Willow Bay #3

Over Time

Rate this book
I’ve been keeping secrets from my roommates, but my one-night stand just outed me. Now they knew I was bi, and that I just hooked up with one of the professors at our school.

They wanted to know why I wasn’t the happy-go-lucky guy I was before going home for the summer, but I’m not ready for them to learn why.

Everything changed for the worst this summer.

It was a secret that kept me up at night. A secret that devastated me to the point I wasn’t sure if I’d ever be the same again.

How could I concentrate on school when my whole world was upside down? I had more important things to worry about. Namely, my one-night very drunken stand who kept showing up in my life.

Ford pulled out, causing me to whine from losing our connection. He pulled my office chair around and sat down in it. "Come sit on my dick and bounce." He spread his legs wide and tapped his thigh.

i fucking loved this. i swooned and i was aroused and everything is just forgiven. the first book packed so much sexual tension with lesser steamy scenes while in this it was just overflowing. i wasn't blown away by this book but girl it got me, again, in a chokehold. i couldn't put it down even though the majority of the interactions between ford and xander were hot and cold. to me, it felt i never really experienced peace for the two of them until like the last two chapters. man, i just fucking loved this. nothing critical for me to say even if there were my overall enjoyment for this story literally overcame everything. i guess its time to add another 5 stars.

Over Time is an incredibly fast paced forbidden love story between a troubled football player/student and his professor. Ford and Xander have an encounter over the summer and once fall semester starts they have learn the truth about each other.

Xander, as the professor is devastated and embarrassed and refusing to continue their dalliance, while Ford is determined to continue with their secret hook ups. What happens is a series of blackmail attempts and other desperate attempts at continuing this forbidden relationship.

Overall I enjoyed Over Time, I found both characters interesting, which each guy having serious hurdles that needed to be overcome. This is a story that is entertaining, while also diving into some more personal topics, which makes for a well balanced story.

The chemistry is off the charts, but I had issues with Ford, it is difficult in some parts not to hate him, especially when he threatens in order to obtain what he wants and so on. Despite understanding his suffering, I had issues in reading some parts nevertheless

Awesome cover😎. Some unnecessary drama and some teenager-level over exaggeration but overall mostly a good book.

RTC But there’s a huge issue with this book…

I’ve read the first book in this series and even though I couldn’t remember much, I did retain a few things and then had to look them up to make sure. The epilogue of book 1 takes place 4 years later and has Ford settled down with his longtime girlfriend and that doesn’t fit this timeline at all. Not to mention, the guy who was living at their house to cook in exchange for rent wasn’t Ford, it was Ridley however there’s no mention of Ridley in this book at all. I’m super confused.

Also confusing…
*When I looked up the first book to double check, I started reading it and liked it much more than the two stars I gave it previously. 🤣 I’m in like wacko world or something. WTF.

Ford doesn’t really like his life and he’s just going through the motions. He has a one night stand with one of his teacher, Xander. And they end up falling in love.

I really love their dynamic. I like how Ford took control of Xander and bossed him around. I really like these types of trope subversions in books and I loved how it was done in this one. I really enjoyed how the romance in this one was on the darker side and how it wasn’t always all roses, but it really worked for the couple. I really enjoyed the romance in this book.

I really enjoyed the romance in this one. It was kind of really sweet, even if it was meant to be as it was on the darker side of things but it was and that really worked for me.

I really liked the communication in this book. I really enjoyed the easy way in which their talked to each other and how they were each other’s safe space

I really enjoyed how the student / teacher trope was done in this book. I really liked how forbidden it made the entire book seem. That just really worked for me.

Also, the steamy scene in this one were super hot and I really enjoyed them.

I really enjoyed the concept of this book and I had a good time reading the book but I wish that every plot points and the romance were more developed. I just felt like the book didn’t go into enough details for me. I just wanted more of everything.

Also, this book was just a little too dramatic for me, as this just isn’t my prefered thing in books.

