MBA grad student, loyal sister, obedient daughter: Rochelle is living up to her mother’s expectations. Then the Superflu pandemic sweeps over the entire world, killing nearly all of humanity. One by one, Rochelle’s closest family and friends fall victim to it. Rochelle waits for her turn. And waits. And waits. Gradually, she realizes she is one of the few survivors. All she has left is a historical landmark bar in the middle of the nation’s capital, and a few equally traumatized customers. How is she supposed to go on living, when everyone, everything, she knew is gone?
Across the continent, Kevin is a modern day cowboy, driving his big rig across the open country. When the Superflu claims his own people, Kevin desperately searches for help. Who will save the world?
Their quests will lead them to surprising, unexpected answers.
Lisa Harnish grew up mostly in Michigan, and relocated to Chandler, Arizona in 1995. Since then, she has worked professionally in marketing, data management and certification management. In 2002, Lisa took a weekend ceramics class, and was instantly addicted to clay. Since then, she has developed an ongoing ceramic art business and her porcelain pottery can be found in several art galleries in the Phoenix metro area. Most recently, the creative urge has taken her into the realm of writing fiction. “Consolidation” is her debut series of novels about surviving a worldwide pandemic. Lisa shares her home with an unruly canine pack affectionately referred to as “The Jerky Boys.”
Like many authors, Lisa loves to read, however, in recent years, she consumes most of her fiction in audio book format. Listening to books while making pottery is enormously relaxing. The book keeps the verbal side of the brain engaged, while the visual/three dimensional side is focused on the art. There’s no room for any of the crap in life to intrude. Lisa listens to a wide variety of sci-fi and fantasy fiction subgenres, including post apocalypse (obviously), military sci-fi, planet colonization, urban paranormal (vampires, werewolves, witches) and some fantasy.
Confluence is a post pandemic survival book and I really enjoyed reading it in these coronavirus times. It tells the story of Rochelle, who is one of the few survivors after a Superflu pandemic, and Kevin, who is a modern day cowboy. The story is very interesting and I couldn't stop reading. I liked the characters and the world building. I can't wait to read other books of this author.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
If you have read the first 3 Consolidation Books, you must read this.
I won't say anything more That might spoil this book. I cried happy thru the last 3 chapters (boys/men will still enjoy this and are not obligated to cry). It's good to read something that puts a bit of a positive spin on the aftermath of a pandemic
