I'm just a simple small town country girl, haunted by Alpha Men who talk in my head 24 hours a day.

I knew I wanted to write when it became clear I couldn't be happy with just viewing other people's stories. I always wanted to rewrite them.

Like why did Jack have to die? Why couldn't Rose move her butt over? Because that was a huge piece of wood she was on, people.

Happy Endings should be fought for, but they should always happen. Mine might take some curves and twists, but they eventually get there.

Having published over fifty stories, it always feels surreal that this is my life. Hitting USA Today had me crying for days, but nothing is more special than hearing from readers that they loved one of my books.

A growly, grumbly mountain man?
Yes PLEASE!

Braden was absolutely perfect, scars and all.
Ophelia was the quirkiest and sassiest heroine and put Braden in his place. I loved watching Braden’s hard outer shell slowly break off, revealing his swoony, soft and caring center.

And Bogo...he kinda stole the show sometimes.

This short and sweet and sexy read is exactly what I needed.

The couple: Braden and Ophelia

Romance genre: mountain man
Series: Thickwood, CO
Length: 89 pages

Plot: Braden was a firefighter injured in an accident who has now sought refuge in the mountains. Ophelia is a free spirit going where the spirit takes her. These two meet up by accident but stay together by design.

Commentary: Cute pet (it's a pig, just to be clear. It's not sure). This is a pretty stereotypical story - scarred her, hiding out, brought back to life by the love of a sunshine-dappled extrovert. It was a good entry in the series. I actually prefer some of this author's other works (my favorites? Filthy Florida Alphas (Box Set) : The Complete Series (MC) and Eleven (sci-fi)) but this was an entertaining read.

Previous book in the series: The Mountain Man's Obsession
Next book in the series: Taming the Mountain Man

She finds more in Thickwood than she thought❣️

Ophelia is travelling through Thickwood and stops to enjoy the mountain and all that that entails. She finally realises she’s lost and Bogo, her pet, is giving her looks of frustration when they run across a bonafide grouchy mountain man😜

Braden doesn’t like letting people in and has basically withdrawn from society apart from one friend Judd. He finds he’s more attracted to Ophelia than he likes even though she comes across as slightly cuckoo and a bit hippy❣️

A great short story with a bit more BACON filling that expected😂❤️

Braden has scars, both inside and outside. That's why he holes up in his cabin in the mountains. Ophelia is a free spirit who ends up getting trapped on the mountain he owns. It's a rough start but this story hooked me right off. I needed to know what happened to Braden and why he was so resistant to Ophelia. Can one hot time together turn into something more or will he tell her to leave? Not really a lot of drama and the story just rocks!

Maybe it’s just me, but I think the title of this book is a little bit misleading. Branded by the Mountain Man sounds kind of filthy (not in a bad way) and this book is anything but that.

If anything, this book was actually quite sweet and romantic. The hero was gruff but he softened up to the quirky heroine pretty quickly. Overall I enjoyed this read!

Awesome read!

A feel good read. Loved this couple. Braden needed Ophelia to wake up the love he had in him. It had me from beginning to the end. I couldn’t put it down. I read it straight through.

This one was SO much better than the first book in this series. The heroine is just the right blend of sassy and her pet Bogo stole all the scenes he was in. Perfect little novella in my opinion.

Divertida, dulce y fácil. No hay mucho conflicto en la historia, lo que hace que esta sea una lectura agradable y con poca angustia. La relación se desarrolló rápidamente, pero se sentía natural.

Forgettable. Extremely Short & Cliche

Really disappointed by Jordan Marie with this poor quality, done a thousand times before, basic and very cliche short story. The pets were cute and I could have liked the character's if they had been flushed out more, hence the 2 stars. But I just don't get the point of producing something that is a much shorter, much more basic version of something already flooding Amazon.

Found this while visiting the author's page, checking if she ever wrote a book for Latch, a character from her Devils Blaze series. I hate to say it but after loving most of her Devils Blaze and Savage Brothers books and giving them 4 & 5 stars, I think her writing and stories have gone seriously down hill. I found all her new MC books, like Devil and Diesel, really boring, badly written and with huge, irritating plot problems. I know it can be difficult to make money as a writer and many authors seem to resort to churnng out poor quality books like a conveyor belt, maybe that's what's happened but as a result Jordan Marie is no longer an immediate purchase for me, which is really disappointing.

If you've read one of these short novellas flooding Amazon by the likes of Jenika Snow and Nicola Snow etc, with their ridiculously stupid ten page long sex scenes, no story and no character depth, then you'll have already read this. Forgettable and pointless. If you want a better version of a fun, quick, sexy novella, go check out Brill Harper's books

A Sweet and "Awwww" Inducing Story of Love Overcoming Trauma...

When I first came across this series, I found it very similar in story landscape and feel to that of Jenika Snow's "Bear Clan" books. And at first, I will admit I wasn't fully convinced that a whole series of plain ol' mountain men, no matter how gruff and grumbly, would be interesting enough to hold my attention. But then two things grabbed me out of my hesitation. One, each book in this series is written by a different author making each installment a unique take; and two, each is steeped in angst, such as overcoming some deep rooted odds, physical and/or emotional trauma, loss, etc..