I received an ARC of this book and this is my honest opinion

yeah no I’m done. with this series and the author. I gave book one about 2 stars but decided to give the series another chance. especially with the blurb(student x teacher), but there’s not a single aspect of this book that was even remotely close to good. The mmc’s were just unlikable and don’t know if it’s the tone or writing but it wasn’t working for me.

“Why did it hurt to know I had less than three weeks with him? Or possibly just tonight?”

They’ve slept together once and one of them don’t even know the other’s name

“Maybe I could pick up someone, slip my dick inside a hole, and forget for a little while”

yeah I don’t want to be around for that. Byeeee✨

I feel like their relationship was just lust and not them. Like I wish we got more Xander and Ford moments. Like Ford was an asshole to Xander for most of the book until the end. I just wish we got to see them grow as a couple. Also the entire relationship just felt very rushed.

Ford's hot night came with consequences he certainly could not have foreseen. Unfortunately, the gorgeous guy turns out to be one of his professors, and Xander doesn't want anything to jeopardize his career. So what will it take from Ford to get him to continue their forbidden encounters? Blackmail of course...and now they're both insanely addicted to each other. How can a forbidden relationship work between a professor and his student? Especially a student who's closed off, angry, and not about to open himself up to anyone?

Oh damn but this professor romance is HOT! It's everything I like about the professor trope: deliciously hot, forbidden and secretive, with two people who know they shouldn't be together but can't help themselves. What's different about it is that the power is skewed toward Ford rather than his professor. Ford is the dominant one in and out of the bedroom, he's the one blackmailing Xander, and he's the one who's holding back his feelings. But Xander's not without his own strength, he's the only one who's able to bring Ford some peace, and he offers stability so desperately needed by the tortured younger Ford. Really the only reason I couldn't rate this 5 stars is because the maturity difference between the two was so striking that it threw me. Ford was kind of unlikable because his pain drove his actions, and caused a disconnect for me. But I liked everything else about this story - it's got a lot of heart, the chemistry is ridiculously hot, and the story is entertaining, all the reasons why I do so love professor stories.

Oh wow Ford and Xander are on fire in Over Time by Ella Kade. This forbidden teacher student MM romance is holy hotness all the way. The chemistry between them is explosive. With the added complex emotions and scarred hearts, it was an amazing read.

Ford is having a hard time adjusting to college after his life turned upside down. His friends and roommates have tried to make him talk but he is closed off and angry and bitter. The gorgeous man from bar was supposed to be a way to relieve some pressure. But Xander has burrowed under his skin. And he is also Ford's Econ professor. They shouldn't be into any kind of relationship but Ford has almost blackmailed him into something so delicious. And Xander cannot let go of this broken boy.

The power dynamic of this couple is really interesting. Ford is younger and at a student but he is the one controlling their relationship. You would sometimes hate him because his coping mechanisms can be really toxic and hurtful to others. He is hurt and so he is lashing out on everyone. My heart aches for his pain and heartbreak. Xander is more mature obviously and he slowly got inside Ford's wall. And he gave Ford a safe space to let out his pent up anger and frustration. This was fast and super dirty. So freaking hot. Dirty. Filthy. Complete undiluted passion. But the emotional part was there too. The push and pull of a forbidden love was so good. You will feel Xander's dilemma and Ford's aggressive persuasion. Ford did hurt him but that was because of his own heartache. Xander healed him too. Ford's friends are pretty amazing too and I want to read about them too.

I really do love me some MM stories and Ella Kade didn't disappoint at all.

It was angsty, emotional and so dang steamy, thought my kindle was gonna catch on fire. And the forbidden nature of the story made it that much better.

M/M romance with a few twists that will keep you glued till the end.

What to expect:

-Forbidden Relationship
-Professor/Student
-Blackmail
-Dark Themes
-Age Gap

This is the third book in the Willow Bay series and it follows Ford's character this time. You should know this is a darker Ford this time around and this book has a lot of angst, drama, and steamy moments.

