several times and it continues to be a favorite. There are lots of books about St. Therese, but this one focuses on her Oblation and one particular aspect that the author concentrates on, so that we can make it our own.