This particular book, "Branded by the Mountain Man" by Jordan Marie, is the second installment in the series. It is the story of Brayden, a former firefighter torn from his world by a horrific accident that left him scarred and emotionally broken. An accident that plunges him into a solitary world high on his mountain, where he builds a new life hidden far away from prying eyes. And Ophelia, a free spirited, wandering web designer, staight out of another era. Who, with her trusted companion Bogo, camps out high in the mountains of Thickwood looking for a bit of adventure on her way to Denver, but finds herself face-to-face with the closed off and grumpy mountain man instead.

What follows is actually a surprisingly sweet and "awww" inducing story of love overcoming trauma. A heartfelt and well plotted tale of a woman truly seeing a man for what he is, her soulmate, and not the scars on his body or mind. It is also a story that will see you absent mindedly rubbing your chest, and perhaps even shedding a tear or two, over the enormous pain buried deep inside Brayden's soul. A man lost to the world after events so devastating, he is unable to see past his own physical image. Instead hiding himself away like a long forgotten child's toy.

Here Jordan Marie writes something poignant yet witty. Full of quick and sarcastic rich dialog that will have you cracking up with laughter. The chemistry she presents between Ophelia and Brayden is palpable. The care and tenderness, the absolute emotional honesty she presents from each character, spell binding and irrevocably entrancing. It is also a quick and easy read that will have you sighing with girly joy by the end.

A highly enjoyable way to spend a couple of rainy afternoon hours (or any other hours).

Brayden is a firefighter that was involved is an horrific accident that left him scarred and emotionally broken, so he is a former firefighter I should say. This accident sent him high up on a mountain to live a live alone. He builds his new live away from the outside world and prying eyes.
Now Ophelia is a woman straight from a different time era. She is a wandering web designer who is a very free spirit. Camping out on the mountain with BOGO she is looking for an adventure only to come face to face with her greatest adventure yet.

Braden and Ophelia are complete opposites but they do say they attract. All he wants to do is live his life away from prying eyes especially after his accident. She is this happy person that always sees the good things in life. Something that he didn't know he needed till she stumbled into his life with her pet pig. I laughed, I cried, I wanted to throw my Kindle, and it played like a movie. This book had me wanting to go search the mountains for my own mountain man.
I love Jordan Marie and have read everything from her. This book was no different. I love it when an author participates in a series like this because you get a taste of writing from each author. And it's just enough to wet your whistle on each. These series usually can go one of two ways, all authors take it completely left and you get lost or bam its an amazing hit and they all come together.

I liked the IDEA of the story. I just was not a fan of this one.

Opehelia is a free spirit who is a little quirky. I thought she was funny and weird but I liked her character. Then we have the brooding mountain man...sadly can't even remember his name because his character was awful for me.

His character had only one development...he learned love again.
Her character development SLID BACKWARD!

I get it, some of us have physical abnormalities/things showing we aren't the "norm" (which I hate). But I truly felt like this was so smackdown hurtful, not just to all of us who have to deal with situations like this, but also to the main female character. She is a social person and loving and caring and he basically has her locked away in a tower.

Definitely not a favorite and I was really disappointed that he couldn't even just TRY to step out of his comfort zone so they could actually have a social life. Plus, if he's that screwed up, he needs to see a psychologist...not even therapist. Some of us who do have physical characteristics that make us stand out and we don't have a choice, this was a way to drag us under the bus. Not cool man.

Scares that run deep

He was living alone because he has some bad scares from an accident he had a few yrs ago plus his so called gf dumped him because of the scares. She's a free spirit and has a pet pig who thinks he's a poodle. They gotten lost on a trail hiking. He shows up scaring her and tells her she trespassing and to leave. She sprained her ankle and he takes her to her van. A few days later the rain continue and he's worries about her. She had no problem arguing with him and being sassy. He moved her up his mountain and she sees his scare but they don't bother her. Bogo her pig bites the devil out of him when he keeps raising his voice to his mama. A few more days later he goes to CK on her hears the pig whining and breaks a glass to get to her. She's burning up with fever he takes her home to take care of her and her pet. She stays with him and they both admit how they feel about each other.

Okay fast fluffy palate cleanse short story. Nothing new or special and just ok spice (1x).

I found the characters sort of annoying and more caricature. FMC seemed ditzy and too quirky to be real. MMC was rejected ONE TIME and isolated himself from the rest of the world and didn’t believe anyone could find him attractive after 1 b**ch rejected him. She falls insta-love but still makes him plead excessively with her not to leave him. Poor guy already had rejection issues, it felt like she was toying with him.