Ford, has secrets and uncontrollable anger issues when returning from summer break to start his junior year of college. He has lost his way, he's no longer that guy who smiled and laughed, he's more of the guy with a lot of tension and anger surrounding him now. He uses alcohol and random hookups to numb his pain and anger. Trying to forget his family issues Ford ends up drunkenly hooking up with a Professor from his school at a bar a town away. What started as a one night stand becomes an obsession for Ford to deal with his pain by using Xander his Professor and he isn't above using blackmail to get what he wants this time.

Xander is a Professor at Willow Bay and normally makes good decisions except when it comes to Ford. Xander realizes it's not good for his career to be hooking up with a student even though school hasn't officially began, but he likes the dominance Ford brings to their sorta relationship. Even with all the obstacles thrown at these two the one thing that stands out is the need to be with one another no matter the consequences. Blackmail was used but feelings evolve. Expect to see a dark, angry, dominant Ford and a level-headed, calm, and sympathetic Xander collide together to try and find their way through many issues to be together.

I voluntarily signed up for an ARC to give my honest opinion/review with nothing to gain. I definitely recommend this book if you have read this series thus far, because Ford is one character that has a completely different vibe from the previous books. I loved the angst, suspense, and overall spicy moments this book has. So if you like the forbidden romance and even a little Dom/sub relationships this is a great book to grab.

This forbidden student/teacher romance will have you needing a cold shower. It also will tug at your heartstrings. Ford and Xander are fire but they both have things to get through, mainly Ford. I wanted to hate him at times but also understood where he was coming from. Loved the friends trying to be there for him.

We meet Ford, a Willow Bay University football player who lives with his roommates who are other football players as well as his friends and Oz’s sister, Lo Everyone congregates in the kitchen as a guy walks out the door of Ford’s bedroom and leaves the house. Everyone is shocked that it’s a professor from the university. Ford then tells everyone that he is bi.

Ford meets Xander, a professor from school at a bar where they head to Xander’s house to have sex.

I absolutely loved the time line and progression of Ford & Xan’s relationship. I can’t wait for Dani & Declan’s book

Another great addition to this wonderful series.

I loved Ford in the previous book and this just cemented that love. He came from Summer break, broken and moody. Met Xander and their Insta attraction is hella smexy.

I love the taboo of their relationship, the strength Xander gives Ford, how Ford opens up to Xander first. The bond these have is amazing.

Throughly enjoyed

I was excited to delve into Ford's book since I loved his character in book one.

Ford is a much different character in Over Time than he is in First Down due to events that happened over summer break. When he returns to college, he is full of anger, sadness, and despair that needs an outlet. Ford's outlet of choice? Sex.

A drunken hookup with a professor turns into several blackmail attempts as Xander tries (and fails) to put an end to whatever this relationship is with his student, and Ford tries to cling to the remnants of their 'relationship'. Neither of them want to let go of the other, despite the possible repercussions.

This book was incredibly quick-paced, and while I wasn't always a fan of how bossy and rude Ford could be to Xander, it was understandable given his mental state and his circumstances. I do wish we'd gotten to see a little more of a shift in Ford's behaviour rather than going straight from asshole to good guy.

Also - there seemed to be some mix-ups between the epilogue of book one and this book? I swear in the epilogue of First Down (which took place four years after the conclusion of book one), it was stated that Ford was happy with a woman, and also that Ridley was the one who was cooking for the guys since he couldn't afford rent and was about to open his own restaurant... but then in book three, it's Ford who's in that position and Ridley isn't mentioned once?? Did anyone else notice that?

From the very first page this story set the pages on fire! In a tale of forbidden romance, a painful past, and a young man full of complexities that sometimes make him hard to like, readers will find themselves captivated from start to finish.

