[Vernon and Irving laugh uproariously. Pause. Frankie utters a subconscious but quite loud, monosyllabic 'Oh!'; this means, vaguely, a combination of 'Well, here we are!' and 'Oh dear, isn't life painful?' Hereafter, 'Frankie utters' refers to this ejaculation.]
