Tina has been to the dark side and back. Nice to visit, but she certainly wouldn't want to live there. Now she's on a mission. According to an old lady standing in a particularly dark shade of dark, Tina is supposed to go figure out one of the big mysteries of the paranormal world. Whether Tina buys in to it or not, she'll take any excuse she can get to go science the snot out of Tell, because apparently he's the key.
Meanwhile, Tell has a case he can really sink his teeth into. Dragons. For serious. Sure, they don't breathe fire, they don't fly, and they're really just oversized lizards, but they're solid muscle and poison and are more or less invisible. So they've got their hands full, chasing the beasts around town trying to keep an ancient threat from resurfacing.
This adventure might turn out to be too much for Tina, though. Some doors, once you've opened them, you can't ever close them again.
I was not sure if I enjoyed this series of not. The author's writing style was not what I was use to. Either I am use to her style or this series is growing on me. I loved this book and I am looking forward to read the next book in the series.
I’m went back and put a version of this review on all of the books because all five are worthy of an all the way through read, as is some of the blog posts on her blog.
The author clearly puts a great deal of effort into the content, ie they’re not just throw some words on the KU page books; and the world building is interesting and thorough. I didn’t actually enjoy every aspect which I think is better. I read really fast - a couple of books a day typically - so if I’m not careful, I’ll accidentally skim and lose the plot. These plots and characters are different and complex, not typical urban fantasy, although they are urban fantasy books. I had to focus to keep all the threads in my mind which shows a far greater skill of storytelling. I also didn’t love every character and I didn’t love every aspect of the main character but, and this is important, a real person isn’t always perfectly loveable. People are complex and great books have real people as characters. I highly recommend this series. It definitely develops and grows and is well worth the read.
Hello and welcome to book 3 of an ongoing series. If you’re seeing this review, I assume you have read and enjoyed the previous books OR you just really love reading this series just to hate on it.
Each book in the series just keeps me hooked and I have very little complaints about them. The human-vampire dynamic/partnership/friendship, the complexity of a mortal dating an immortal being, the lack of foul language or any graphic content, and just the way these characters are written and stories are told has this shaping up to be a favorite series for me. I love that Tina is so scientific but also has emotional outbursts…it’s refreshing for a character to be scientific and logical while also being emotional and somewhat impulsive to a certain extent.
I’m curious to see how the events at the end will affect further developments into all relationships (both romantically and platonically). It’s something that I knew was coming eventually but I didn’t think it was going to be in this book.
Tina, the perfect heroine in Chloe Garner’s Tell, The Detective series, may have not had an auspicious start when she walks into the office of paranormal detective Tell to dee if he can find her parents’ murderer, but this leads to a pretty darn amazing change in her life as she becomes Tell’s assistant and over the course of four fantastic books, Tell Me A Secret (Book 1), Tell It Like It Is (Book 2), Show and Tell (Book 3) and Time Will Tell (Book 1), she experiences extraordinary adventure and much more. This is highly addictive stuff. So good that I could not put the books down, addictively reading them over a holiday weekend with barely a pause fir food or sleep. My husband was quite annoyed with me, but it was worth it. A pure adrenaline blast of fun with a perfect set of lead and supporting characters, and superbly written plots that were just plain fun to read. I most definitely highly recommend each of these books.
I love this series SO MUCH. It’s got this 1950s sensibility about it, the MC is a judgmental square who is nonstop sex-worker shaming (which I could really do without). But the fact she’s so uptight makes it fun to watch her evolve, especially into someone I wasn’t expecting. The love interest is the ultimate romance novel cliche on the surface yet it never unfolds how I expect. I love that the lead characters are a man and woman who are both attractive and great partners and love each other, but just as friends (I mean I have two more books but it’s looking like it’s staying that way). They aren’t trying hook up, solely because they aren’t feeling it - a one-of-a-kind dynamic for the genre, where usually there’s a very a specific reason if any in guy in the book isn’t hitting on the MC.

This kept me on the edge of my seat. Tension at an all time high. Cant wait to see what happens in the next book.
Come on back with Tina, Tell and another problem that needs to be solved, this time another group of paranormal are disappearing and it appears they they are falling prey to a beast that went extinct a long long time ago. Dragons are apparently alive again after Tell helped exterminate them a very long time ago, how is this happening and can Tell and Tina possibly save the people who the dragons see as a food source. Got questions? Well you came to the right place, I recommend you buy this book and read the whole story to find the answers, You won’t regret it;)
The story is most definitely more intense in the 3rd book in the series. This is so testing my ethos of no spoilers as I want to give the game away but I can’t. Tina is most definitely holding her own in this episode and is also changing the way Tell handles himself, in a good way. For me it was quite a sad ending. However it’s still full of action and excitement. I couldn’t read it quick enough. Looking forward to the next book which promises to be even better . This is such a MUST read series. Don’t miss it.
Congratulations to Chloe Garner for amazing series. It’s hard to find such an interesting and exciting author who not only writes intelligently but also provides top rated plots, characters and excitement in the stories. I’m really looking forward to the next book in the series.
Wow poor Tina leads a very strange and dangerous life filled with many unexpected twists and turns that she has to learn to deal with quickly. Highly Thrilling read from start to finish. An amazing creating Collins with complex characters and situations! Loved it!
I love the character development and the relationships as well as the explanations as the story moves in a way that makes sense and is believable. Love this author!!!
3 1/2 stars rounded up. I liked the start and the ending of this book a lot, the middle dragged a little for me. The end feels kind of inevitable, but I'm still a bit sad about it. Anyways, we'll see what it brings for the next book.
Ok, so I still struggle with the single chapter book, but wow, . Plenty of action and intrigue. Tina is now supernatural, just as I thought she would/should be, so things are going to get even more interesting. Then there is Hunter... Looking forward to reading 📚book 4!
Loved it. Feeling under the weather, took a bit longer to read than I like, but was happy as always when I finished it just now. Hunter, Tell, Tina, Ginger, and the rest of the gang are a great vampire, paranormal group. Can hardly wait for the next in the series. Highly recommend.