Ford is a young man who's clearly hurting when this story begins, lashing out at his friends and roommates for what's befallen him since readers last saw him. Seeking to ease his pain for even a short bit of time he finds himself drawn to his one-night stand, Xander, in a relationship that doesn't end with one night as the man ends up being one of Ford's teachers. The connection between these two is combustible from the start, and despite it being forbidden, Ford sets out to keep their connection going through blackmail. Ford's a compelling character, someone whose hurt radiated off him and it made his anger and questionable behavior a bit easier to understand. But at the same time his manipulations of Xander made me cringe. He's a larger than life young man, controlling and abrasive early on, but as he spent more time with Xander the wall around his heart started to crack and real feelings emerged. Seeing him heal, with each turn of the page, warmed my heart and balanced out this steamy story beautifully. Xander's a likable character and a great match to Ford despite their steamy and questionable start. Xander gives Ford the room to be angry while giving him acceptance. Though he knows their relationship is forbidden he can't help being drawn to Ford in an angsty dark romance between two very different people.

Fans of m/m romances will get quickly caught up in this forbidden romance and its dichotomy of emotions, its unique power dynamic, and the angsty and intense feelings Ford experienced. It's a fast-paced read, erotically-charged, and readers will feel parched upon reaching the end. Though this is the third installment in the Willow Bay series it's not necessary to have read the previous books to enjoy this one. Reading the first two installments though will make this a more richly rewarding story that will leave readers wanting to read more from Ella Jade!

The previous books in this series have been a little angsty, but this one turned super dark. Ford, who has been living with Fin, West, Oz and Lo, has always been an easygoing guy. He’s the one who moved in when Fin bought the house to move out of the dorms. I saw him somewhat like a hanger on, except he was nice and a good friend to the guys. When he couldn’t pay rent, they arranged that he would clean and cook for them, and it has been a great arrangement for all.

They’re starting their Junior year, but Ford came back from summer vacations completely changed. Dark, cranky, in some sort of pain combined with anger, but he won’t tell anyone what’s wrong. Instead of the nice, easygoing guy now they have this jerk that when questioned too closely will jump down their throats. What used to be a joy, to cook for his friends, is now seen as drudgery.

One night he went to the bar to drown his sorrows, found this gorgeous black man, older, and they have a connection. Ford brought him home for a one night stand, and to the surprise of everyone, the one-night stand turned out to be a Willow Bay professor!

This starts a dark story of how Ford got addicted to Zander and some parts were not very nice. Luckily, Zander is older and wiser and knew how to handle a hot-headed guy. Both were prisoners of their longing for each other, and it was at times painful, at other times, very encouraging.

I love angst, so I was in heaven reading this story. There was one part where I could cheerfully smack Ford, he got so hateful, but I understood it was his pain talking. The author wrote a great story with very strong feelings. The pace was great, the friends were caring and concerned, there were a lot of sexy times, and you can feel the love as it grows on them.

Wow just wow , I seriously was not prepared for how quickly I was going to fall in love with Overtime ( the third installment in the ( Willow Bay Series) or all the emotions I was going to feel while reading . But then again I really should not be surprised as it was written by Ella Kade who is not only crazy talented but is also one of my very favorite authors . She has this wonderful gift of knowing just how to grab onto all your emotions so tightly and pull you into each and every one of her books . OverTime is the perfect example of just that !! If you are a fan of M/M and student / teacher romance as well as forbidden and age gap then you are definitely not going to want to miss Ford and Xanders emotional journey and it’s far from a easy one but I guarantee once you meet these two you will be so freaking captivated . Both so likable and relatable yet unique , intriguing and very multi layered at the some time . Angsty , emotional, heartbreaking , heartfelt, second chances , off the charts chemistry, love , romance, drama , family , relationships, unexpected surprises, combustible off the charts chemistry, complexities , misunderstandings, humor , witty bater , tragedy and so much more . Emotional rollercoaster, unforgettable and unputdownable are only 3 words I would use to describe this phenomenal book / series . Prepare yourself for all the feels as I can guarantee you will laugh , you will cry and you will find yourself rooting so hard for both Zander and Fords happy ending

