Over several generations and from humble beginnings, the Ellard family built up an impressive group of businesses, becoming highly respected in the area. Keith Ellard is largely responsible for their management and begins to find this role increasingly demanding. As his father’s health deteriorates, further responsibility falls upon him, and he struggles to cope. Under pressure, he makes an error of judgment, which causes his world to unravel. Keith battles to restore his equilibrium but has to cope with another chance event which begins to uncover a family secret, causing further turmoil in a family where grievances still exist due to decades-old family disputes. As the wider family grapples with these issues, will division or reconciliation result?
After a career in pharmaceutical research, I decided to write a novel set in the field, and Adverse Reaction was born. I became sufficiently hooked on writing and the characters that I'd created that I wrote five further novels in the Persford Series. Since then, I have written two standalone novels, A Form of Justice and Relative Error. Waves of Guilt was the first of a new series set by the sea in Broadstairs, Kent. The latest book in that series, Layers of Guilt has just been published in April 2021. Writing is my hobby and if people enjoy my stories it is such a lovely reward for me.
Your thoughts about your life are formed by the family history that you are told by your family. What happens when there are some secrets that are not the truth. How does finding out the truth change your prospective of your identity.
A good point is the family tree at the beginning of the book. That helps with the coherence in facts-time. 2 stars as this family's tale has dragged on for long pages while the whole story could have been told in half those pages,🙅🙅
This was just my kind of story with just enough family reality, it had a bit of everything but I did feel I got to know the family well and enjoyed the working out. of the tale,
I found this book a little hard to get into but perseverance got me through to a place where I could not put it down and by half way that was it I was 'dying' to know if my thoughts were the same as were as the story being told. The twists in the family genealogy and way it is told has you second guessing and I enjoyed this immensely.