Like after living together for a month (summarized conversation):

‘I could park my van and live in your driveway’

‘You are NOT living in my driveway, your staying with me’

‘Okay, I guess I could park down the mountain and live in my van there’

‘Your staying here with me’

‘I can’t live in your house forever, maybe I’ll move to another city/ Denver’

WTF girl? Are you clueless or just manipulative?? SMH

First things first; I love the cover of this book!
Branded by the mountain man is book two in the ‘’thick wood co’’ series. This story is short, fast paced and an enjoyable read. I read this book in one sitting and was satisfied throughout. I found the writing style easy to follow, the characters loveable and the storyline enjoyable. Whilst lost in the woods, Ophelia meets a grumpy scarred mountain man. Braden isn’t happy to have a stranger on his mountain. As much as he tries to resist Ophelia, he soon finds himself falling.
The chemistry between Ophelia and Braden is clear to see and I liked them together. They made a cute couple.
I really liked Bogo in this story.
I really liked the ending and the epilogue for this story.
The storyline for this book is easy to follow and it is an enjoyable read.

Ophelia's personality is as quirky as her name. Her unconventional pet, named BOGO, had me smiling more in the 89 pages then I have in the entire past week. She is passing through the town of Thickwood, Colorado and finds herself lost on a mountain. Not just any mountain, but Braden's mountain. When Braden comes across her trespassing on his land he is less than happy to say the least. He's a recluse and likes to avoid people at all costs. No matter how much he tries to shake free from Ophelia things keep bringing them back together. Could Ophelia and her quirky nature and pet bring him out of his shell?

An extraordinary quick read with amazing comic relief, and a full story despite the short nature of this book.

Very good.

The 2nd book in the Thickwood, Colorado series. Two unlikely people meet when one is lost in the woods. Yes, Ophelia is out hiking with her pet pig Bogo. Unfortunately she is lost and Braden catches her on his land. He's so mad and turned on at the same time that he leads her out of the woods and back to her van vowing to never see her again. To say these two shouldn't get together is obvious. He is a grouch and she is a sweetheart. But bogo is the one that makes the story. Like he is the glue. I love that little piggy. Flipping through the pages something happens that makes Braden turn into protector instead of mister groucho. Will it be enough for Ophelia to accept him?

Me reading this book:
Hmm.. he is not a virgin. Why am I reading this? Ok.. well. Scarred hero. Ok. Damaged and grumpy. Have read this before. Lives isolated on a mountain, I have read this before. Oh.. girl with plucky attitude gets lost and injured on his mountain and needs assistance. I have read this before. Why am I reading this? Finally they have sex.. yes.. he makes her cum many times. Blah. Blah. I have read all this done better.. wait… hold up.. is he…. What the? And I quote “ slide my finger down the wet valley of her ass…”.
Yeah! He fingers her in the ass! That is new!
Now I gotta finish this book and see what else this scarred up mountain man might get up to!

(Luckily for me it is is only 76 pages!)

Jordan just has a way of writing the perfect, broken alpha-male that I can’t help to fall in love with and a heroine that is feisty and won’t take any shit off of said alpha male.

Boris is grouchy and mean when we first meet him but as we find out, he’s had a crap time trusting people. Especially when they let him down when he needed them the most. Ophelia is a breath of fresh air for him but of course he doesn’t recognize that at first. I tell you what though, she doesn’t let him get away with being a grumpy old man and I absolutely love her for it. This was a short story but it never felt rushed and I found myself trying to swipe for more pages just to read a little more about them.

Short and Sweet with a whole lotta Heart.

So in love with Ophelia and Braden. But most of all BOGO (aka Bacon on the Go or Bacon) stole the show. He had no dialogue but I was absolutely head over heels for the sassy swine.

The story itself was such a pleasant read. Ophelia was the perfect sweetness to balance out Braden’s bitter. Although, after meeting our free spirit heroine that bitter became bittersweet. I enjoyed every chapter and for once there isn’t a thing about Ophelia that I’m irritated about. She was a perfect concoction of organized mess that just radiated positive energy, which makes Braden’s nickname of Sunshine so fitting.

Seeing Your True Self

Ophelia and Braden are as opposite as you can be but have a lot in common at the same time. When she looks up into a tall mountain of a man after tripping she's captivated by his pure masculinity. Tall, dark, handsome and menacing looks at her with a deep frown and anger. She's trespassing but didn't realize it. That one look has them both taking a second glance but is that enough to open his heart to let love in? He's been alone for so long now. She just hopes he can see what she sees when looking at him.

Shining through the clouds
The author really did a fantastic job with this book! She brought humor and sunshine into one man's world of hurt and pain, making for a wonderful short read. I love that no matter the gruff exterior Ophelia was able to work her way under Braden's skin and leave her mark. with unusual pets and a little bit of miscommunication the author, and the characters, really won my heart. This book is a fantastic addition to the collection and I can't wait to see what the author brings my way next.

First I want to say I love this author!!! And I really needed to read something by her right now. (For future reference, this review is written amidst the Corona Virus pandemic.)

This story made me laugh so many times. I loved Ophelia!!! She is an absolute nut!!! Braden just broke my heart. Ophelia and Bogo (pet pig who has breed and gender issues) were everything he needed in his life.

Thank you Jordan Marie!!!!

Sunshine

I've finally realized why I have such love/hate relationships with Novella's and it's because I always seem to want more. Sometimes these short stories are packed full and you feel fulfilled by the end and other times I'm not ready for the ending, much like this story. I honestly just wanted more details about both characters but especially Braden. Otherwise it's a quick insta-love read that was over far too soon.