I have loved this series as one of the best by this author and always look forward to the next story. This time was Ford’s story, but it isn’t the story that I expected.in the other books, Ford was an open-minded, supportive friend. The road to his happily ever after doesn’t take the path you may have expected. When Ford comes back to school for his junior year something has changed. He had a devastating summer, but he refuses to tell his friends about it. He is a storm cloud of rage and despair blowing through. Ford seeks out distraction from the thoughts churning around in his head, including getting drunk at a bar in the next town over and hooking up with someone who was there two nights in a row. To keep himself from thinking, he keeps seeking out this partner even when it turns out that their relationship could have serious consequences. The connection with this person is so compelling he even shares the secret that he cannot stand to tell his friends, and keeps coming back night after night. I won’t tell any more so that you can discover Ford’s secrets for yourselves. I loved the characters and the story; they are Ella Kade Gold. This is a M/M story and is pretty explicit, so I would skip this one if they is not your cup of tea. While I think the reader gets more from these books when read in order, it would be possible to understand this story as a stand-alone. I am voluntarily submitting this review after reading an advanced complementary copy.

frustrating on many leverls

**Contains Spoilers** premise sounded interesting but I was very turned off by the blackmail and coercion aspects of their relationship. Had Xander been the student, that would have been all kinds of wrong, and I don't think it should be percieved any differently when Ford was the aggressor. it was just glossed over like that didn't matter, never addressed and no apologies exchanged.

There were several logical jumps throughout the book that made it hard to follow--we find out a lot of things happen in passing, like Ford deciding to try to apply late to change his major (and in doing so share his trauma with strangers) or starting therapy. since both decisions contribute to his healing I was surprised we didn't even get a full sentence to say they happened.

finally, no black professor would put themselves in this situation and never once consider that he would get less leeway or benefit of the doubt from the school should they be caught. the author seems to pick and choose when she was going to play up the fact that Xander is black and other times completely ignores it when it would make sense to mention how the character would be feeling/ reacting. and she randomly throws in that I guess Ford's siblings are black (or maybe brown?) with no context or follow up. he has an "olive complexion" so not sure why that was added or why she thought it was necessary

A page turning, steamy read about healing. It's full of forbidden themes and one broken, broody man and the professor who can't help fall for him, but it gripped me from page one and held me in it's emotional grips until the very last page.

I really liked this fast paced story, that wasn't filled with a lot of extra fluff. For the most part, Over Time was focused on Ford and the trauma he was going through along the relationship between Ford and Xander. There weren't fifty other side stories that needed wrapping up, nor was there a ton of extra angst that drug the story out ten hours keeping me up waaaaaaayyyy past my bedtime. I appreciated the consideration. LOL. Okay, all kidding aside, The story moves along at a very quick pace and that means I started and finished it within a few hours. It was engaging and page turning and I never once set it down to get another chore done.

Ford and Xander meet over the summer and neither knew they were teacher or student, but the attraction is already there and the path is already set. When the school year begins things definitely become complicated, but even more so with the emotional turmoil that is Ford's life. The professor inside Xander just wants to help him, even when Ford is nothing by dismissive of him, but these two are not only steamy together, but their emotional connection is fantastic.

An excellent, quick MM romance.

Having Away Game and First Down i instantly started looking forward to more from this world! As soon as this third installment was announced i couldn't wait to pick it up! I started reading it and got right back into the Willow Bay world! I so enjoyed this story!

Ford and Xander's journey pulled me in! When Ford has a one night stand, little does he know that it's his professor. I couldn't wait to see how everything would go for these two.

I've been so curious about Ford and was glad that i got to dig deeper with him. I wasn't sure what all to expect in Over Time and i really liked how that got me into it even more! I loved how Ford, Xander, and this story had me feeling so much throughout reading! I couldn't wait to see how they'd tackle things in their lives. The chemistry and heat between these two was so great!

I really enjoyed the whole forbidden aspect of this story! It was awesome being back in the Willow Bay world as well!

With Over Time, Ms.Kade has created such a good read that made me feel so much! I can't wait to dive back into the Willow Bay world with the fourth installment, Off Sides!

I enjoyed the writing in the book but it was really hard to like Ford for the majority of the book. All he did was whine and complain about how unfair his life is. He thought what he was going through was worse than anyone else’s trauma and that wasn’t cool. Xander lost his parents years ago in a horrible accident and even after knowing how much it hurt to lose your parent he didn’t once offer his condolences to Xander. He was an asshole to Xander most the time which made it hard for me to feel their chemistry and get why he even liked Ford. I felt like Xander was like every annoying teenage girl in a bully romance who let their body dictate everything. Ford was threatening to tell the school about their relationship if Xander didn’t keep sleeping with him and yet that made Xander more turned on? It was weird and uncomfortable. But nonetheless Ford did redeem himself a little even though it didn’t happen til like 80% and I feel like he could have redeemed himself way more. The last 20% of the book was my favorite where we got to see more romance between them and not just sex. I’m interested in the next book so I will be reading that one.

Over Time is the third in the Willow Bay series following Ford from previous books but this is his story and I've been dying to read it. College student Ford is really going through it, he's angry and lashing out. He's barrelling through a list of drunken insignificant hookups. That is until one night of passion with Xander, only problem is Xander is a professor at Willow Bay but that's not going stop Ford. Elle Kade brought us a seriously hot and dark romance filled with obsession and want. I absolutely loved Ford and Xander! Xander had some serious self restraint with Ford's persistent advances but ultimately couldn't deny his attraction. This was a fast paced read with so much steamy filth, I absolutely loved it!!

*Recived an arc from the author in return for my honest review*

I loved the pacing in this book because this has some serious drama but the fast pace keeps it balance. And I absolutely loved Xander but Ford gave me some troubles in the first half of the book there were instances where it was really hard to like him and sympathise with him especially over the way he treated Xander. If not for this I would have enjoyed this book a whole lot more because it had all the right elements that I look for in a romance book (and lots of smut which is very very important right!)
I also loved the friendship dynamic of Ford with his roommates. I haven't read earlier books in the series yet but I'm really curious now. I also loved how the book addressed some really sensitive topics and how it showed the growth of both the characters throughout the book. I ended up loving Ford in the end too!

So definitely pick this up if you love forbidden romances with teacher and troubled student dynamic, burning chemistry between the characters with heavy smut and amazing frienships and character growths.

Over Time was a really good read! This series stays true to the aspects of how these characters are struggling with different aspects of life.

Over Time was a steamy one night stand to benefits to lovers type romance! This is also a teacher/student, MM romance. Ford and Xander were so great! Xander was the light to Ford’s dark. Ford is broody, but is dealing with so much that he needs to figure out life. Xander has his own worries but he is definitely has a calmer sided. This book was great easy read. I really enjoyed seeing these two figure out what they wanted. I also enjoyed getting more from past characters. This group is really a family and they are there for each other no matter what.

I really enjoy this series and reading more and more about these characters. I can’t wait for Dani’s book. She truly stuck out to me in this book and it definitely built up to an attention grabbing story! I definitely think all should check out Over Time and the Willow Bay series!

It was nice and interesting teacher - student romance. Xander is a really a good person with plenty greater character traits. It was lovely reading about him, his interactions and wise words. He is full of passion and understanding. Ford on other hard is really complicated, with explosive character and pretty aggressive personality. He keep secrets, to be honest secrets which are not the secrets and even if I understand he didn’t want to really speak about, it bothered me how he acted about this all situation. Made me quite angry at him for making such a big secret of something what really wasn’t one. This one did really ticked me off. This and as well the fact that Xander did take all abuse, agressivity and blackmailing just like that. I liked it but didn’t like it. Loved it but have some reserve. It was very well written as always. They made perfect pair at the end. And it was beautiful after all.
